This thread strikes me as highly irrational, making jokes appealing to the lowest common denominator, and I fear is all is the first sine of madness for you folks.

None of this is integral to the subject at hand.

Listen to a Truther ramble, point out they can't back up any of their claims, they will usually go on a angry diatribe about Bush & Cheney were behind everything (in the case of leftist Truthers) or how Jews in America were behind everything (in the case of right wing Truthers). Last 4th of July I saw Truthers protesting in my city- i suspect i'll see that this year as well. I might toss them some change out of pity

I don't think that's what the title of "Loose Change" was supposed to imply. But, if the "movement" is destined to ultimately evolve into a style of panhandling, it would certainly be ironically prescient. Hand-scrawled signs on pieces of corrugated cardboard reading "9/11 Was An Inside Job" could replace the current ones reading "Disabled Vet" and "Hungry Please Help." As for hating the U.S., I think i's been completely obvious for a long time (to the point of "water is wet" redundancy to even mention it) that at least a significant portion of the Truth Movement is motivated that way (with additional subtle distinctions between those who hate the U.S. specifically, those who hate anything that tolerates Jews, those who hate major components of Western civilization, those who hate the "elitism" of scholarship and expertise, and so forth). That is also the point where the "mere trolls" merge seamlessly into the overall "movement." When the motive is, "I've noticed that some people I hate are sensitive about 9/11 so I'll annoy them by talking trash about it," any distinction between troll and true believer disappears. Respectfully, Myriad |

My .02
I believe that many Globalist/NWO/9/11 "Truth" followers suffer from a view of reality filtered through popular fiction. They truely believe that every government department, every corporation and every "elite" entity has a on-call crew of professional killers that do their work perfectly and without question - a construct that only exists in fiction. The average type of believer that I've met seems much more inclined to believe the fantastic and the improbable before mundane reality, and in fact are disapointed in the extreme with their own everyday life as opposed to their "work" involving their CT beliefs. Projection? that could be something to consider, as it would fit right in with master of the universe fantasies. |

One of the things that the fringe right and the fringe left have in common is their hatred for the United States. The fringe right hates it because we've gotten away from God, because we've become too socialistic, because we don't have unfettered capitalism. And the fringe left hates it because we're too religious, we aren't socialistic enough, and we have unfettered capitalism.
And the Truthers, by and large, are either fringe right or fringe left; Alex Jones or Carol Brouillet. |

First, thanks to fellow JREFer's for the kind words. I have not visited the thread since I made that post.
I do not describe myself as a 'patriot'. I am worse than that, I am one of those bonafide gun-toting, 'teabagging' conservatives. However, having been very politically active and in doing historical research, I am very much aware that our government (or some folks in it) are quite capable of some nasty things. So no, I don't believe the governments version of events w/o evidence. That does not mean I am an 'inside jobby' kind of guy. I just demand the best available evidence and do my best to evaluate it with an open mind and with consideration of all views, no matter how loony, until the evidence eliminates them. Some folks here already know that I have consulted with former 911 Commission staffers (and continue to do so). When something is outside my area of experience, I seek out the very best and brightest for their input. Along the way, I've been blessed with feed-back from NORAD, RADES, FAA staff, and some rather well-known researchers/authors who have contribited greatly to the field. However, I also work with many who are active in the truth movement. P4T is right now upset because some of them have taken to my defense in regards to a recent attack on me. Just head over to the forum and look up the latest J. Farmer thread. As recent as Monday I helped Gaffney (truther) with a radio forum for OIT students. Last year I assisted with a History channel (historical) documentary. So my point is that being a truther does not mean a person is mentally ill or un-patriotic. Unfortunately, the nut-cases tend to be the most vocal. They sit in their darkened rooms paranoid that the NWO stormtroopers will be arriving at any moment to take them away to the FEMA camps. Most people here are smart enough to understand that, hence the 'twoofer' designation to keep them seperate. I post on JREF because there are some very talented and competent folks who hang out here. I bounce new information off them to get reasoned feed-back.Quite frankly I've learned a lot from them. We certainly don't agree on everything, but we can reasonably disagree. Since like Rush, I am 99 percent correct, I am man enough to let these guys think they are right every now and then So no, I don't buy into the un-American or un-patriotic thingy. |
