The 9/11 Truther comic book
I can't wait to read the 9/11 Truther comic book:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/0..._n_881108.html Somehow I think the comic book is most appropriate forum for 9/11 lunacy- Given the multiple theories within Trutherism (no planers, holograms, alien lasers, etc), i wonder which one(s) they will focus on? If anything, the delusions presented will be good for comedy.. Notice the ignorance of the Truther readers comments under the HP article .... |

It's like it's 2006 all over again. One thing that's always amazed (confused?) me about Truthers is that they claim to be looking for the truth but never seem to look beyond the point that their sides original claims were made to see if maybe, just maybe, they actually got an answer to their own questions. From the comments following that article I gather not. This tells me that they aren't actually looking for the truth but are looking for political scapegoats.

The comic is called 9/11: The Big Lie and it's supposed the first in a series. Rick Veitch, the writer and artist was interviewed by USA Today.

Ready? I expected it in the OP.
(Stock Disclaimer: I'm not a truther. I concede that I find the general standards of this forum quite demanding and consequently find the abandonment of them for certain subjects quite distasteful. When it's wrong, it's wrong, even if the 'right' side does it.) |

This issue has been discussed ad infinitum. Please read the relevant threads on this forum re: Holocaust denial and the 9/11 Truth Movement. Also check out this thread on the CT forum. Almost every Holocaust denier on that thread is a 9/11 truther.
It is not a very big leap from believing we were lied to about 9/11 to believing "they" lied to us about the Holocaust, too, and truthers have few problems with the Holocaust deniers in their movement as the video below illustrates.

When a group, any group, has a sizable subset of its membership that all hold a certain set of beliefs, the rest of that group will become associated with them unless they actively and persistently distance themselves from them. The "Organized" truthers have allowed themselves (either on purpose because they share those same beliefs or because they are just that naive) to become associated with Holocaust Deniers. This is not in dispute, what some will dispute is that they hold those same beliefs. I'm not going to judge them on that because to be honest I don't know them well enough to determine whether they are saying that to deflect the criticism that they know will soon follow or if they actually don't hold those beliefs. In this context it doesn't matter what they personally believe. They have already allowed the people holding those types of views into their little club and have embraced them as kindred spirits. You are known by the friends that you keep and if you keep counting racists and their kind as your friends other people will think that you agree with them. Once that association has been made it will take much longer to disassociate from them in the court of public opinion.
In the navy we had a saying (cleaned up here for the mods). "One Aww Poop will erase a thousand atta boy's". The main thrust of that is that people will always remember your screw ups a lot longer than the thousand other times that you got it right. The first step in fixing that is to admit that you made a mistake and then by doing everything within your power to correct it and not make that same mistake again. The truthers have yet to even admit that they made a mistake by including the Holocaust Deniers within the circle of their friends and then doing something about it. This does nothing to alleviate other peoples perceptions that ALL truthers hold at least some of the same racist beliefs or (and this is almost as damning) don't care what they think as long as they agree with them on this one point. While it's true that politics can make strange bedfellows there is a point where people just won't tolerate bestiality and kiddie porn no matter what else the pig ****** and kiddie diddler did that they agree with. Truthers apparently haven't reached that point. |

Actually this is the second comic book of 9-11 Truthy Truth. There was another one about a guy whose wife and kid died in the Towers, illustrated by Spain Rodriguez that was planned as a seven-issue series. It never was published and the one issue was posted on the website.

This is astounding. It's almost like 9/11 Truth is a call for funding for the unemployed and ignored. You need money for your comic book? Call 9/11 Truth. You need money for a trip somewhere? Say you're going there to spread the Truth and ask for the cash from strangers. You need money to pay your rent and feed the kids? Set up a Internet 9/11 Truth cast and start the call for cash. It's almost as if it's a White trash replacement for food stamps.

A comic book about 9/11 "truth"? Sounds like a pleonasm.

If they can't raise $25K -- most of which probably covers "expenses" like overdue rent and munchies, if it's anything like other Truther charity drives -- they can always publish it in Bentham for a fraction of that.
Just think, the world's first peer-reviewed comic book! |

Perhaps a coloring book would be more appropriate. Or maybe a "paint with water" book, with all the conclusions filled in ahead of time. All the truthers need to provide is misconceptions.

Love the comment is the article that he's "not a truther, but doesn't believe the government".
Irony is ironic. |

I am a comic collector and this makes me sad because Veitch and Erskine are actually good writers. However, likely they do not not have much in the way scientific edumacation otherwise they would know not to open their yaps about this. (Much like many of the Hollywood celebrities and their do-gooder causes.)
