Also GOP: 'Why can't we just shoot that balloon? I've got a good gun!' |

(In reply to Stacyhs' post about rifle ranges.)
... And those were obviously horizontal shots. Even a AAA cannon can't reach 60 angels. But people like MTG don't worry about facts. Hopefully, there will be no casualties from falling bullets when idiots empty their assault rifles into the thin air. Hans |

Oh, and the main reason it is so high (apart from being hard to shoot down) is that at that altitude, 200-300 mph jet stream winds that always blow to the east can carry it from China to the US in a matter of days. During WW2, the Japanese sent balloons with bombs to the US, but since you can't aim at anything smaller than a state, the military effect was nil.

Republican Skeptics: does it bother you that these people treat you like you are stupid? When they lie to you that is exactly what they are doing. Santos, Walker (who almost won), MTG, Trump lie about virtually everything. I see nothing comparable from the Democrats, especially mainstream. Not even close. What awful things are the Dems doing that make Trump and Santos and MTG more palatable to you? They are the Republican Party right now. Worried about gun rights? Trans stuff? Maybe we can worry about those things after these democracy stealing ******** are gone, hmmm? Maybe we should band together and get rid of this threat to our country? LOL sure I know. If not I guess you approve. Go Santos woohoo! Wake up, dickheads. ETA: Why is dickhead okay while ******* is censored? |

It took a F 22 Raptor to shoot the thing down. So much for Margie's idea of some redneck doing it himself.

As was amply demonstrated to me when a Trump voting cousin came over to visit in summer 2017, they work on an attitude of "**** you, I got mine". He said to me when I queried his Trump support: "I know he's awful for the country, but look at the stock markets, he's great for my 401k". Same fellow was a reserve cop back in MA and had his holster clip prominently on display the whole time in Ireland.

My Dad argued with me that his investments went up with Trump, then a minute later realized he'd actually lost money. I said, Dad you are not nearly wealthy enough for them to care about either way. He pretty much has his and doesn't wanna share. He did work hard for what he has. But it wasn't nearly as hard to get then as it is now. His first house is worth 100 times more than he paid for it while wages have maybe doubled to tripled in that time. Just sit back and think about that, Dad. |

If the right to existence is conceded to new-born children, then they have the right; if it is not conceded to them, as was the case among the Spartans and ancient Romans, then they do not have it. For only society can give or concede it to them; they themselves cannot take it, or give it to themselves. |

Is the State Opening of Parliament speech regularly interrupted by screaming insults? Maiden speeches? Is there any non-debate address given by the PM or other high ranking official where members of either house yell at them to shut up or call them liars? I'm honestly curious because I don't know.

Using a term such as "liar", even about such notorious liars as our last PM but 2, in the House of Commons is a big no-no and gets folk suspended for using "unparliamentary language".
All manner of vague shouting ("Northern General Bus Company. Northern General Bus Company." As my parents amateur operatic society colleagues did to simulate conversation in crowd scenes) and harumphing is allowed though. The Speaker may tell them to calm down by shouting "Order! Order!" at them, which doesn't mean replying with "Two pints of bitter, a rum and coke and an orange juice for the designated driver"... |

You can watch their sessions on CSPAN. It can be entertaining.
MTG is nothing but an attention whore. The more attention she gets the more it encourages her. And the news media loves it. I thought she was drowned out when she said "liar" but the media managed to report on it anyway. |

I would only like to say I have far too much dignity to ever even consider using a term such as "skank," much less do so. So I won't.
Call her a skank. Marjorie Taylor Greene, that is. |

Just about all parliaments get noisy at times. Democracy is a loud form of government. That's one of the things that make people assume that it's inefficient. Untrue, of course.
But in the US, as in many countries, the chief executive must be invited into the legislative chamber. The custom is to treat him politely, as you would any guest. But custom, like decency, means nothing to Empty G. She'll do anything. She thinks that she can get away with whatever occurs to her in the moment. "Getting away with it" means escaping physical harm; literally. I predict that someday she'll imitate Preston Brooks's assault on Charles Sumner, not because she's ever heard of either of them, but because her simple mind can't -- or won't -- exert any control over her brute glee. Remember that I said it. |

This sort of attention-whoring by EmptyG is par for her course. Only the other day she was parading around the halls of Congress with a white balloon and cackling anti-Biden jibes in an attempt to make some point or other about something and take a swing at Joe. Remember, her pre-election gig was to publicly harass her "enemies" in the street and their offices with a camera following, in attempts to provoke a heated response. She thought and thinks she is being "smart" and "effective". Even her own party knows she is just a stain on their reputations and a nasty skid-mark on their underpants.
She is just a ****-stirrer. And not a very good one at that. The thing with ****-stirrers, though, is that **** is their stock-in-trade. their product, their commodity. That's the level and quality of their work. |
