That last post of cjdelphi's seems a little out of control. Rambling sentences that hardly even bothered with punctuation. Hope we didn't upset the little feller? by persisting in asking for actual evidence.

All these pages because there was a power-outage, a weird sound, and a light he can't explain which somehow proves this was an extraterrestrial encounter.

But this is somehow different than when people with equally mundane video footage claim encounters with ghosts, or angels, or other kinds of woo.

No additional photographs of the location. No video footage of attempts to recreate the footage, even if only to try to support the claims.

Nothing changes.

This idea has come up a couple of times in the thread and this is a slightly worse version of it.

There is no need for the downdraft of an ion engine to be any more dangerous than the downdraft of a helicopter of the same size. You might have some specialized need to go out of your way to make it dangerous but it doesn't have to be (think Harrier Jump Jet here).

And the current mechanisms that we humans use to move air (in the atmosphere) via ion thrusters don't emit ions at all, the ions recombine inside the thruster. And most of the air they move is never ionized in the first place. In fact, whether it's an ion thruster in the atmosphere or in space, the exhaust has to be net neutral even if it's still ionized. The thruster won't work if that isn't the case.

And the part that makes your suggestion a bit more wrong than the earlier ones is the phrase "ionizing particle radiation" which isn't the correct phrase. We are talking ionized air. Which is something you experience during thunderstorms to no ill effect. I'm not sure if even our space based ion thrusters produce particles at speeds that would be consider radiation, but they might be. ETA: Exhaust velocity of our currently operating space based ion thrusters is 1% of 1% of the speed of light, so, no, not radiation. And, again, those are the thrusters operated in space.

Summary:

"How could lights have come on and an electronic sound happen during a power outage, unless there was a beam from an alien spaceship?"

"Actually, there's a device in general use that re-applies power to the lines a few seconds after the start of an outage, briefly if the fault condition is still present, with exactly the timing the video shows, which is often observed to cause fixtures to partially start up, causing lights to flicker and odd sounds."

"Like I said, there's no way the lights could have have come on and an electronic sound happen during a power outage, so there must have been a beam from an alien spaceship."

However, the downdraft of a helicopter the size of a vehicle capable of travelling between Earth orbit and the surface and returning would probably be pretty noticeable for anyone directly underneath it.

Note that I wasn't addressing "noticeable". Helicopters are noticeable. I was just explaining how actual ion thrusters work and how future ones might be expected to actually work. I'm practically off-topic for this thread.

If a spaceship is hovering over the ground using an ion drive, it’s throwing out enough ions to provide thrust equal to its weight. That’s literally what a rocket is.

Rockets can use compressed nitrogen, water (like the fun pump-up water rocket toys), combustion products (i.e., the vast majority of rockets), charged particles (like ion drives), plasma (like VASIMR), or anything else that throws stuff in the opposite of the direction you want to go. If you mount Ma Deuce in the back of your spaceship and pull the trigger, you would have the Fifty Caliber Machine Gun Drive.

Ion drives are low-thrust and high-efficiency by nature, and are excellent for interplanetary applications that can accommodate leisurely maneuvers. You could build something to let you maneuver down near the ground, but it would be as inconspicuous as Thor whirling Mjolnir to smite his homicidal elder sister. And it would make a mess of anything it was hovering over.

That’s the inescapable physical nature of how it works. Ion drives aren’t magic, which is why I suggested to the OP that he invoke something like antigravity, which could accommodate his observations rather than contradict them. But he wasn’t willing to learn. Pity.
I sort off raised the same issue in post 1191 of this thread and was somewhat disabused of my suppositions. In any case "ion drive" seems to be a substitute for magic. Forget electromagnetic effects. I'm sure the acoustic ones would be enough to wake the soundest sleeper.

Someone mentioned that OP had attempted to flog his "theory," such as it was, on other fora or discussion groups. The only one specifically mentioned here was the electrician website.

I searched for OP using the handle he chose for ISF, but didn't find anything. Does anyone have links to his earlier attempts?

I notice that the people posting as 'cjdelphi' at those other forums are pushing the long ago debunked missing time angle. Since our very own cjdelphi dropped that line of argument as soon as it was pointed out that that is how his cheap camera behaves, I have to assume the other cjdelphis at the other forums are just some trolls out for a joy-ride.

cjdelphi, you should find out who those other people are and report them. They are making you look bad.

No way I'm telling my wife that that's due to aliens.

That's censoring him! Silenced for revealing a truth that the super double secret unnamed agency from place unmentioned doesn't want anyone to know.

For reasons no one can ever guess they are out to make sure we never discover these inept and utterly uninteresting aliens can scan our front lawns . Because that blurry out of focus camera interference device sure takes a lot of power from the ion drives.

Well, I'm sure our friend here would agree that we're just a bunch of prognathous bonecrunching knuckle-draggers, but hey, it's a good way to keep the aliens at bay. My goal in life is that when the little green men land they look at me and say "I'm not taking that in my space ship!"

It looks like he was unable to recognise sarcasm. We've seen that before.

The OP has turned up at Cosmoquest. Just Asking Questions, of course. Not even in the Conspiracy or Against the Mainstream forums. This may be amusing.

I think I see his cunning plan - he’s getting them to eliminate things that aren't aliens; note that the “outer space” option he’s suggested is “Satellites reflecting light as it flew past”, not extraterrestrials. Once they’ve eliminated enough terrestrial options he’ll be back to “you can’t explain this therefore aliens”.

What will be interesting is how much information he put here that he holds back there. Like the Google maps stuff. That seems to cover the last of the light patterns he noted, but didn't like the evidence.

If he tries to steer them to his desired explication of lights and abduction it probably won't go well. Someone there will be directed to this site for what our crew found.

I see someone over there has already suggested “a night critter of some sort causing a short”.
