Toronto Truthers' 9/11 "celebration"

A pretty vile way of advertising their "event" to the group:

Toronto 9/11 Truth: 8th Anniversary Celebration, Fri, September 11th, 7 pm

Celebration, huh? Sure hope they didn't forget the wine and cocktails.

This sort of language is to be expected though.

One of the group leaders, "Black Krishna," once said something to the effect of "If you think 911 truth is stupid then laugh at it; if you think its true then enjoy it."

Enjoy it? What is there to enjoy about the notion that the US government murdered 3,000 of its own people in order to usher in a global police state?

But then perhaps it is something to be enjoyed if you look at it from the truthers' perspective. For them 911 truth is something that adds excitement and purpose to an otherwise boring, pointless and irrelevant life. Thanks to 911 truth these hapless losers can walk the streets feeling "enlightened" and superior to all the "sheeple" around them. Needless to say those who attend Toronto truther rallies (out of 200+ group members) are overwhelmingly males, mostly teens/early 20s.

But here's the problem when a movement relies on such malcontents for its base:

Yesterday's 9/11 event? -
"11 people attended."

Here in LA there were more people than I expected. But one of the people I talked to said that he was there because he was being paid and drunk.

Some kind of compelling god complex making them omnipotent to all non-believers... or something to that effect? Can't think of a reason why I'd be particularly cheery about fighting a super secret NWO organization.

The NWO killed off all the other Truthers and left 11 to send a subtle message to the truthers that everybody else wont understand.

Boston 9/11 truth had an estimated 6! Why you would have to estimate I don't know. They must be proud of their accomplishments.

Once they need more than one hand to count with it gets a little confusing...

Did anyone take any pictures? I'm super curious.

I showed up to one of their anniversary street actions, and there were at best 15 people there.

9/11 Truth: where tens of people in North America demand a new investigation into what really happened.

I could hold a rally protesting the Oppression Of Sparkly Yogic Cats and get that.

x10 if I offered booze.

With free booze and money, I could get a few hundred people to rally to me as Beloved Communist Leader.

Criminy, come to that, I've had more people in my apartment on New Year's than several of these "rallies" put together.

Yes, I know truthers are reading this. I have more close friends than you have members.

Now go feel sad.

Riddle me this:

If truthers held a rally and there's no YouTube video of it, did it really happen?

Unfortunately, yes. But this does mean it was probably even more pathetic that normal.

Update...

According to Black Krishna the attendance was a little higher than on their meetup page.

So, 25 of them ranted on Speakers Corner and "celebrated" the fact that they think they have way more support than they really do.

That was their big 9/11 event.

Little clip here of Black Krishna explaining the itinerary. Apparently, after the event, they're all off to "Tarando" clubland to "tie one off". Hopefully they'll have some footage of BK doing the YMCA.....looks like he's dressed up for it.

You missed the most important part - he's planning on running for Mayor of Toronto! When is the next election? This has the potential for months of amusement!

Wow. I can see how trutherism would be deeply relevant to municipal politics.

Also in Ontario, our very own Steve Austin and his group "Truth Action Ottawa" hosted a premier screening of Loose Change IV: Electric Boogaloo in Ottawa on the 11th. On the BBC comments section he frequents, they claimed to have nearly sold out the theatre, which would be 300+ in attendance. Of course, he also claims a lot of other things, most of which are fantasies, so who knows.
Here is a hit piece that probably drove some traffic for them.

Hey. I would pay good money for that! I understand that you should keep you pants on (or at least your underwear) so that your bum does not get singed.

I knew a guy in college who burned his bum pretty bad doing that. You don't hear about these blue-flame injuries too much, although I'd imagine they're probably pretty seriously under-reported.

Heh. He thinks a million people a day see his comments on that BBC article,so I have no doubt he merely saw people passing through the theater on their way to other movies and thought they were all going to see LC.

BK doesn't seem so solemn LibraryL, I'll wager you don't head straight for Tarando clubland and get pissed after Yom Kippur. Unless "tying one off" is some kind of obscure Canadian ritual?

To "celebrate" the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, is akin to telling someone to have a "happy" Memorial Day. What a sick, demented thing to say.

Wow, is Oscar Goldman a member too? I wonder if they have Jamie Sommers phone number, I always thought she was hot in a Bionic sort of way. I can see their banner now- "Truth Action Ottawa-A Movement Barely Alive..."

Well, the Mayfair is actually a street front location. It's one of the last single-theater locations in Ottawa:

http://mayfairtheatre.ca/history

That being said, there was almost no advertising that I saw for this film, and I suspect they typically fill the theater on Friday nights no matter what is being shown. As an example of what to expect as a client of the Mayfair, check out their blog posting on "How to enjoy one of the worst films ever".
