Republicans push bill
https://rules.house.gov/bill/118/hr-5 that dictates how schools teach. In states, in cities. Parents (even one per class) get to ban any book. This is against the constitution, as it clearly belongs to states. Like DeSantis showed. Any normal supreme court would block it, if it reappeared under a republican president. |

It's like they read 1984 and Fahrenheit 451 and decided that it's a playbook.

Grandma Boebert active again. The message is actually false, in that the department of education has no control of school policy. They only provide national funding to states. In states like Mississippi, the system would collapse without federal funding. |

It's easy to say "let the parents decide" when half of them are brainwashed beyond help.
Radical Republican tactics working brilliantly in 2023. |

Mississippi doesn't want federal funding for education? Fine. The "Boebert Act of 2024 Defunding Mississippi Education" should be brought forthwith and passed. Sometimes you just have to let things fail to show how stupid the original idea was.

Sadly, teachers are leaving almost everywhere, not just in red states. Poor pay, unruly and violent students, overcrowded classrooms, and work overload are cited as main reasons. The pandemic had a major impact on teachers leaving just as it did in the medical field. But, these ridiculous restrictions being placed on teaching/teachers in red states is just another reason to leave; the straw (or giant sequoia in this case) that broke the camel's back.
If I were looking for a career now, I'd never choose teaching again. |

Please! If you are a teacher in Mississippi or any other red state of the USA, emigrate to Australia or Canada or Europe or some other country if you can. There you can teach properly, without all these petty bureaucratic numpties undermining your profession. We are in need of qualified teachers, and will go out of our way to get them if we can. Sure, our education systems are not perfect. But at least it's a stable and sensible environment.
