Whoa-ho, here's a truckload of missing context. The "planted child porn" that Jones is raving about wasn't found by him on his own email servers, or in emails from unknown parties to him. It was found in among discovery materials that Jones had emailed to the lawyers of the Sandy Hook families as required for their ongoing litigation.

No doubt. Also, 100k is not 1 million.

Quote:
During a profanity-fueled segment of "The Alex Jones Show" on Friday, Jones said he was offering a $1 million reward to whomever could track down the person that tried “to set me up with child porn.”

In a later segment, Pattis clarified that the reward was actually $100,000 for information that leads to the arrest and prosecution of the culprit.

So Alex Jones accusations on Child Porn are pure B.S.
What a freaking big surprise.

Yep.

Here's the facts of the matter: Jones was compelled by court order to hand over certain contents of his email servers to the lawsuit plaintiffs as part of the discovery process. Initially, Jones' legal team copied the contents of all the relevant emails into PDF documents and handed over the PDF documents; however, plaintiffs pointed out that the metadata from the emails was part of the original materials and needed to be handed over as well. Rather than defendant's counsel going back and retrieving the metadata solely from the relevant emails and sending that, Jones or whoever was doing this work for him apparently just decided to email a raw dump of the ALL of the email metadata on the whole server directly to the plaintiffs' counsel without reviewing it.

The plaintiffs' counsel discovered a child pornography image while reviewing the materials, and immediately contacted the FBI. The FBI instructed the plaintiffs' counsel to hand the entire discovery cache over to them, which was done, and the FBI found much more child pornography among the contents. The child pornography appears in emails that were sent, apparently unsolicited, to Infowars at some unknown point. Minor point, the FBI does not appear to be investigating Alex Jones for possession or anything of the sort.

After Jones was informed of the FBI investigation though, he went on his show and began ranting, with his own attorney sitting next to him, starting out by saying "I'm not saying the Sandy Hook lawyers did this or set this up", but then launching into a spittle-misted screed which heavily implied he did think that to be the case, including repeatedly saying the name of and pounding on a photograph of the plaintiffs' counsel Chris Mattei.

After this episode, the Sandy Hook plaintiffs filed a motion basically asking the court to take judicial notice of the episode, Jones' public accusations that the plaintiffs sent the child porn to him, and a possible personal threat of violence he made against their counsel during the show. Their motion can be read here - caution, a portion of Jones' rant is transcribed there and it contains foul language.

So the plaintiffs' argument, in summary, is

Quote:
It is worth noting that if the Jones Defendants had engaged in even minimal due diligence and actually reviewed the materials before production, they would have found the images themselves. Because the Jones Defendants did not do that, they transmitted images to the plaintiffs that if they were knowingly possessed is a serious federal crime. The Jones Defendants put plaintiffs’ counsel and ESI consultants in the appalling position of discovering the first image. Plaintiffs’ ESI consultants then acted exactly as they were compelled to under federal law once they discovered the contraband images; so did plaintiffs’ counsel. But this appears not to have been good enough for Jones.

At the Tuesday hearing, the plaintiffs will request an expedited briefing schedule concerning what orders must issue in connection with Mr. Jones’ on-air statements and Attorney Pattis’ participation in this broadcast. In addition, the plaintiffs may seek interim relief, to span the time during which the briefs are being filed.
The most recent development came today; Jones' attorney Norm Pattis has filed a request that the entire case now be stayed due to a possible conflict of interest on his part, since the plaintiffs have now made a complaint regarding him personally. His motion can be read here.

Norm Pattis wants out. He sounded so awkward when Alex was going on his drunken, profane tirades about the "million dollar reward" and pounding on that photograph. He was trying to dial Alex back, calling him "young man" and telling him that they want to be careful not to appear to be creating a financial incentive for a witness (the reward), but Jones was completely off the rails. Pattis probably thought that he could win the Sandy Hook case on the merits, but not with Jones threatening the opposing counsel, ranting about demons and "blood on the streets" and offering a million dollar reward for evidence that the FBI already has.

Even for Jones, that was quite the deranged spectacle.

ETA - looks like the rant has been taken down? The headline is still there, but the image of the empty desk just circular links back to the headline.

Related news, Lenny Pozner has (according to articles in New York Post and Time) won his defamation lawsuit against James Fetzer and Mike Palacek over the book "Nobody Died at Sandy Hook." Damages haven't been ruled on yet.

