Max, TAM, and the ABC's

---

TAM,

This list you are making is very useful.

May I suggest that alphabetizing it would make it much more useful still!

Thanks for your great work.

Max

I would second the request to put it in alphabetical order.

If it is feasible, the use of the table tags might help as well; that is
[table][b]Poster[/b]|[b]Credentials[/b]
Gumboot:|[list=1][*]Bachelor of Performing and Screen Arts (BPSA) majoring in Film and Television, with specialisations in Production and Cinematography.[/list]
Stateofgrace:|[list=1][*]BSc Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
[*]9 years in UK Royal Navy as an electrical engineer.
[*]12 years as offshore engineer, working on hydraulic and high voltage systems.[/list]
[/table]

would produce:
PosterCredentials
Gumboot:
  1. Bachelor of Performing and Screen Arts (BPSA) majoring in Film and Television, with specialisations in Production and Cinematography.
Stateofgrace:
  1. BSc Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
  2. 9 years in UK Royal Navy as an electrical engineer.
  3. 12 years as offshore engineer, working on hydraulic and high voltage systems.

If necessary, I can probably work up a script for Windows or Linux that'll convert a .CSV file to the above form, if you want.

(P.S. Just discovered the [noparse] tag; useful when you want to post instructions on how to use tags.)

ETA: PM me if you want such a script.

lol...when I started it, it was small enough that an order wasnt needed, but I can see now that it is...the next version, if I remember to do so, will be in alphabetical order...

How about listing it in reverse alphabetical order instead? Seriously. For those whose surnames start wtih A, B or C, it's old hat to be at the beginning of the alphebetical listing, but I've long been an advocate of reverse alphabetical order, just to make it up to those whose names don't start at the top of the alphabet.

For the record, this suggestion neither helps nor hurts me much since my I.D. is LashL, which is probably right around the middle of the alphabetical listing, and probably would even end up in the latter part of a reverse alphabetical listing. But while I certainly see the validity in an alphabetical sorting, I do not see why it has to be - or should be - listed from A-Z rather than Z-A. In fact, when I've been in a position to "call the list" in court, I deliberately called the list from Z to A instead of from A to Z, just because I could. Admittedly, it drove the court staff nuts, but that, too, was fun and was certainly worth it to make the point for those whose surnames happen to start with any letter in the latter half of the alphabet.

Just my $0.02 worth, of course.

Nah. Let's sort it by the MD5 hash on the poster's name.

Why are you all looking at me funny?

Well I think, LashL, despite your VALID suggestion, that it might be a little confusing for some, and given that we are dealing with USERNAMES, which people chose, rather than birth names, which they had forced upon them, I will stick with A-Z. IF you like, I can provide both, and people can use which ever they prefer...lol

MagZ:

I have removed you from my ignore list. Until I see another anti-semitic comment from you, I will keep it as such (not that you care, but you were the only one to ever be on my list). Your suggestion to Cheap Shot is polite and well advised. I hope your motives are pure, as some of your previous posting, would make me think otherwise.

I will try to keep my comments concerning Jews to appropriate threads. Also, it would helpful if others stop tying to bait me.

Updated list - experimental format, sorted by name

Just for fun, I grabbed T.A.M.'s latest post, added most of the new ones (except Devil's Advocate; I'm not sure how that would fit in), and ran it through an awk script I made up to sort and format it. In theory, I could also try to figure out (and count) standard degrees. The awk script, by the way, is only 32 lines (including a few blank lines for formatting), and was fed basically a copy & paste (text) from T.A.M.'s last list. The result (everything from here on in):

