The U.S., a wretched hive of scum and villainy.
Good old Six-Pack Chopra is at it again:

If the Mumbai terror assault seemed exceptional, and shocking in its targets, it was clear from the Thanksgiving Day reports that we weren't going to be deprived of the familiar, either. Namely, ruminations, hints, charges of American culpability that regularly accompany catastrophes of this kind.

Soon enough, there was Deepak Chopra, healer, New Age philosopher and digestion guru, advocate of aromatherapy and regular enemas, holding forth on CNN on the meaning of the attacks.

...

In his CNN interview, he was no less clear. What happened in Mumbai, he told the interviewer, was a product of the U.S. war on terrorism, that "our policies, our foreign policies" had alienated the Muslim population, that we had "gone after the wrong people" and inflamed moderates. And "that inflammation then gets organized and appears as this disaster in Bombay."

I think Deepak Chopra put too much surgar in his coffee enema.

I stopped even wasting time on anything he had to say after seeing him on some talk show (I don't normally watch such - it was what was on at the laundromat one day) very blithely assuring the host that of course anyone who disagrees with him is a fanatic of some variety or other (this was sometime between April 1995 and about June-ish 1998).

It was only a matter of time before we started to hear such insightful analysis from the Blame America First crowd.

Why is Deepak Chopra getting into politics now? Besides being both Indian and American, why does he think he has any expertise to share in the matter?

I'm not saying he's wrong, neccessarily, but I do think a self-help author is hardly the right person to comment on complex foreign policy issues.

And Deepak Chopra is hardly the right person to comment on anything.

Go over into the Mumbai Trap thread in Politics and you are see what amounts to justification for the attacks in Mumbai.
The alliance between Islamic Terrorist and a certain segment of the Political Left grows more obvious each day.

Please don't refer to that dick as "six-pack"; that term is a friendly nickname for one of nature's gentlemen, a Kiwi cricketer by the name of Dipk Patel. Bad enough that poor old Dipak almost shares a name with one of the biggest douches in the universe without him having to concede his nickname as well.

Not to mention a large segment of the Political Right.

That's an excellent point. May be his opinion is given more weight because he's simply a high profile American of Indian descent, and that's it. Reminds me of those Colbert photos --This is my Indian friend, Deepak"

"Hmm, what do Indian Americans think about all this?

"Don't know, better ask Deepak Chopra."

"American foreign policies" cause the Mumbai attacks? Simply empty rhetoric designed so that Mr Chopra can brush under the rug:

-the history behind the Indo-Pakistani Wars
-the ISI
-previous Islamist cross-border attacks into Indian-held territory
-Islamist attacks on Hindu temples
-al-Qaeda connections
-Islamist attacks in Pakistan
-Islamist attacks in Afghanistan
-that the Islamists have formed new, ad hoc configurations
-Iranian and Saudi Arabian influences

.... all caused by "American foreign policies.." Go figure. ;)

Now I feel a bit constipated. Maybe a Triple Latte Deepak would help realign my chopra.

Ah, yes, I forgot about the Moore-Osama Treaty of Versailles in 2002.

Chopra seems to be trying to branch out widely now; hopefully this is a sign that he will be going away soon.

It's based more upon a constant stream of "Explanations" and "Root Causes" we hear from the far Left that amount to a justification for terrorism.
