Is it possible that MTG is really doing a comedy routine?
Quote:
Now the far-right congresswoman has offered her hot take on electricity, and let’s just say she’s not the brightest bulb in the chandelier.

Specifically, she appears to be in disbelief about the existence of batteries — you know, those things that were invented in 1800 to provide power without the need for cords.

After learning that Air Canada recently placed an order for 30 electric airplanes, Greene expressed some rather dim concerns. True to form, she also managed to be as offensive as possible.
....
Then she really went off the rails, comparing electric planes to… slave ships?

“We were talking, how is there an electric airplane and what does that look like?” she said. “Remember back a long time ago when you’ve seen movies where people in those slave ships and, they’re down there and they’re rowing, and they’re being whipped to row?”

“We’re saying, how are they gonna keep powering these electric airplanes, what are they gonna have, it’s like a spin class in a tube? Where they’ve got everybody riding spin cycles, and those mean nasty airline stewardesses that forced you to wear masks all the time on the plane…are they gonna be forcing you to like keep spinning to keep the airplane in the air? It’s absurd!”

Yes.

It doesn't matter, though. What she's doing is manifestly harmful.

Most elected Republican politicians are not idiots - some are very smart.

But it is obvious that they are fighting over a very specific demographic: the less educated and most underinformed. And they, generally, assume that everyone else is constantly making fun of them for being dumb. So Politicians have to make themselves look even dumber to appeal to these voters.

It's a weird form of populism.

The link between lightweight battery manufacture and modern slavery makes her comments less amusing than they appear at first glance.

The problem is that it's one thing to play dumb to get into power, but quite another to act dumb to keep it. At some point when the opportunity to act smartly has been wasted, the presumption of smartness gets kind of abstract.

Stupid and the definition of cringeworthy- Utah GOP Candidate Raps in Campaign Video
(Yahoo News).

From the lyrics- "The Constitution needs to be protected Not changed or disregarded, but Resurrected!" Not changed, eh? No room for what you might call "amendment," even though the Constitution itself specifically provides for it in Article V? Here's an idea she might like- we should amend the thing to say that the thing can never be amended!

Hmm. Just a thought from a Canadian. Why then not undo all previous amendments? Would that not make sense?

John Gibbs is a Michigan candidate for the US House backed by Trump, attempting to primary a Republican who voted in favor of Trump's impeachment. When he was attending Stanford in the early 2000s he stated that America had suffered since women got the right to vote and praised an organization attempting to get the 19th Amendment repealed.

Quote:
As a student at Stanford University in the early 2000s, Gibbs founded a self-described “think tank” called the Society for the Critique of Feminism that argued women did not “posess (sic) the characteristics necessary to govern,” and said men were smarter than women because they are more likely to “think logically about broad and abstract ideas in order to deduce a suitable conclusion, without relying upon emotional reasoning.”

Hosted on Gibbs’ personal page at Stanford in 2000 and 2001, the Society for the Critique of Feminism argued for a patriarchal society run by men, calling it “the best model for the continued success of a society.”
Quote:
“We conclude that increasing the size and scope of government is unequivocally bad,” Gibbs added. “And since women’s suffrage has caused this to occur on a larger scale than any other cause in history, we conclude that the United States has suffered as a result of women’s suffrage.”

Quote:
The Society for the Critique of Feminism was cited by other anti-feminist websites, including on anti-feminist and conspiracy website Father’s Manifesto. Father’s Manifesto, which was operated by the Christian Party, had a petition to repeal the 19th Amendment. Gibbs twice praised the organization in comments hosted on their website and linked to them from his own website.

“A great website detailing, among other things, the unconstitutional laws which passed as a result of the 19th amendment, and providing further evidence of the damages done by the 19th amendment: The 19th Amendment and the Totalitarian State,” Gibbs said, linking to their website.

But don't worry. He was just joking to get a reaction from the Liberals on campus.

Quote:
Anne Marie Schieber, a spokesperson for Gibbs’ campaign told CNN that Gibbs believed women should be allowed to vote and work.

“John made the site to provoke the left on campus and to draw attention to the hypocrisy of some modern-day feminists. It was nothing more than a college kid being over the top,” she said in an email.

