WTF. When I saw the title and description I was sure it'd be of some little kid, like one or two years old, and it'd be one of those innocuous photos parents can take of their kids bathing or showering, and since we're in 2021 it's digital, and so it could be accidentally uploaded to the Internet. It's what Occam's razor led me to, anyway.

Then I read the whole article, and then I googled "claudia conway age". She's 16? And her mother got her hands on a photo of her nude in the shower which she uploaded, deliberately or not, to the web?

I suppose we'll never know, but I really would like to know what happened here.
Definitely sucks for Claudia, and also for her mother, at least if this was indeed an accident. The US has rather strict laws on these things.

The daughter has now posted an ~~ISIS style propaganda video~~ totally unforced apology video asking people to leave her mom alone.

At first I thought all the Conway family drama was just internet weirdos getting too involved in the life of a somewhat famous 16 year old girl, but I guess I was wrong. Seems like a seriously abusive home life.

I think (though I don't really know) that this may have been some sort of selfie that the daughter took and had on her own phone. Then the mother confiscated the phone and at the same time copied the photo. Then after that, who knows, actually the whole "posted by accident to Twitter" seems really unlikely, but I'm very Twitter-stupid and couldn't even post a photo to it on purpose, so maybe it's easier than I think and it really did happen that way.

Based on my very limited understanding of the law, emancipation is not a viable path for her. It's not enough to just show that her parents are abusive, she would have to show that she is able to take care of herself, which is generally not the case for most 16 year olds.

Emancipation is usually something for wealthy child pop-stars or actors or whatever that have compelling income streams that can convince a judge that a child isn't being thrown into poverty through parental abandonment.

This is more something for CPS to take interest in. Even if she were removed from the home, emancipation is not a likely outcome.

I suppose it's possible to want to upload a photo and pick the wrong one by mistake. Though, how she wouldn't instantly notice and delete it is beyond me. Whenever I upload anything to the Web I make 100% sure it's what I wanted to upload. Someone like Kellyanne Conway would know this even better than myself. I suppose an "oh, I was drop dead tired and not paying attention to what I was doing" covfefe episode-type incident is possible, but... even then, I agree it's very strange that she should have, and hold onto, a photo like that in the first place.

The only (non-weird) reason I can think of is it was some sort of evidence thing...

Mother finds nude pic, decides "her father needs to know what daughter is doing", makes copy so that he will believe the mother.

(Although it would also seem rather dysfunctional if the father wouldn't believe the mother without such evidence.)

I, too, assumed the thread title would be a wild exaggeration and would involve an infant or toddler.

The police should investigate, of course.

I'm fairly confident, though, that KellyAnne Conway did not knowingly post a picture of her naked daughter to her own twitter account. Of all the possible explanations for what happened, that one is the least likely to me.

So, what does that leave? Hacking? Daughter grabs phone and deliberately posts something to get her mom into trouble, probably not realizing exactly how much trouble was involved? Daughter has gotten mom's password, and posts from her own phone? Mom posts the wrong pic by accident?

KellyAnne is actually insane? That can't be ruled out, but it would have to be truly insane, not just a bit stressed out or irrational. A sane person would not do such a thing on purpose. In order for the Conway to be actually responsible for that photo being posted, she would have to deliberately put an obviously illegal photo on the internet, in a way that capture would be inevitable.

I thought of one more possibility. KellyAnne felt that her daughter was doing harmful and self-destructive things, and that only drastic action would make her realize the import of her daughter's actions. That would be a lot like being insane, but not quite.

I guess we'll see what shows up, though. My initial guess is that the daughter is responsible for that selfie ending up on twitter, but perhaps an investigation will bring something else to light.

This is most likely.

She seems to have responded to several comments on tik tok, one in morse code (!), before even checking to see if it was true or checking with her mom, etc... Then she guessed 'how' it probably happened.

Still, it is a cry for help from a young girl. I think a total break from social media is a good idea for all of them.

The police should investigate, of course. I'm fairly confident, though, that KellyAnne Conway did not knowingly post a picture of her naked daughter to her own twitter account. Of all the possible explanations for what happened, that one is the least likely to me. So, what does that leave? Hacking? Daughter grabs phone and deliberately posts something to get her mom into trouble, probably not realizing exactly how much trouble was involved? Daughter has gotten mom's password, and posts from her own phone? Mom posts the wrong pic by accident? KellyAnne is actually insane? That can't be ruled out, but it would have to be truly insane, not just a bit stressed out or irrational. A sane person would not do such a thing on purpose. In order for the Conway to be actually responsible for that photo being posted, she would have to deliberately put an obviously illegal photo on the internet, in a way that capture would be inevitable. I thought of one more possibility. KellyAnne felt that her daughter was doing harmful and self-destructive things, and that only drastic action would make her realize the import of her daughter's actions. That would be a lot like being insane, but not quite. I guess we'll see what shows up, though. My initial guess is that the daughter is responsible for that selfie ending up on twitter, but perhaps an investigation will bring something else to light.

She seems to have responded to several comments on tik tok, one in morse code (!), before even checking to see if it was true or checking with her mom, etc... Then she guessed 'how' it probably happened. Still, it is a cry for help from a young girl. I think a total break from social media is a good idea for all of them.
