Way too many boats, too close together, moving too fast for the distances between them. I suspect wake issues, rocking, tipping, flooding, etc.
Boating is one of those things that requires a lot of awareness of how your behavior impacts others around you. Not shocked Trumpers are having trouble with it. |

Too dumb to social distance even in boats.

Probably ninja'd on this but the "armless vet" touched by Trump never served in the military because of being born without arms.

This isn't getting way enough traction that it deserves. He is trying to assert this as evidence that he cares - that he called Mel in the White House.
IT'S A FRIGGIN LIE His alibi does not hold up. If this were a black person accused of a crime, how far would it go for them to claim that they called someone thousands of miles away when they were staying with them? Shoot, that wouldn't even work for a white person accused of a crime. But the president is just allowed to make up a nonsense alibi? |

I think a different paragraph perfectly sums up the Trump presidency.
Quote:
2) Rather than admit that he made a poor decision, he accuses others of ******* him over. I would be amazed if Trump could give a coherent answer to the question “why was there fallout after you didn’t show up?” |

It's not just a poor decision, though. Even if he wanted to be apologetic, what would he be apologizing for? His mortal fear of precipitation? His terminal laziness? His petulance at being made to feel like an outsider by his European betters?
Unfortunately for President Piece O'****, there was never going to be a good explanation/excuse/lie for why he wouldn't drag himself out of his room to make this scheduled appearance. |

I think we're going to be seeing a lot more of this type of thing, but mostly in car parades. I just saw a Facebook post setting one up for tomorrow afternoon. For celebrating America in general and Trump in particular. I was pissed -- why not make it inclusive? Situations like this can only inflame tensions. I didn't bother replying as I don't want to get involved in any political posting on FB. Which, among my Friends, has held up pretty well.

I’m having a hard time imagining that he’d be willing to walk across the room to save the lives of four Americans he didn’t know. And if you told him that he would not receive any recognition at all for doing it? I could more easily imagine that the StarWars universe is real.

Most immediate reactions:
1. ew, gross. I'd probably feel gross where he touched me for hours or days. 2. touching someone's face sounds like a genuine act of emotion and empathy, the kind of thing you do not for optics or ratings, but because you really care. In other words, there is no way this story is true. 3. the Trump was Einstein, and everyone applauded! |

"Antifa Navy" is currently trending on Twitter, as self-proclaimed admirals are announcing that an operation to sink the boats of Trump supporters with soup-torpedoes was a smashing success.

It's just a bunch of owners of pleasure boats, large and small, on the lake at the same time. It's not too different from any other summer day at a large lake, the difference in this case being that Trump supporters made arrangements to festoon their boats with Trump campaign flags all at the same time.
Trump-support has become something of a cult of personality; for the supporters, their status AS "Trump supporters" has invaded every aspect of their identity, so that many of them are taking completely mundane personal or family events - like a trip to the lake, or a family barbecue, a wedding in at least one instance - and turning them into ad-hoc political rallies by having everyone wear clothing or carry flags proclaiming devotion to Trump. |

A compendium of Trump's tweets might aptly be titled Screaming from the Bunker: The Ravings of a Lunatic.

Nah, Trump's not fanning the flames of violence. His rhetoric isn't encouraging these Second Amendment Gun Rights Militia nut jobs to commit violence. Not at all:
Feds Charge ‘Second Amendment Militia’ Members Who Allegedly Wanted to ‘Pick People Off’ During Kenosha Protests

Can't judge how true this is myself, as I know nothing about AlterNet or what it means or doesn't mean when candidates stop advertising, but either way I liked this quote:
But that’s a separate debate. Fact is, presidential campaigns advertise. And if they don’t, it’s because they don’t have the money to do so. That goes extra for Trump, who was forcing his campaign to advertise in indigo blue Washington DC so he could watch himself during his copious daily TV time. The Trump train in a nutshell. |
