My mommy always said there were no monsters - no real ones - but there are.

Don Jr. lied to Congress about what he knew about Trump Moscow.
I'm sure there is an indictment in the tubes, ready to launch, but prosecutors might be waiting for the right moment.

Rule of So! Fantastic. I will put aside the obvious groveling defense of admitted multiple felon Michael Cohen to note:

Michael Cohen pled guilty because Michael Cohen and his wife committed multiple tax fraud felonies that had nothing to do with Cohen's clients. Cohen rolled on his clients to keep his wife out of jail

That folks is why the rule of so exists.

And their review is limited to statements he makes in public, for public consumption. Imagine what could be mined from his personal interactions.

I found a Trump tweet from less than a year ago that has aged beautifully.

Quote:
The New York Times and a third rate reporter named Maggie Haberman, known as a Crooked H flunkie who I don’t speak to and have nothing to do with, are going out of their way to destroy Michael Cohen and his relationship with me in the hope that he will “flip.” They use....

....non-existent “sources” and a drunk/drugged up loser who hates Michael, a fine person with a wonderful family. Michael is a businessman for his own account/lawyer who I have always liked & respected. Most people will flip if the Government lets them out of trouble, even if....

....it means lying or making up stories. Sorry, I don’t see Michael doing that despite the horrible Witch Hunt and the dishonest media!
Nobody else in this thread has defended Cohen as much as Trump and Big Dog have.

Just imagine the degree of zeal, the blind devotion, the frothy mental state, the utter and complete commitment to Dear Leader no matter what he says and does, for (apparently) educated Trump cultists to get so worked up that they call a person who crosses Trump a "literal monster".

These cultists provide a glimmer of hope for mob bosses, who would skate free in their twisted fantasy world.

I thought that this sort of highlighted how committed the GOP Reps. were to their talking points.

The first time that Cohen responded to the accusation that the boxes of documents he had in storage had been withheld from the Mueller investigation he quite promptly pointed out that they were materials which had been returned to him by the Mueller investigation.

Then this same claim pops up again and again.

It's almost as if the GOP Reps. were going down a checklist they had all been given of points to bring up, and not paying any attention at all to the statements actually being made by the man they were supposedly questioning.

But that would be too bizarre to imagine.

I hate to be so superficial, but her presentation was weak. When you stumble badly on your own speech in the same place twice, that's a problem indicative of trying too hard, failing to use simple, concise language.

I guess it depends on how much you limit the definition of "monster".

Josef Mengele would qualify as "literally" a monster in my book. Also Pol Pot.

Quite a few others, I expect, but you get the idea.

Of course this doesn't mean that everyone described as a monster actually is one, but that is the fault of the speaker, not the word.

I loved the bit where Cohen showed a check from Trump, which was signed by Trump, and which was used to reimburse Cohen for the hush money that he paid to porn star Storm Daniels in order to keep her quiet about the affair that she had with Trump.

Also, Trump provided this check to Cohen after Trump became the president and after Trump denied paying any hush money to Stormy Daniels.

There were also several other details that Cohen discussed which showed that Trump fraudulently inflated the value of his real estate holdings in order to get a larger loan from the bank. Which is felony by the way.

Therefore, the Cohen testimony might be adequate justification to look into the Trump finances with great scrutiny.

I listened to a couple of hours and read the highlights. It's really sad that this is the best we can do, these Congresscritters. Of all people, AOC had some of the most purposeful questioning, getting names of people that the committee could call in the future. I was embarrassed for some of these numbnuts bloviating or focusing on minutiae instead of asking good questions.

If Trump is indicted, impeached or otherwise flipped or destroyed, I wonder how fast TBD will turn against him.
