Actually, they don't bother to gold-plate them: it's much more cost effective to tell the sheeplefaithful that they must agree, as an act of faith, that they have been transubtaniated into solid gold.

Considering the whole concept of "Saints" is based on fantasy in the first place, I wouldn't be surprised if they rewrote her story to fit some fable.
