Florida GOP: Trump statesman of the year
The day before the Republican National Convention in Tampa, the Florida GOP will present Trump with the award for "Statesman of the Year".
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com...ty-convention/ Yep, it's plain that the GOP is trying to distance itself from the Birther nutjobs! Can you imagine if something similar were done by the Democratic party wrt one of the Truthers? Seriously? Statesman of the Year? |

Statesman? Has Trump actually held a political office? I thought he was a real estate dealer, casino owner, and television personality. How that translates to "statesman" escapes me.

...and they said Obama was unfit for office because he hadn't held one very long.
Dear Lord, are they even trying to be consistent? |

And I don't believe for a minute that the national GOP couldn't prevent this from happening in conjunction with the Convention if they wanted to.

I'm trying to think of any political person they could have picked that would make them look stupider. David Duke?

Rush Limbaugh? (Didn't he speak at the RNC once?)
I keep trying to come up with any similar endorsement of a lunatic by the mainstream Democratic Party, and I can't find any. The closest (and it's not very close) is Al Sharpton. But AFAIK he doesn't go around spouting any bizzarro CTs. |

Well, he's a man, and he inherited his daddy's real estate... move a few letters around, and like ketchup... voila! he's a vegetable.. Err, a 'statesman'.

From Bloom County by Berke Brethed (paraphrased):
Milo: He's just another politician. Opus: He's not a politician. He's a statesman. Milo: A statesman is a dead politician. God knows we need more statesmen. |

Can't wait until the next time someone criticizes his moronic political blatherings. He will be able to blast back, "What do they know? I'm an honored statesman!"
