It gets slightly more grey if modern southerners are largely ignorant of their own history due to the efforts of those promoting the Lost Cause mythology.

Yes.

I don't see many non-Nazis talking about how it is acceptable to pride in the good aspects of the Third Reich (something that I find quite obscene to write).

Not much. If they have done any research at all, anything but osmosis from casual conversation, then they would certainly had at least fleeting contact with the multitude of sources definitively and conclusively debunking the Lost Cause myth.

At that point their ignorance becomes willful, and their denials ring hollow.
