It's a shame you can't nuke viruses, because Trump would have the football in his hands right now.

I suppose he could always nuke China in pique at them being the root cause of the pandemic.

"Yeah so I've got a plan. We just drop a nuke on it. I saw a movie, Andromeda something or other, where they did that. I stopped watching about halfway through because I got bored, no boobies in the movie, but I assume it worked out just fine." - President Trump

It looks like he's getting the quatitative easing he's asked for several times.

Quote:
The NY Fed announced plans Thursday to inject vast amounts of money into the financial system, totaling at least $1.5 trillion. And the Fed promised to start purchasing a range of Treasuries -- a step that effectively marks a return to the 2008 crisis-era bond buying program known as quantitative easing, or QE.

Looks like there may be a chance that Wrestlemania (Scheduled for Tampa in April) gets canceled this year....

Wrestlemania... an event that 1) involves a very large gathering of people, 2) who come from all over the world.

https://www.fox10phoenix.com/news/no...ia-36-in-tampa

Why is that related to politics? Remember Vince McMahon (owner of the WWE) and Trump are sort of associates, with Trump appearing at several WWE events, and with Vince's wife Linda formerly being a part of Trump's cabinet (before resigning to head up a pro-Trump PAC). Plus, Vince has donated to the Trump foundation.

It would be ironic if Wrestlemania got cancelled because one of their friends (Trump) was inept at dealing with the Coronavirus, and who's mistakes allowed the virus to spread faster than it should.

I would also argue, without evidence, that the Venn Diagram of Trump supporters that are also wrestling fans would have heavy crossover.

Trump and McMahon actually "beat each other up" at one of the events a number of years ago.

He needs to increase the tariffs so China is paying the USA so much more!

Reminder: this is all Hillary Clinton's fault! Somehow. Something to do with emails? She stored coronavirus-infected emails on a server. Computers get viruses, yeah, this is totes legit. Lock her up!

I disagree. He does this whenever he's reading. Michael Wolff, author or Fire and Fury,:

"They wonder where that is from. ADHD? A learning disability? They thought maybe the guy couldn't read or is semi-literate."
As the parent and wife of people with ADHD, I can tell you it is not ADHD. Difficulty comprehending the written word is a learning disability.

As a former teacher in a school that specialized in students who were not successful in public schools, I saw many of my students read just like Trump does and the majority of them had a reading disability of some kind.

I think he was making fun of my earlier characterization of TDS as, in some cases, an actual mental illness. Suddenly, here I am attacking Trump, viciously.

Still, I think there's a difference. This thread was started with the premise that Trump might use the epidemic as an excuse to usurp power as a dictator. I thought that was deranged.,* as in "derangement syndrome". My own recent, nasty name calling of him though was based on the fact that he's giving a televised address as President of the United States, and he can't be bothered to fact check it, or to make sure he's reading the right words?

My guess is that he read the words written on the teleprompter. My guess is that somehow, when putting together the speech, he got that into his head and he didn't have a final proofread from people who actually knew. I was calling him a moron because only a moron would use the platform he has in such a slipshod manner.

It's possible, though, that the teleprompter was correct, and he just substituted the wrong idea. If that's the case, then instead of being a moron, he would be......no, wait. He would still be a moron. Most people think about the words coming out of their mouths, but Trump just babbles. He wanted it to be true, at least at the moment he said it, so it was true to him, and he said it.

*Note the ambiguous use of the word "thought". Is that implying that in the past I thought one way, but now think another? Let's just say that I probably wouldn't be quite so strident if the thread started today. That dude is so unhinged that he tweeted a picture of him as Nero. There's no way to spin that as positive.

I'm sorry. I just find it amusing when I hear my distaste for a lying self centered bully as some kind of mental condition. I had hopes that once elected he might start acting if not like a President, but something of a human being. Instead, he's worse than the horrible monster I was afraid he was.

Neither God nor Jesus is qualified to run for the presidency. They're not natural born citizens of the US by anybody's interpretation. One wasn't born at all, and the other is some sort of Middle Easterner. I doubt Jesus could even get in the country on a tourist visa, what with his criminal record.

I will state right here the only thing Trump is thinking about Covid-19 right now is:

"Please god, don't let me have it."

Not that he's probably ever prayed in his life, but I bet he is now.

I think you won't see him leave the White House from here on in for some time, unless it's being taken to hospital.

Trump Tweets

Just had a great conversation with Prime Minister Abe of Japan. I told him that the just completed Olympic venue is magnificent. He has done an incredible job, one that will make him very proud. Good things will happen for Japan and their great Prime Minister. Lots of options!

108 countries are dealing with the CoronaVirus problem, some of which we are helping!

Sleepy Joe Biden was in charge of the H1N1 Swine Flu epidemic which killed thousands of people. The response was one of the worst on record. Our response is one of the best, with fast action of border closings & a 78% Approval Rating, the highest on record. His was lowest!

Something tells me all but the most fanatical supporters might get tired of that sort of "I am great" talk when they can't buy toilet paper.

But, we'll see. I've given up trying to understand the American public.

I will say this, if it turns out that 1,000 or less die from Covid 19 in America, he will definitely take credit, and he might even deserve it. I'm guessing it will kill thousands before it's over, if we are lucky, and a recession is pretty much inevitable.

ETA: And the best response to that Tweet would be to retweet the Nero tweet.

Assuming he survives, that will come back to haunt him.

Like a few posters here, crowing about the small number of dead & infected right now is a bit premature.

I read today that South Korea is testing 20,000 people per day. Per day.

What the hell is wrong with this country that South Korea can do that and we can't?

I blame Trump.

Yes, it's true. There are certain things the President of the United States can do, that only the President of the United States can do. Somehow, South Korea did them, and the United States didn't. I blame the guy in charge.

Wouldn't it have been nice when the first case was reported in Washington to test 1,000 people that the person had come in contact with? We couldn't do that. We can't even test all the people who are symptomatic.

There's nothing that South Korea had that we didn't, and somehow, they managed it. We should have. The buck stops there.

Will Trump See Covid-19 as an Opportunity?

I think he's fluctuating between, "I got this", paranoid delusions about the plots against him, and periods of total panic.

I really think he'll be a broken man after it, unless his hoped-for miracle happens.

This is why:

I've watched the presser again and I'm bloody certain he is crapping in his panties at the likelihood of him having it. He will be going through mental torture, which is utterly karmic.

Teens are calling Coronavirus "Boomer Remover." That's just funny. Maybe we're not doomed.

We can invert the question. And answer it simultaneously. Covid-19 sees Trump as an opportunity.

The man in the thread title will not leave this one to stew, I'm quite certain:

China accuses USA of having the first cases and keeping it quiet.
