SAPS Hosts TAM 7 Food Drive

Hello, everyone!

For TAM 7, SAPS will be hosting a food drive. Since so many people are travelling from so far and might not have cars to pick up donation items, SAPS will be purchasing a pallet of canned goods and bringing it to TAM. The cans of food will be available to TAM attendees to purchase and put in the donation box. With the money left after cost of the pallet, we will be purchasing more pallets. All the food will be donated to Three Square, a Las Vegas non-profit dedicated to providing three square meals a day for Southern Nevada.

For more information on Three Square, visit their web site: http://www.threesquare.org/

And be sure to bring cash to TAM! SAPS will once again have a red wagon (The Ecto-III) at TAM, and it will be loaded with food for purchase and donation. We're also hoping to have some at one of the tables, and will have more details on that soon. As usual, the Ecto Wagon will be donated at the close of the conference to local children.

~ Remie

With help from Three Square, we have decided to purchase a pallet of tuna fish for the event! Cans of tuna fish will be available for $5 each (you can then drop your purchased can into the donation box) and with all proceeds, we're going to buy more and more cans until we have every single can of tuna in Las Vegas! Woohoo! All of it goes to feed the hungry in Southern Nevada, so bring those five dollar bills to TAM.

It is official - Fitter has donated funds to purchasing the SAPS wagon, the ECTO-III. At the end of TAM, the wagon will be donated to local children - but during the event, follow the red wagon to get tuna fish for donation, or to pick up some SAPS swag! We will, as usual, have glowing ghost pins and SAPS No Ghost stickers, designed for us last year by TPrime. If you take a photo of yourself wearing your SAPS sticker doing something awesome, send your photo to alison@randi.org to be included in the SAPS sticker gallery, featuring fantastic skeptics like Michael Shermer and George Hrab.

Update: Las Vegas skeptic Paul has donated the startup food for the drive. Over a hundred cans of tuna, as well as 12 jars of peanut butter (in case some TAMgoers are vegans and prefer to donate that). As stated before, each can or jar will be available for purchase for $5 by TAMgoers. All donations will be spent on buying more food.

Additionally, SAPS has made contact with KinderCare and will be donating the red wagon, the ECTO-III, to the KinderCare Learning Center of Las Vegas.

We have secured a prize for the biggest donor at the SAPS food drive, and are also looking for organizations and individuals to match big donations!
