They did?

Could you post a synopsis?

How do they define "mind"?

Don't bother - the review is pretentious and verbose and is little more than a vehicle for the reviewer to display a preference for quantity over quality. It's not about the book, it's about the reviewer. Sad.

My gawd, what is that... a 3000 word "review"?
Pretentious and verbose.

That dialectic is the core of valuation (monetary, semantic or any other kind). RE: How do they define "mind"?

What people had when they didn’t have cell phones, computers, “smart” TV sets . . . so they would not whine about the metabolism of their brains being abused because “they had to read” 2 pages (about one of the most vexing questions ever). I was amazed when I noticed the other day they had made “making people read” a human right abuse:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catego..._rights_abuses

I mean, I chose not to give you the details about the actual truth of it (Vladimir Putin is behind all of that mind-body link business) . . .

So the review is just a brief precis?

I'd like to know more about how we were able "to communicate just fine with anaerobic beings we had never seen before and which ecology we would have thought of as impossible, living under extreme physical conditions". What did we communicate to these creatures we discovered around deep-ocean volcanic vents, and what did they communicate to us?

One oft repeated phrase from these fine deep-ocean volcanic vent residencers was a request for ice and burn salve.

That statement seems remarkably at odds with your paranoid NSA/CT claims and behavior in every thread you've started here.
Since you've "outed" yourself... maybe you could just go ahead and start using the quote function now, eh?

You really need to read up on what ad-hom is. It's not a "get out of jail free" card that you play to avoid defending a mistruth or accurate critique of the quality or content of an argument.

Yeah, I get tired of people whipping out "ad-hom."

It's an ad hominem if I say your argument is ridiculous because you're Irish.

It's not an ad hominem if I say that your argument is ridiculous because, your argument is ridiculous.

Edited by jsfisher:  SNIP. Edited for compliance with Rule 12 of the Membership Agreement.

What I can't quite understand (which is quite telling!) is that even those creatures reduced their communication to what seems to be the attention span acceptable for the metabolism of our brains even on their first ever communicative interchange with the fifth monkeys: just a two word sentence (less than 3!). Now, that was nice of them! Wasn't it? But we still don’t seem to be able to get it and the most hopeless part of it is that, great Lord!, our gadgets don’t seem to be that helpful either!

if your posts weren't such convoluted word salad I might even suspect you were telling a member to **** off, which would be rather rude and against the rules.

But you wouldn't do that, would you, being a sophisticated book reviewer type?