  2. As part of on-going career development, I took a college-level course in arson investigations.
  3. Over the course of years, I had occassion to teach classes in the use of improvised weapons and foreign weapons, as well as other esoteric subjects for my duty section.
  4. ETS in 1970 and returned to college, majoring in Special Education. Decided at the begining of my senior year and the end of the money that I was in the wrong major. (I was doing just fine until I had to deal with autistic clients. )
  5. Returned to active duty in US Army, PMOS 94B30, Food Service Sergeant, SMOS 51M30, Fire Protection Sergeant. With my educational background, I caught a lot of the training duties for my section, which meant being sent to fill a seat at classes dealing with basic soldier skills, unit-specific issues and legal concerns. Then I had to come back and give the classes to my section.
  • Field duty with infantry units usually left me with a lot of down time to read, and access to the trasining NCOs. Getting on their good side provided me an opportunity to watch or participate in a lot of training prep, including things like preparing ANFO simulators and demolition charges and remote triggering devices and what not.
  • I retired with disability after a total of 14 1/2 years as a result of a bicycle accident. Surprising what you can learn about the health care system when you have a unique medical issue and access to a major teaching hospital. The metal parts since installed in my shoulder make an interesting training aid for security personnel.
  • I currently work part time in a variety of day-labor jobs and as a role-player in training scenarios. Don't ask why I have to be evasive sometimes about what that entails. You probably know the drill.
  • While in Libya, I attempted, with little success, to learn Arabic, but it did get me into places that the average American with an attitude could not go. I have even read the Q'uran cover-to-cover. Just let someone try to repeat the hawkish interpretation of 2. s 191 in my presence. First of all, I will recite the WHOLE passage, starting from verse 190, as it should. It means something entirely different from what Hannity, O'Reilly or the fat deaf junky would have you believe.
  • I speak rather decent German, and that gave me a different perspective on how Europeans view us. I also spent a year in Korea and became completely immersed in Korean village life.

FYI, here's the script (bit of cleanup done, so it's now 51 lines):
Code:
BEGIN {
    poster="";
    qualcount = 0;
    block = 0;
    IGNORECASE=1;
}

/:$/ {
    if (poster == "") {
        poster=$0;
        sub(":$", "", poster);
        qualcount = 0;
        next;
    }
}

/^$/ {
    posters[count] = poster "|[list=1]";
    for(q = 1; q <= qualcount; q++) {
        posters[count] = posters[count] "\n[*]" qual[q];
    }
    posters[count] = posters[count] "\n[/list]\n\n";
    poster = "";
    block = 0;
    count++;
    delete qual;
    next;
}

/^[0-9]+\. / {
    sub(/^[0-9]+\. /, "");
    qualcount++;
    qual[qualcount] = $0;
    next;
}

{
    if (block == 0) {
        qual[qualcount] = qual[qualcount] "[/list][list]\n";
        block = 1;
    }
    qual[qualcount] = qual[qualcount] "[*]" $0; next;
}

END {
    n = asort(posters);
    printf "%d individuals:\n\n[table]", n;
    for (p = 1; p <= n; p++) print posters[p];
    print "[/table]";
}

T.A.M., you just download and install gawk from:
http://sourceforge.net/project/downl...wk-3.1.3-2.exe
Then:
  1. Save the list as a .txt file, in, say, C:\stuff\fearlessfighters.txt
  2. Save my script (in, say C:\stuff\maketable.txt).
  3. Open a command window. (You can do that from the Start menu by choosing Run... and then typing cmd in the little window that comes up.)
  4. Type:
    Code:
    gawk -f C:\stuff\maketable.txt  c:\stuff\fearlessfighters.txt >c:\stuff\ready-to-post.txt
  5. Open c:\stuff\ready-to-post.txt in, say, Notepad.
  6. Copy & paste into a new post.
  7. ???
  8. Profit!
The hardest part of this the command-line stuff. It might be possible to make it even easier, but then the programming behind it gets more complicated - and I'm not a real fan of making complicated programs for simple tasks. Mind you, as a old geek/programmer, this is simple stuff for me; other people might find it a bit ... scary, even.

Knowing some basic command-line stuff is a useful thing, by the way. There are a few things that are quicker or not accessible any other way.

ETA: Actually, the 'gawk' command might be a bit different, because of where it gets installed. Regardless, it should be possible to put all of this into a DOS script (i.e. .BAT or .CMD) that would work provided you always saved the files to the same place. In other words, if you always save the text list to C:\JREF\jref_list.txt and get the ready-to-post list from C:\JREF\ready-to-post.txt - and my little script is saved as C:\JREF\format_list.txt - then copy & pasting this little bit into a file called make_post_list.bat (or any name you like as long as it ends in .BAT) would simplify the work:
Code:
@"C:\Program Files\GNUWin32\bin\gawk" -f C:\JREF\format_list.txt C:\JREF\jref_list.txt >C:\JREF\ready-to-post.txt
@notepad C:\JREF\ready-to-post.txt
So then the steps are:
  1. Update C:\JREF\jref_list.txt
  2. Double click on make_post_list.bat (wherever you've put it - it can be anywhere).
  3. You'll get the ready-to-post list in Notepad. Type control-A, control-C. (That's select all, copy.)
  4. Go to the browser window, press control-v (paste) in the post box, and hit submit.
That's it. Sorted list every time, and you don't need to keep the original list in order, either.

