34 percent of Trump supporters won't support Republican nominee if it's not Trump

Party unity, and such.

Also, 1/3 of Sanders supporters wouldn't vote for Clinton.

This is great! A third party could really get a lot of votes in this election.

Yes, let's make it easier for the Republicans to win! What a genius plan!

It doesn't matter what people say at this point. Bernie supporters will change their minds if a Supreme Court justice has not been confirmed, Ted Cruz or (Donald Trump is the opponent), and Sanders tells them to vote Clinton.

Trump supporters are more likely to stay home if he gets the most delegates in the first ballot, but then loses to Cruz.

Sanders and Trump are the third party in this election. Too bad the official third parties have spent decades positioning themselves as ineffective single-issue niche parties. They should have been preparing for this day, instead.

You really don't get it, do you? People are voting for Bernie because they don't believe the mainstream Democratic party has anything worthwhile to offer. You're yelling at them for not getting back on the bandwagon. Has it ever occurred to you that they think your bandwagon is a crock of ****, and that Bernie's candidacy was a worthwhile alternative? Take away the alternative, but that doesn't make your crock any less ******.

The GOP has the same problem with Trump, by the way.

I have been leaving this comment on the comments area of various Facebook page articles.

Angry #Trump supporters - are you upset with the #GOP? Wanna mess with them? #VoteBlue in November. That will really piss them off.

So far, the only people who "like" this comment have been Clinton supporters and Sanders supporters. I wonder why.

Well, you're half right. The Green Party is hardly "single issue". We take stands on many issues. However, I do think we could've prepared better.

I think that Tony Stark is so heavily invested in not getting it that you can't really say anything to him.

Well, that's cutting off your nose to spite your face. With a chainsaw.

The same applies to most voters who claim they will vote Trump when Sanders gets eliminated, or to those who claim they will vote 3rd party.

If the nose is gangrenous, sometimes there is no better option than to cut it off.

I voted for Bernie Sanders in the primary.

"Progressives" that won't vote for Hillary in the highly probable event that she wins the nomination are complete and utter morons and would be actively harming their own cause. They would only have themselves to blame if Ted Cruz becomes President and appoints far right wing Supreme Court justices, signs far right wing bills, and in general ***** up the country.

Bernie Sanders himself agrees with me.

I don't see how, unless you can prove that they're doing it just to spite people. Spite vote doesn't work with third parties, because third parties almost never get enough votes to do anything. (At least, not for president.)

The sky will fall. The earth will open up. But worst of all, you will be labeled a traitor. Your progressive card will be taken away. You will be shunned. Hillary herself will exile you to the desert, so you can live among other disreputable members of humanity:

Those waiters who fill your cup up with ice when serving you a drink.
Those people on buses who sit on the outside, so they take up two seats instead of one.
Those people who sing along with the music on their headphones, in public.
etc.
etc.

Look just because you're an irritable jerk and you have a lot of friends who are irritable jerks doesn't mean this is a bad thing. I bet you get annoyed at birds singing too. Hey just cause I belt out the Biebs in falsetto at 530 rush hour or rip Pavarotti solos on my way home from the bar at 300, that just makes me *********** awesome.

Maybe they say that now but I'd be surprised if most of the 34% didn't vote for the eventual GOP candidate when push comes to shove.

The point is that there is a surprising number of people on both sides of the aisle who think that the two-party establishment in general is a face that badly needs spiting.

Democrats who are voting for Bernie are doing so as their first choice for spiting that face. And a lot of them are thinking about the best way to spite that face if/when their first choice drops out. Voting for Clinton would be antithetical to their purpose.
