I searched the thread, and did not see a reference to Rep. Gaetz' fiancée. She is 12 years his junior, and her name is Ginger Luckey. Her name just struck me as funny, but that's quite juvenile on my part.

Also - apparently Atty General Barr made a special effort not to be seen in public with Gaetz once he knew what was going on. He apparently canceled at least one public appearance when he found out that Gaetz would be there. Smart guy. Evil, but smart.

Probably not since Gaetz is claiming that his father wore a wire and recorded a conversation with the con artists.

In any case, it still doesn't explain what the initial Gaetz investigation was about. That is what is seriously lacking in all this. Gaetz is just pointing at the con artists and screaming that that explains everything, but it really doesn't.

The Tucker Carlson interview didn't clarify anything. "There are no pictures of me at an underage orgy! You were once falsely accused of sexual offenses! This is a Deep State smear! We went on a double date a few years ago! My father wore a wire! Giving presents to someone you are dating is completely acceptable! Seventeen year old females are called women! Release the tapes!"

I think it's just Chewbacca defense nonsense. Gaetz is hoping that if he throws enough confusing misinformation and misdirection into the mix, the truth will become unattainable.

That's more or less how this goes - I don't think this should be prosecuted as such for this alone (unless he's posting nudes of the girl without permission, in which case throw the book at him), just as far as prison time goes, but the guy's in his mid-late 30s - a guy that age really shouldn't be with a high-school age girl.

And *somehow*, Gaetz fell under the eyes of the FBI while they were investigating this scumbag. So that's as far as what's publicly known for now.

(And all this is based on Twitter reports, including the Sentinel piece I linked to above, so take with a grain of salt of course...but there's still the matter of his poolboy as well.)

To generalize I'd think it was guilt and self loathing. They want it to be against the law all the while pretending to themselves it's just temptation they've given in to.

No, you have misread my post. I'm not anti-gay, I'm very much for the concept that people have the right to be who they are (within the law) without judgement from me or anyone else.

What I am praising is those Republicans pressuring Craig to resign, not because he was gay, but because he committed a criminal act. Performing a sex act in a public area (gay or otherwise) is a crime - if you get caught shagging a woman in a public area, you have been caught committing a crime (just ask actor Hugh Grant)

Unfortunately that standard has long since lapsed - no matter what vile things (including crimes) GOP congress-critters commit these days, their tribe backs their fellow tribe member to the hilt.

Not sure I share your optimistic view of that past time, and even worse that that happens to be an optimistic appraisal of the GOP compared to now. Not sure if the Craig incident were to happen today that it wouldn't play out the same way.

She is 12 years his junior, and her name is Ginger Luckey. Her name just struck me as funny, but that's quite juvenile on my part. And somehow, Gaetz fell under the eyes of the FBI while they were investigating this scumbag. So that's as far as what's publicly known for now. (And all this is based on Twitter reports, including the Sentinel piece I linked to above, so take with a grain of salt of course...but there's still the matter of his poolboy as well.)

I'm not anti-gay, I'm very much for the concept that people have the right to be who they are (within the law) without judgement from me or anyone else. What I am praising is those Republicans pressuring Craig to resign, not because he was gay, but because he committed a criminal act. Performing a sex act in a public area (gay or otherwise) is a crime - if you get caught shagging a woman in a public area, you have been caught committing a crime (just ask actor Hugh Grant) Unfortunately that standard has long since lapsed - no matter what vile things (including crimes) GOP congress-critters commit these days, their tribe backs their fellow tribe member to the hilt.