I need to get some expertise so I can get on that list. I thought of some new qualifications. Maybe these will do.
  • I can throw a football 80 yards.
  • When I was twelve I set an unofficial world record for catching coins off my elbow.
  • Arthur Miller once played a practical joke on me.
  • I used to be able to recite "A Child's Christmas in Wales" from memory, but no so much anymore.
  • I received news coverage in Vienna for waltzing to the Blue Danube Waltz in the Danube.
  • I have one of the largest collections of American popular song owned by a non-homosexual.
  • I am a dog whisperer.

I suppose I can add something here; I have a bachelor's degree in psychology (enables me to spot the BS *G*) and I'm working on a Masters degree in Strategic Intelligence. I have five, almost six years in the US Army with a background in military intelligence, and I currently work in the US Intelligence Community. So basically I'm reasonably qualified to speak to the workings of the government and their likely actions in response to the supposed warnings prior to 9/11.

I stayed in a Holiday Inn Express while traveling with some friends once...

...it smelled strongly of paint and I slept on the floor.

But, on the other hand, I'm now qualified to perform surgery. Move over, TAM, there's a new doct... oh [rule 10] I just sliced my own hand open, excuse me a moment.

I studied first year logic in the philosophy department of Wollongong University 1983.(pass conceded)

I bet you aren't wondering why I didn't post that earlier.

Lost on the way to kindergarten and somehow found myself down to ground zero NYC where I was taken in and raised by a pack of wild "Inside Job" conspiracy theorist.

Then later on…

I’m a trained commercial artist
Graduated from Kean in NJ (but not for art)
I presently work in the IT field (I received additional training for this also)

FWIW

9 O Levels, 4 Highers, 1 CSYS (Scottish High School Equivalent exams)

MA (Hons) in Politics and Modern History (University of Edinburgh 1980-84)

PGCSE Modern Studies and History (Scottish teaching qualification)

I believe that the "original" theory - i.e. the result of extensive study of the available evidence by qualified and experienced professionals - is essentially correct.

BA (yes, BA) physics (space physics concentration) and anthropology
MS, electrical engineering
MS, systems engineering/engineering management

15 years space engineering experience, including laboratory vacuum systems operations, flight software/firmware development, payload and satellite/Shuttle integration and test, crew training, mission simulations, satellite operations (payload controller during three STS missions); ground segment integration and test for space-based launch detection warning system, including USAF satellite control network training; ground segment software development, integration, and test, and flight control for commercial high-resolution imaging spacecraft; aerospace nuclear systems engineering.

As far as what's actually relevant to 9/11 issues from the above? I have nodding familiarity with materials issues and testing, but I'm not a materials or structures guy by any means. I've had a clearance or two, and experience working with NASA, DOE, and DoD types, and worked for small, medium, and large outfits, so I've got some sense of and training in how various organizations function.

Also, 5+ years experience firefighter/EMT-B (volunteer in large combination department), including training in incident command and building construction/collapse considerations; trained to awareness level in confined space/trench rescue, operations level in hazmat, and technician level in rope rescue and vehicle and machinery search and rescue; training in response to terrorism incidents.

Gravy:

While we know your Formal training is in English Literature, and EVERYTHING NYC, I also would have to say that you are extremely well studied in all things 9/11.

This list was merely created as a reference, not a bragging post, and I hope no one takes it that way. the proof is always in the argument, not the qualifications...

Proof of this...two of our top debunkers, R.Mackey, and Gravy, are trained officially in two extremely diverse fields, one of them focused on the arts, the other on science, yet when it comes to the facts and theories of 9/11, they are both excellent at dismantling the bunk.

I've always figured it provides a point of reference for those with skills that specifically might apply to 9/11 issues. When mentioning my qualifications, I tried to include only those issues that related in some way to 9/11 conspiracies.

I can also design a fully-functional version of "Tetris" using MS Access, but it has nothing to do with 9/11.

well to be honest, the ONLY reason I tried to compile the list was a counter to the idea that this was just a forum full of uneducated shills.

In all seriousness, my expertise is my knowing that I have no expertise and that there's a pretty solid chance that those who have spent years in school to become learned in the various fields that pertain to 9/11 just may have a better understanding of the events than I do.

Useful skills for debating truthers......hmmm.

I fenced at national level for my University and once was accidentally picked for the Scottish Universities' rugby union 3rd XV playing the Japs at St. Andrews because I was wandering around looking bored and they were a player short. In fact, I'd just been booted out a fencing competition in the second round.

Does that count?