It appears the book publisher has bailed on the authors. The book is being pulled from shelves, according to Time. Daily News reports:

Quote:
Following the decision, the publishing company apologized to Pozner in a statement.

“My face-to-face interactions with Mr. Pozner have led me to believe that Mr. Pozner is telling the truth about the death of his son,” Dave Gahary, the principal officer at publisher Moon Rock Books, said Monday. “I extend my most heartfelt and sincere apology to the Pozner family.”

Forgive me if I think Gahary's repentence less then sincere. He strikes me as a case of somebody who is not sorry he did something wrong, but very sorry he got caught doing it.

This essay was written by a former employee of Alex Jones, and I think it's something that everyone should read.

Oh, jeez, this is hilarious. Alex is boozing it up and driving at the same time:

Quote:
“Look at this great city shot,” he said pointing out the window at Austin’s skyline. As soon as I pulled the camera off him, he reached for the white Dixie cup. Is this really how I’m going to die? I thought to myself, imagining the scene: Jones veering too close to the guardrail, ranting about George Soros and Hillary Clinton. Sirens echoing in the distance, flashing lights reflecting off oil-soaked pavement as he grabs the camera and utters his final words, “Hillary ... rigged ... the car.”

what is good about that article is that it shows why Conspiracy Theorist like Jones are not harmless kooks, but do real damage and hurt real people.

I can't imagine the added pain, after having one's child shot to pieces in their own school, of having a bloodsucking parasite like Jones declaring that it was all a hoax - that you're just a "crisis actor" and you child never actually existed - and having his twisted fans constantly harassing you because of it.

A justice system worthy of the name would have Jones digging latrine trenches for the rest of his natural life.

How do I end up defending Alex Jones? Posts like that.

I have no reason to like Alex. At one point he claimed (on air) that James B and I were working in the basement of the Pentagon, trying to undermine the 9-11 Truth Movement.

But I don't mind saying that he was fully within his rights to say that. Yes it is untrue, but not so obviously untrue that he could determine the truth.

BTW, I did experience some mild harassment on the phone (listed number back in the day).

Let me be clear here; I have no opposition to him getting sued in civil court for his many torts. I hope that the plaintiffs get all the money he has.

But nobody should serve time for being an idiot, not even Alex

It is more than him just being an idiot though. He tells outrageous lies for profit that have been at the expense of innocent people at a time of grief. The Hellcat in the story was bought with such lies. **** that bastard.

OK, fine. I'll reduce the the sentence to 20 years, and throw in $3.75/hr commissary credit as well. It's a gift.

I'm not sentencing him for being an idiot. I'm sentencing him for terrorizing innocent people with lynch mobs, for money.

Small nitpick - prisoners average under a dollar per hour, and most prisons keep most of their earnings for fees, restitution, etc. $3.75 per hour in commissary credit would have you on your way to being a kingpin.

Good point. But I've got to be more generous with Jones, being that I plan on having him dig ditches for 20 years.

Thanks for posting that. I hope that this encourages other Jones people to come out and tell their stories. Jones' response on the air was predictably full of strawmen. He invented people who live in high rises in New York who want to arrest anyone who hunts.

This week on the Alex Jones show - Regular guest Steve Piecenik denied the holocaust and Alex had a long, fairly civil conversation with Richard Spencer.

I'm not surprised. He allegedly hadn't been drinking for a while and seemed to start up again recently, sometimes during the show. His non-CPAC event in DC featured him drunkenly running up on stage and grabbing the mike from other speakers. He ended up not giving his closing speech as the other speaker said that "Alex has gone to bed." He's not well.

Also - he shaved his head last week. I can only find a link from his odious website, so I'll put it in spoiler tags.

Yes, especially since he’s claiming to have blown under 0.08 on the BAC.

Probably not. They make a commission off emergency food supply bundles that he pimps on the show. Coronavirus sold a lot of those, as well as his nano-silver whatever it is.

Infowars recently bought some kind of cheesy armored vehicle that they use for publicity stunts at rallies and public gatherings. It's going to be tough to afford full insurance coverage on that baby with a DWI-convicted driver.

Similar to the silver-based virus cure that Jim Bakker had shut down recently?

His mental health is deteriorating, his addiction problem is getting worse, and he shaved his head. Reminds me of Britney Spears.
