Meanwhile, in the real world, Luxon and Willis are the New Brooms.

And Luxon talking his game:

Given that ram raids have fallen off a cliff now the cops have pretty well targeted the groups of little ***** doing them, no doubt National will trumpet that as an achievement.

Right now, Northern Territory is poaching Kiwi prison guards, and we were already in desperate straits. With national sending more people to jail, expect prison riots to become a thing about June next year.

I remember reading some time ago about New Zealand's plan to eventually ban cigarettes.

Looks like that plan has gone up in smoke:

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-67540190

Quote:
However his National party, which won 38% of the vote in the 14 October election, hadn't mentioned the Smokefree laws during election campaigning. The announcement by the new finance minister Nicola Willis on Saturday that the government would repeal the laws shocked health experts who believed the policy would be untouched.

But Ms Willis said National's partners in the governing coalition- the populist New Zealand First and libertarian Act - had been "insistent" on reversing the laws.

Despite election victory, the centre-right National party has struggled for weeks in policy negotiations to form a government with the two minor parties.

A deal was only agreed to on Friday, six weeks after the election, allowing the new government to be sworn in on Monday. New Zealand First - which won 6% of the vote - had been the only party to campaign on repealing the smoking laws.
Part of a deal to allow a governing coalition to be formed.

And let me tell you, has that opened a very large can of worms. Maori health campaigners are horrified, because apparently Maori need white people to pass laws against it to stop them smoking.

The flip side of the question is the one no Labour minister would discuss - the fact that outlawing cigarettes was just going to bring a whole new means of income for criminal gangs. They already import millions of cigarettes because tax rates are so high, and prohibition would have opened the door for much more action, and it would all be money the government would get no part of.

The law itself was a typically stupid attempt by Labour to appease Maori by introducing an unworkable law. I give Winston a tick for not adding to our criminal gang income.

On the other hand, he gets a big, fat X for attacks on independent media - straight out of the Trump playbook. Winston has always had a tumultuous relationship with media - mainly because he's a two-faced lying sack of **** who doesn't like being caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

Would be wonderful if you can actually identify who the heck you are talking about. Otherwise this is just meaningless garbage.

He thinks people who support trans people are in a cult. The irony is impressive.

All the people despised by the pack here.
In fact I just discovered John Cleese is a sworn member of the cult I have joined.

John Cleese is a gammon. Very funny man, but a massive gaping ********.

You're still writing in barely readable gibberish, which given your apparent belief in the English language as a social panacea is hilariously ironic.

Also Konstantin Kisin? A poorly received stand-up and contributor to the Spectator?

Douglas Murray? Another Spectator contributor and author of such ridiculous works as "Neoconservatism: Why We Need It"? An author who espouses far-right conspiracy nonsense like "cultural Marxism" and the Eurabia nonsense?

Good to see your choice of guides is as dreadful as ever.

I had no idea whatsoever what he was on about. But if that's all then perhaps he should make a new thread about that. Or something. So that I can be first in line to not read it.

Be fair TA, he also likes to promote anti-Maori racism and the belief that teaching English will result in almost empty prisons.

A minor development I wasn't aware of but I'm very pleased about - ACT and David Seymour are putting pseudoephedrine back on pharmacy shelves.

It's something that has pissed me off for years - because gangs were using tablets with pseudoephedrine in them to make meth, sales were heavily restricted and it's impossible to get. Alternatives are worthless, and I know from experience that when you have a cold, pseudoephedrine shuts down the runny nose instantly, also helping avoid chest infections.

Of course, wowsers are crying about it, but given the enormous amount of meth coming into NZ, it's not going to be a target for criminals.

And speaking of criminals, if Luxon et al can solve this kind of behaviour, I'll even vote for them next time:

https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/crime/...CLL4X275SU5JY/

Quote:
As Holden, Maraki and Wright-Macdonald were taken away to begin their jail sentences, they turned and delivered the public gallery middle finger salutes and gave a garbled gang cry, which was returned by the members of the public.

Yeah New Zealand, we own jail,” one of the men yelled.
That is presently 100% correct.

No, I don't think that's a likely outcome. Meth is so cheap it's not going to be worth the hassle - the production is somewhat complicated, produces toxic gases and will result in small amounts of product only.

Pseudoephedrine isn't the only precursor to meth, and whereas a decade ago cops were turning over a meth lab every week, they're virtually unknown in 2023. Factories in China produce meth by the tonne, making a few grams after a pharmacy stick up isn't going to happen.

Then what has changed by putting it back on sale? Was always small quantities involved.

That's a lot more important.
Legacy media are unanimously calling the bribery allegations false, false statements and so on.

Is there an aspect of bribery in the fund or not?
This is an interesting case. I see treaty and te reo linkage as a form of corruption, because it advances a political agenda in a substantial way, an agenda seen as damaging to democracy, agree or disagree.
Let us discuss this.
Trans matters are deeply political and nowhere close to having been resolved by the way. The discission is valid on this thread, but lets look at the principals of bribery and corruption in the context of a contestable fund.
106k went straight to a te reo translator at Stuff as an example.

It should never have been removed - it was never more than a red herring.

The vast majority of pseudoephedrine turned into meth was supplied by crooked pharmacists like this guy: https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/pharma...V5EZOCJ7UPO2M/

For Zarquon's sake, of course it isn't. The fund was provided to ensure the survival of independent media under threat by the covid slowdown when revenue dropped to zero.

Winston is pulling his dick, which is why his own leader is clearly exasperated with him.

The only one gaining any credit is Seymour, who has sensible distanced himself from the whole debacle. Remember, this is the same Winston who's been battling the media since Muldoon was alive - he's been proven time and time again to be a lying sack of ****.

As I was explaining to someone earlier, the only reason he's back in Parliament is because Luxon was seen as weak. The people who voted NZF are all certain National voters who didn't rate the egghead.

Meanwhile, National are going through Labour's legislated plans with a straight razor.

Along with Smokefree legislation dumped, the promised tax relief for gigantic 4WD utes will come in on December 31, and Auckland's light rail has been kicked to touch.

Ok so independent media are bound by Treaty and language protocols that advance the interests of Maori.
Please help me with this without the ATTITUDE thing.
This is center stage stuff for the Luxon Era.
