Because the next Republican President is going to pardon everyone involved with Jan 6 as sure as the sun is going to rise tomorrow and we're not going to spend decades without another Republican President.

That's probably what Rhodes is counting on. At least, he was pretty openly defiant in his sentencing statement. He was pretty much screwed either way so trying to appeal to a 2nd term Trump is probably his best bet to get out of prison.

Probably doesn't feel great to hang all your hopes of freedom on a guy that has already passed an opportunity to totally pardon you, but I suppose hope springs eternal.

He should spend another 10 years minimum in prison for being an ex-military terrorist who staged an assault on the Capital, wears an eye patch, married a stripper and yet still manages to be 100% completely suburban dad level lame.

I took it as a funny joke about his eye-patch. Maybe I'm just too simple.

I honestly think only one guy would do that.

"And what was the motive? You didn’t like the new guy," Mehta said, noting that "just because someone supported the former president doesn’t mean they’re a White nationalist."

"Your only regret was you thought you should have brought the weapons, and if you had, you would have hung Nancy Pelosi from a lamppost," Mehta said.

The judge said it’s clear Rhodes "wants democracy in this country to devolve into violence."

"The moment you are released, whenever that may be, you will be ready to take up arms against your government," Mehta said.
In the past Rhodes has claimed that the violence at the riot was “all done by other people.”

When I was reading the book by Mark Owen "No Easy Day", he commented on how the "higher up the food chain the targeted individual was, the bigger a pussy he was”. He was referring to Osama bin Laden who made no attempt at all to defend himself and left it to his family and courier to do so.

Otherwise, they admit that Jan 6th was so bad that they should have impeached Trump.

There is a form of it in reduced time for good behavior, but it is much less generous then most state parole programs. He will spend at least 75% of his sentence unless pardoned.

Agreed. I know De Santis floated a pardon today, but in reality he would want to get reelected, and knows pardoning the likes of Rhodes would hurt him.

Rhodes ' lawyer complained that the prosecution "used Rhodes's words against him".

Uh, that is what prosecutors do, pal. I wonder how some people who practice law ever pass the bar exam.

They will never “admit”. The idea that they will crunch through the logical implications of their positions and realize and admit that they made an inferential error is….. adorable.

They will let them out or keep them in depending on whether a) they even think of them at all, which in Trump’s case may not happen. Pretty sure loyalty is a one-way street for him. b) how much there is a clamour for their release. Some of the other GOP candidates may crack in order to pander to the MAGA base, but then they may also worry that it might alientate the non-lunatic fringe of the party who could still swing elections.

In Club Fed, you can get 54 days off for a year's good behavior, which means One year for every Six years (roughly) so baring a pardon or commutation, Stewie is in for at least 14 yeats.
