Memphis had trouble hiring cops. So they lowered standards.

Having mental illness in my close relations I know how important medication can be and how absolutely devastating it can be for a person to not have their medication. It can go really fast downhill if medication is missed.

One should think that when the state puts people into custody it becomes the obligation of the state to ensure such things as medications are available. But then again this is the US...

Yes. Very sad to hear that.

I can assure you that 'duty of care' towards people in the custody of South Australia police is taken very seriously, including system support for the administration of medication.

(i.e. the Custody Officers are notified when medication needs to be given to people in custody.)

Iron County Sheriff, other department members accused of helping man in alleged parental kidnapping scheme

Quote:
IRON COUNTY, Mo. — The Iron County Sheriff and two deputies have been charged with multiple crimes including street gang activities, misusing 911, stalking, making a false report, looking up criminal records under false pretense and attempted kidnapping.

According to the charging documents, they were helping Rick Gaston, an Iron County resident, with a scheme to kidnap Gaston's children from their mother after a domestic dispute.

The Missouri Highway Patrol is now assisting with policing duties in the county about 95 miles south of St. Louis, and all of men have been booked into the Washington County jail.

Sheriff Jeff Burkett, Deputy Chase Bresnahan, Deputy Matt Cozad and Iron County resident Donald “Rick” Gaston are among those charged.
Quote:
According to charging documents, the charges stem from a domestic incident between Gaston and the mother of his child on Feb. 8. According to documents, he was "physically aggressive" with the woman.

Court documents allege that between February 10 and 11, Burkett, Gaston, Bresnahan and Cozad tried to help Gaston kidnap his daughter following a domestic incident involving Gaston and the mother of that child.

The men made a fake request for the detention and arrest of the mother of the child to the Washington County 911 dispatch center to help facilitate the kidnapping of the child, according to the documents.
Read the whole article, there's a lot more to this. I hope these bastards don't see sunlight again until they're very old, if ever.

HEre's one. Link to story and a couple of youtube videos.

https://freethoughtblogs.com/oceanox...or-being-mean/

tldr version: cops raid a person's house, vandalize it and openly steal money, house has security cameras, shows it all, person posts youtube videos showing it and cops' cavalier assumption of immunity. Now they're suing him for showing their faces, humiliating them and causing them emotional distress.

This is actually a follow up to the earlier story from this thread. He wasn't just a random guy; he was Afroman, a well known 2000's rapper who still has enough chops to make noise and be heard. I'm still stunned that the cops thought they could get away with this.

Deserves it's own thread, tbh. Cops cut off his home security video.

Mr Afroman is, incidentally, a legitimate Independent running candidate for President of the United States in 2024.

I don't know why you would.

The reason they "thought they could get away with this" is because they always have in the past, so why should this be any different?

He released a sequel song to to his famous "Because I Got High" explaining how legalization can benefit a community and its economy. There have been dumber people in office.

Yes, I left that out, not being myself well informed on just how prominent Afroman is in that genre.

From that.

Quote:
Were you surprised to see that the deputies searching your house disconnected your personal security cameras?

Yeah. The police officers represent the law. According to America, police officers are the good guys. I figured a good guy would want to leave the camera going so he can verify the fact that he is a good guy. I know burglars and crooks and criminals and murderers, they spray paint the cameras. They want to take them down because they don't want you to see who they are and what they're doing. So I'm wondering, why is the good guy disconnecting the camera, taking away the verification that he is good? It seems suspicious to me—like he's not good.
Who'd have thought it?

Because he is a platinum selling Grammy nominated millionaire who people will listen to, not some schmuck from down the road. The lads from the sheriff's office have recently discovered that he can bite back.

Similar case from 2015. Cops raid a dispensary, immediately disable the security video system, and have fun playing around and munching the munches. Except they disabled the decoy security video system while the real one recorded their antics. So they sued.
