I hardly support this, but it is not any worse than banning the ROTC from campus, as so many "enlithened" and "progressive" universities do. "Tolerance" is, as we all know, a one-way street...
...anyway, to the point, it is obvious that the Democratic club IS in disagreement -- in its support of gay marriage and abortion, to name two issues -- with Liberty U.'s priniples. That this should not be a reason to ban them from campus, of course, is true, but a different issue. |

Christianity is a vile cult. Thankfully most people who claim to be Christians are not true followers and cherry pick the dogma!!
Constantine has a lot to answer for!!!! |

They claim dinosaurs mingled with humans at Liberty U. It is basically a diploma mill but with a better budget than the tin shack ones. Is anyone surprised here?

Actually, it is, in several ways.
First of all, ROTC requires university support -- buildings, faculty, courses, and such. It typically costs a university to offer a ROTC program in much the same way that it costs the university to run a classics program. A student club, by contrast, requires little if any support; faculty are not compensated for their time and sponsorship and the rooms are literally sitting empty. Some universities will make funding available to clubs, others will not (or will allow student government to use student-generated activities fees, which are not "university" funds), but even that's not universal. So there's a big difference between "we choose not to spend our limited resources in support of this" and "we choose not to permit others to support this." Secondly, banning ROTC programs doesn't violate federal law concerning nonprofit neutrality w.r.t. political parties and candidates. Banning both the Republican and Democratic clubs would also not violate that law. But banning the Democratic club but not the Republican one is a violation of federal law. I just hope one of the students at Liberty is aware of this and decides to raise the issue. |
