We did the maths, giving Trump a softball interview was bad for CNN commercially, very bad. Trump is only good for business if you're a far-right propoganda rag, like Fox.

Reality isn't what you want it to be.

Is CNN doing any worse than the other cable news channels?

I don't think people fully appreciate how rapidly cable news is declining.

Quote:
The share of Americans who say they watch television via cable or satellite has plunged from 76% in 2015 to 56% this year (2021), according to a new Pew Research Center survey of U.S. adults. Some 71% of those who do not use cable or satellite services say it’s because they can access the content they want online, while 69% say the cost of cable and satellite services is too high and 45% say they do not often watch TV.
https://www.pewresearch.org/short-re...-s-since-2015/

I'm going to guess that a lot of these cable networks become increasingly more conservative as they pander to the elderly population that are increasingly the only people that keep buying cable subscriptions. CNN's attempt to pivot to streaming was a spectacular failure:

"Reality" is that without the amplified commentary that you perhaps read and believed on social media that most people do not read, the ratings were much better. Way more eyeballs.
If they can skirt the trolls affecting ad sales, perhaps they can stay above water. I dont think it is possible.
Cable is dying. CNN is crap. Anything which has a block that has 5 minutes to speak about a serious topic, with people speaking over each other, is doomed. And I, for one, wish them a rapid demise.

All propaganda cable channels that have this short form news are barely treading water....10 years from now? Gone. Dead.

But I cut my cable cord 10 years ago, so perhaps I am biased.

I am libertarian leaning. Not left or right....just let people speak without suppression in any area, even if I am not the one to read it.

Your bashing of something about him that is kardashian-esque is telling. Such a basic low IQ trolling.
Who cares about that. Biden has the worst hair plugs, and fake teeth, and a face lift to boot. Do you care about that?

I don't know about hair plugs or a facelift, but are you seriously saying that an old person having dentures is in the same category?

I am saying that arguing an issue based on anyones cosmetic choices means you have run out of real arguments and just want to make fun of someone for their looks. It's juvenile. It could be funny I suppose if it is done in a clever way.

I question the inclusion of eating-bones in the category of 'cosmetic choices'. Who doesn't need to eat?

Sure. I apologize to Biden if his dental care over his tenure was so poor that he needed fake teeth to eat and survive. My parents are older than he is and do not have fake teeth. Maybe he has poor eating habits. Maybe I was biased. I give him a pass on the fake teeth.

Hair plugs and face lifts are not necessary.

But Donal wasn't "arguing an issue based on anyones (sic) cosmetic choices". He said "If you like what Lord HAirplugs has done with Twitter" meaning Musk's actions since buying Twitter, not his cosmetic choices.

Dont care. I like that the government influence in what was promoted/allowed/deleted/warned/demoted with social media was exposed. That's it. No hairplugs or fake anything commentary needed.

That he paid an overpriced bundle and then exposed the problems with the company he bought, potentially opening himself up for lawsuits, is admirable...and maybe a bit stupid as well. Financially.

The involvement/collusion of the FBI and the US govt to promote it's "true lies" was deplorable. Wont make me tweet but it's the right direction from where it was if a bit overcorrected at the moment.

That's more of an inference than an insinuation. You plainly don't know what has been happening.

I don't think a Pence town hall will prove to be the ratings bonanza for CNN the Trump one was, by any means.

I, frankly, would feel guilty watching some a watershed, magnus opus moment on simple free TV.

It should be on Pay Per View.

I really don't understand this one at all. Who is going to watch this? Who is Pence's constituency? There are probably more conservatives who think he should be executed for treason than would ever vote for him. Outside that he is a somewhat marginal figure that is best known for being Trump's mostly unused vice president.

I think this is more about the appearance of impartiality. Remember in 2015, SNL for some unholy reason had Trump host. NBC, being a broadcast network, was required by the FCC to offer equal time to any other declared candidate. A few took them up on it.

CNN, being cable, is not required to do the same. They must be doing it for appearances.

A CNN Town Hall with Nikki Haley is up first on June 4. The one with Pence will be on the 7th. Both in Iowa.

I have little desire to watch either one.

Gotta consider who's even a cable TV audience anymore these days:

Quote:
According to Nielsen Live +7-day data, in 2017 CNN’s median age was 60, while the median age of the Fox News and MSNBC viewer was 65.

Cable news is basically aging out with the boomers, makes sense that it's going to trend conservative.

This minimizes the bat **** crazy stuff that's broadcast on Fox on a daily basis. I'm dubious you could point to one instance of CNN foisting absurd conspiracy theories.

I'm not sure, but I'm guessing the Trump one had viewers who love to hate him, not just those who love him.

Pence doesn't attract such strong feelings on both sides.
