Mitch McConnell's "single most important thing we want to achieve"
Fix the economy? Balance the budget? National security?
No, who cares about those things. The single most important thing for Mitch McConnell to achieve is "is for President Obama to be a one-term president." He also said, "I wish we had been able to obstruct more." Is it any wonder that the president is having such a hard time trying to fix the economy when all the other party wants to do is obstruct those efforts? Linky |

They don't care about the people. They just want power. I'm glad Mitch finally is honest enough to state it.

Fix the mess? They spent 8 years making it by allowing banks and wall street to run around doing what they wanted unregulated. Yah right, wanna fix it.
Any way, regarding the op, it is clear that the Republican Tea Party's agenda is To limit Obama to one term. Joe scarborough was on msnbc this morning claiming that all DEMs are saying Obama doesn't know what he is doing. Now a few may be saying that, but clearly Scarborough, like McConnell, wants to see Obama out ASAP, and is willing to exaggerate, perhaps even lie, to see that happen. TAM |

That is not Mitch McConnell's analysis, he does not see it the same way as you.
It does not need to be because of malice, could be incompetence or ideology too. The writer of the article is making a lot of fuss about a very common attack, the writer seems to be incapable of understanding that Mitch would oppose the policies of Obama instead of being against Obama as a person. |

Well you definitely got one thing right...McConnell does NOT see it the way i do. I would like to know (and can probably guess he blames Bill) what he blames the tanking of the economy in 2008 on.

Oh really, so the economy tanked just because of the DEM congress of 2006. I assume you have proof that the 2 years they were in was responsible, and not the 8 years of rEP rule.

You want proof in macroeconomics? I fear you will be disappointed.
Honestly, imo, the problem in what eventually blew up as the US housing market/mortgage/CDOs/CDSs/etc traces back to Nixon, and gathered strength through every succeeding Administration and Congress. |

Fair assessment. I mistakenly thought your post about the 2006 congress was also your view, but it seems you were posting accurately, as i requested, for what MCConnell possibly blames it on. TAM |

That doesn't make any sense to me. The premise of that position does not have to be Obama is deliberately trying to wreck the economy.
Just because you disagree with the course someone takes and you believe it is hurting the economy, budget and/or national security does not mean you think they are purposely doing it to ruin the economy, budget and/or national security. |

Maybe he feels the best way to help the people is to make sure Obama is not reelected.
I think differently than you. I think most (both parties) do love the power but I also think most (both parties) are interested in doing what they think is best for the people and their country |

I guess there comes shortly an empirical test of the attitude of the American people toward the "Party of No to 2400 page bills that can't be read before being voted on".
I suspect that you and the others here represent outliers in the general attitudes of the voting public. But liberal elites or those who sincerely think they are such would always be outlier opinions, wouldn't they? |

well of course I cannot. I did not read it. Did you?
I can tell you that it is SUPPOSE to increase REGULATION, put in protections for investors. Can you provide me with the arguments that Republicans make as to why NOT TO support Wall Street Reform, given what happened in 2008-2009. TAM PS. No one was asking them to "Agree" with it entirely. Their comes a point when you have to see what is better for your country as a whole, and vote based on that, not based on what some silly ideology (or worse partisan politics) tells you. |

What confirmation bias? They have consistantly voted with their heads, not with a party talking points memo.
Mitch the moron, on the other hand, has done nothing but stomp jis heels and insist that we do things his way. Tried that. It didn't work. And compromising with the moron din't get anything done either. He wants Obama's plans to fail so that he can try his own. Doing the same crap that didn't work last time and thinking that it will work this time is just moronic. |
