Somehow, this glitched out my usual habit of misreading thread titles in the perviest possible way.

Me: "Oh, what would be so bad about a Bob Seger statue...and how do I even know that name?"

It's not that I particularly like the statue (truth be told, I really don't like it at all) but I despise anyone who campaigns against art. **** that dude and the statue of a horse he rode in on.
Or, perhaps, with it!!!!

We live in a time when bad art is more impactful than good art.

I would pay to hit that with a sledge hammer.

Mermaid horses? Why is that not a huge franchise delighting millions of young girls with cartoons, movies, toys, and accessories?

Boob Seagull looks like something that you'd see in an amusement park that closed 30 years ago.

Or something that would be in the background of a Silent Hill screenshot, covered in rust and blood, with a cryptic clue scratched into it.

The bad artists who do bad art usually have a Patron. Somebody with an emotional attachment to the artist, who buys every bit if "ART" they make. And supplies a PR agent too. Pretty soon, we all hear about what a great artist 'Jaqui" is.

But what we miss is the Performance Art aspect. See, a big part of the Art is when the artist puts his check in the bank, laughing at us all the way. Meantime, the patron has al these big ugly statues, and can't do a thing with them- except donate them to the nearest municipality that is dumb enough to take them.

THe guy is outraged over the wrong thing. He should be outraged at taxpayer's money going to pay for crappy art like that.

I am no fan of the LDS church, but their Seagull statue in Temple Square in Salt Lake City is a 100 times better.

He should worry more about the statue coming to life and hunting him down to avenge his insults. It may curse him to grow his own stiff inappropriate boobs.

All the statues are loaned by the artists for this temporary summer exhibition so the taxpayers aren't paying for the statues.

To be fair to Jrrarglblarg, in the first photo I also thought it looked like a shipping pallet. Photos I've looked at since show it to be a rather nice wooden stand for the statue.