When I was in college (before the days of the internet) I would go on the campus radio with a buddy and talk about how Elvis was still alive and how we had set up Elvis traps all over campus. At one point, I did a report from the ElvisCopter we had out looking for him.

"We think have have an Elvis sighting, Bob. We're going in for a closer look. Whoops, that's not Elvis, it's just the Old Aud"

We weren't triggering the Libs, though, we were just channeling Mojo Nixon.

Elvis is everywhere!

Josh Hawley vying for stupid points:

The conservative lawmaker and running enthusiast recently sent a fundraising email that suggested teaching children about more than one gender was “transgender propaganda.” Any more than that goes “against nature, science and common sense.”

Another jackass for the trash heap.

NRCC yanks Majewski’s ad support over lies (infidelpro.com)
Quote:
Following the discovery that J.R. Majewski’s statements about having served in Afghanistan after 9/11 were lies, the National Republican Congressional Committee has pulled $1 million worth of ad support for the Ohio GOP House candidate.
Quote:
The military records reveal that Majewski, who describes himself as a combat veteran, spent six months at an air base in Qatar, an ally of the United States, assisting with plane loading but did not participate in any actual fighting.

He claimed he served in Afghanistan and even went 40 days without taking a shower since there wasn’t any running water. He also frequently uses his military service in his congressional campaign.

He seems to have succeeded in that emulation, both as a person and with the outcome: Being a massive public failure, and costing himself money and supporters.

That's the first thing I thought about.

I have a relative, by marriage, who is in U.S. Army Special Forces. Everyone in the family knows that he might occasionally just up and leave for weeks at a time. Everyone knows not to ask where he's been, because they know he can't talk about it anyway.

This guy strikes me as one of those guys who hasn't matured emotionally or intellectually since he was talking **** in the 8th grade.

His DD-214 can be found on Twitter. Discharged after 4 years as an airman E-2. A bit of a loser.

Ron DeSantis Appointee Resigns After Alleged KKK Photo Surfaces

A Florida Republican has left his job after a photo of him, allegedly in a Ku Klux Klan costume, made the rounds online.

Gadsden County Commissioner Jeffery Moore, a Republican appointed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in July, resigned from the five-person county board of commissioners on Friday, the Tallahassee Democrat reported.

The photo reportedly shows Moore at a Halloween party wearing a Ku Klux Klan hood and robe, according to the newspaper.

...

The racist costume controversy comes over three years after another DeSantis-appointed official, Florida Secretary of State Michael Ertel, resigned when a photo emerged of him in blackface and dressed as a “Hurricane Katrina victim.”

Now gee whiz!

Considering that the POS DeSantis likes to pretend that he is so very smart and so very capable, then one would have expected that he would have known that having one of your political appointees dressed in a Klan outfit would actually be a detriment to one's political career.

Especially when one considers the fact that DeSantis faced a similar issue about three years ago with another of his political appointees.

Doug Mastriano unveils his plan to save his campaign for governor in Pennsylvania:

Pennsylvania Republican Doug Mastriano calls for 40 days of fasting to save flailing campaign

Quote:
Doug Mastriano, the Trump-endorsed Republican gubernatorial nominee in Pennsylvania, called for 40 days of fasting and prayer as his campaign significantly lags behind Democratic nominee Josh Shaprio.

The call comes after Mr Mastriano’s rally in Harrisburg was poorly attended and his campaign fails to gain traction, The Philadelphia Inquirerreported.

Mr Mastriano has often adopted the language of Christian nationalism and has come under fire for his far-right positions. Most recently, he faced criticism for saying in 2019 that women should be charged with murder if they violated his proposed abortion ban.

Mr Mastriano posted an image of hands open in prayer on his Facebook campaign page on Monday.

“Interceding for our elections, our state, & our nation,” the image says. The image also quotes Isaiah 58:12, which says “Then you will be known as a rebuilder of walls and a restorer of homes.”
I wonder how many of his followers are willing to starve for him? Not many, I bet.

What a Spiritual Welfare Queen!
Instead of working for his campaign himself, he's asking for a Handout from God!

and when pictures of him at Golden Coral come out he will explain that he meant "spiritual fasting" or some nonsense.

What really concerns me is that I think a lot of these nutters have no intention of fairly winning. They aren't appealing to the majority of voters. Just the armed militia types. They want chaos and violence.
