When you are so far right yourself, everyone else in the world is "to the left". So who would you say is right of you?
Also, just because people react even slightly negatively to these silly ploys is not "triggering". It's "sensible". But if that's all you want out of life - getting any sort of reaction out of someone else regardless - you should go talk to Alex Jones about getting a job at Infowars. He's about to get tossed out of his, so there could be vacancy! |

What hurdles? His party controls both the House and the Senate. The only hurdle he has to overcome are his lack of experience in actually setting a legislative agenda, his personality which makes lots of people from his own party not want to work with him and his character, which has causes him to react poorly to criticism and to surround himself with sycophants who are only there to bolster his ego regardless of actual competencies.
What has he accomplished? He's managed to drag out the NAFTA renewal - and will seemingly get nothing additional out of it. He's managed to pass an unpopular tax bill. He's managing to move environmental regulations back, so that his grandchildren will live in a less healthy world. He's managed to poison relations with many nations by acting like a spoiled child. He's managed to get a significant portion of his cabinet to resign because they disagree with him. He's managed to create deeper divides in US society between social classes, races, etc. He's managed to lie more than any other president about a wide range of topics for no purpose. He's reduced government income while increasing spending. He's managed to spend more time golfing in his first year then any of the previous three presidents spent in the 8 years of their terms. He's managed to create a contempt for legal, social and governmental norms. Yep, 45's accomplished quite a bit. |

The Trump/Kim Summit - USA v No. Korea - General Discussion
Frankly my bet is Kim Jong Un sees an opportunity to negotiate a great deal from a fool rather than being intimidated by Trumps bluster. Un also sees an opportunity to drive a small wedge between South Korea and the US. All with the guidance and advice of China. I think Un may be more pragmatic and intelligent than Trump but still a vicious dictator.

Just constantly gainsaying obvious facts shows a certain lack of perspective. But doing so in the face of facts indicates a desire to provoke unnecessary disruption in lieu of any reasoned discourse. So I am being drawn to a conclusion you are of Nordic origin, are cyanose in colour, have an obtuse stature and cranial hirsuteness, and have a preference for residing under bridges. Hardly triggering, more a decision to concentrate my energies on more viable discussions.

Agreed. It also elevates Un to the top level of the global stage, right up there with Donny. Un, and by extension North Korea, is now "somebody to be reckoned with". Whereas previously they were the pariah blacked-out starving nutcase last-Stalinist state on Earth. Donny has legitimised them.

Not what I heard. They're stopping new nuclear tests. Just like the USA, Russia, China, etc.

Yes, they are shutting down nuclear tests. Lying about it won't do any good, they are quite easy to sense. Besides, he doesn't need them anymore.

This is me paying attention to some myopic political ideologues:
Obviously the "right" does not give a rat's ass that future generations will spit on their graves. In part, for robbing them to pay for the deficit-riding tax cuts (which are already being gobbled up by inflation). But mostly for filling the atmosphere with carbon. On the bright side, keep up the good work, and the beleaguered survivors won't know enough about the past to know who to blame for their earthly hell. The only thing you'll have to worry about is whether there really is a vengeful God who will call your souls to account in the hereafter. Yeah, the One who arranged to have his Son tortured to death just to prove how much He "loves" you. Well, that's unlikely. So it looks like you got this. live high on the hog, die, get off easy. |

KJU isn't giving up anything, since his testing facilities got buried when the mountain collapsed on top of it.

As usual his posturing has paid off for him. This is as regular as clock work, the only difference this time is that the USA has been suckered by Un.

The comments that NK already has nuclear weapons are inaccurate. Producing a couple of nuclear explosions is just the first couple of steps toward making weapons. The first low-tech exploding devices you can make are bound to be pretty big, and you would need something to carry it to the target, so the next steps are to start working on making it smaller, and making your delivery systems' weight limits higher, until the two meet. (And then you still need a trigger that you can count on to ignite it at the right time independently.)
Our first two deployable weapons were not our first two explosions, and even the one that was named for how much smaller it was weighed almost 5 tons. They were only "deployable" for the USA because the USA had planes big enough to carry a 5-ton object and sufficient control of the air over target cities for such a plane to survive the flight in (and out). NK has neither of those. They've tested some missiles that can hit some other countries carrying almost no load, but nothing that can carry anywhere near the weight they would need. They still need bigger missiles and smaller bombs. They'll get there if left alone to work on it long enough, but it's still years off. |

I'm a bit boggled about how excited everyone is that Kim (not "Un", that's basically his middle name) has announced a suspension of testing while negotiation is going on. Sounds like sound negotiating practice to me. Note that it's just testing that's suspended, not development or manufacturing. And they can resume whenever they feel like it.
This is going to be tricky for Trump. He's been demanding Kim make all the concessions, now he's going to have to make some for any negotiation to succeed. Which would be denounced as treason if he was a Democrat. |

This article contains a picture of what I assume is Kim's 140 kiloton version. But perhaps the picture is misleading? That wouldn't surprise me.

No, if it were a democrat in charge NK would be continuing to quietly do what they’ve been doing. We would be leading from behind saying if we’re just nice to them they’ll be nice to us. That is how the wimp girly man mom jeans wearing raised by his mother Obama did it.
