Whatsamatter? "Dr" Herschel Walker's dry mist cure did not work? I'd ask for your money back.
Just spray some Lysol down his throat, he'll be fine.

You are assuming his dad was fighting against the nazis.

True, but those nice friendly trumpetteers were big bad commies back then.

Of course these days I think half the population thinks the phrase "fight fire with fire" means you should toss the water and fill your bucket with gasoline.

It’s weird how in 1945 we allegedly hated socialism and in 1948 we loved it. I mean the Berliners didn’t pay for the food we were airlifting - that’s socialism, right?

The problem is that you have basic historical literacy, when all you need to be a senator is being a college football coach.

Or have a rich daddy. Or be on TV. Or commit a racially motivated killing (anticipating Senator Rittenhouse's tenure).

Basically how many problems across wide swaths of society really boil down to "You can be wrong, even intentionally, and never face any consequence or indeed any reaction at all because of it?"

Or have your nose firmly stuck up Trump's rectum in a red state.

In the Party of Trump, literacy of any kind is not deemed an asset. Gaslighting the stupid and/or uneducated is so much easier.

McConnell said the quiet part out loud again.

In response to (valid but that's neither here nor there) complaints about their blatant vote suppression efforts McConnell said:

"Well, the concern is misplaced, because if you look at the statistics, African American voters are voting at just as high a percentage as Americans."

Even if you give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he meant "African American voters are voting at same percentage as white voters", he would still be wrong.

In 2016, 58% of white people voted, but only 56% of african Americans
did. In 2020, the gap was even bigger: 64% of white voters, 59% of African americans. (The only years when a higher percentage of african americans voted was in 2008 and 2012, when they were able to select someone born in Nigeria )

Well that's exactly what he was doing. Saying something offensive to distract from the fact that he was wrong.

Because of course in the Republican value system being both wrong and offensive at the same time is a twofer.

In our continuing coverage of "You said the quiet part out loud..."

Mark Peake, a Republican State Senator from Virginia, openly admitted on the Virginia Senate floor that intended purpose of a proposed "rEligIouS FrEeDoM" bill was to protect the discrimination of gay people under the law.

Quote:
“You are correct, what you said is correct. They would be allowed to discriminate against people that they do not feel follow their religious beliefs. This is the whole point of it, is for their religious beliefs, and it gives them the ability to discriminate against people that conflict with their religious beliefs.”

Then he chuckled, saying, “I think that is the substance of this bill.”
https://www.losangelesblade.com/2022...-lgbtq-people/

And again we're going to, I think, have more and more of these moments. The Republicans want to say it. It kills them that they have pussyfoot around it. They want to go "I'm wrong, I'm hateful, but I'm power and you can't stop me."

Come on it is not to just discriminate against gay people, it is also to discriminate against the jews.

Exactly as intended. Jews need to know what Tennessee thinks of them.

I haven't read the text of the Bill, but it would be ironic if it ended up like Louisiana allowing state vouchers to be used for religious schools and being horrified to discover that Muslim schools were eligible.
"It was only supposed to apply to our religion."

"I'm sorry, but this is a Wiccan-run business and your beliefs are unacceptable to us."

Mark my words, they are going to get more comfortable putting that in the text instead of the subtext.

Again they want to say it. I think they are getting sick of playing the game.

Trump legitimized the things they didn't used to say out loud but only within their own circles. You know, inside those private right wing websites, etc that another member said were easy to find online. Links to which were never produced when requested. Repeatedly.

When you first started asking people for this I thought you were being sarcastic, but you keep bringing it up. Are you honestly having diffculty finding groups of racist dickbags on the internet? Have you tried throwing a rock?

I wasn't asking 'people' for this; I asked one person who claimed that we could know how right wingers interpreted Glenn Beck's painting. I said that racists (yes, I know, not all right wingers are racists) would not necessarily tend to express their racism in public but would among those of like mind as in private groups. He said those closed groups were plentiful on the internet and we could read them. I asked for links to any of these groups. None was.

It wasn't my claim so why should I, nor did I, spend any time looking for racist dickbags discussing Glenn Beck's painting?

This is the whole point of it, is for their religious beliefs, and it gives them the ability to discriminate against people that conflict with their religious beliefs.”

Then he chuckled, saying, “I think that is the substance of this bill.”

And again we're going to, I think, have more and more of these moments. The Republicans want to say it. It kills them that they have pussyfoot around it. They want to go "I'm wrong, I'm hateful, but I'm power and you can't stop me."
It's also coming really close to saying that the ability to discriminate against people who don't follow their religious beliefs isn't just the point of the law, but the point of the religious beliefs. I mean, at some point even the religious need to understand the difference between a law that's a shield for their beliefs from undue interference and one that makes their beliefs a sword to wield against others.

Not really, look at the hundreds of thousands they get from christian crowdfunding sites. Could easily offset the business lost.

Rand Paul: Yeah, I know he's a Libertarian, but let's face it: he's just as crazy as the majority of the current crop of GOP Congressmembers are:

Quote:
Obsessed Rand Paul Threatens to Investigate Fauci if GOP Takes Senate

Speaking to conservative podcast host Lisa Boothe, Paul said he’ll continue his feud with Fauci if Republicans take the Senate and he becomes chairman of the Health, Education, Labor & Pensions Committee. He said: “If we win in November, if I’m chairman of a committee, if I have subpoena power, we'll go after every one of [Fauci's] records... We’ll have an investigator go through this piece-by-piece because we don’t need this to happen again.” Fauci recently accused Paul of inciting death threats against him by stoking up “the crazies” with misinformation.

'Indefensible': Houston GOP precinct chair releases 'hate-filled' list of party priorities

Quote:
Texas Democrats want Harris County GOP precinct chair Carla Richburg to be removed after she allegedly submitted resolutions to the county Republican party calling for bigoted actions like considering all Chinese nationals as "spies."

A Sunday, February 6, tweet from the Texas Democrats showed a document with Richburg's name at the bottom outlining multiple transphobic, anti-immigrant, and homophobic Republican party priorities submitted to the Harris County Republican Party (HCRP). Richburg is Precinct 602 Chair for the HCRP and identifies herself as such in the document.

In the document, Richburg allegedly calls for the removal of "sex education of any kind" and for the "manditory [sic]" death penalty for people found guilty of murder of police officers or "victoms [sic] of gang warfare."

Richburg allegedly wants all "Chinese nationals" to be considered spies and be forcibly removed from businesses, schools, universities, and the U.S. She also calls for their travel and work visas to be canceled.

Her last resolution says the state will "wage war against all invaders into the Texas borders by deadly force" with minimal warning.

Other actions Richburg calls for includes:

Prohibition of all medical mandates to fight pandemics.

A ban on all abortions.

Denial of transgender and other gender identities.

To remove "marriage" from same-sex marriages and only consider them as civil unions.
