"Angry Young Man" by Billy Joel

http://www.sing365.com/music/lyric....s-Billy-Joel/86A973E0FB610D0A482568700025B91D

This verse in particular:

And there's always a place for the angry young man,
With his fist in the air and his head in the sand.
And he's never been able to learn from mistakes,
He can't understand why his heart always breaks.
His honor is pure and his courage as well,
He's fair and he's true and he's boring as hell!
And he'll go to the grave as an angry old man.

He sits in a room with a lock on the door,
With his maps and his medals laid out on the floor
And he likes to be known as the angry young man.

:boxedin:

"His fists in the air, his head in the sand."

That line alone is sig worthy...I nabbed it.

I sort of guessed you would dig it, TAM....
Seriously, I am now kicking myself in the butt for taking so long to see how much this song fits the twoofers..and Conspiracy Kooks in general.

It is true, I dig it A-LOT...glad you were thinking of me.;)

Speaking of Lash she did a Billy Joel way back.

Okay, here's my attempt at a song. To the tune of Billy Joel's "Pianoman"

It's one o'clock on a Saturday
The regular crowd comes to shout
There's a tall man standing next to me
Giving facts to the troofers about

He says, "Why can’t you tell us the truth for once?
I'm not really sure you know how
But it's sad and it’s short, and of such great import
That I want you to listen, right now”

Tell us the truth, you’re the “truthseekers”
Tell us the truth today
Well, we’re all in the mood for some evidence
Why don’t you have something to say?

Now Mark, the tall guy, is an honest man
And he spends his time here for free
And he's quick on his feet, with the people he meets
But there's someplace that he'd rather be

He says, "Friends, I believe it is critical
To see lies of deniers debunked
I wish I could spend my time otherwise
But they just keep spewing this junk”

Now Dylan’s a failed film school applicant
Who never had much of a life
And he's talking with Korey, concocting a story
Designed to caused maximum strife
To the families and friends of the dead and gone
With their negligent “research” and lies
Yes, they’re sharing a cesspool of ignorance
Just to be “one of the guys”

Tell us the truth, you’re the “truthseekers”
Tell us the truth today
Well, we’re all in the mood for some evidence
Why don’t you have something to say?

Now Jason’s an all around sycophant
Who never had much of a clue
And he's following Jones, spouting Skull and Bones
New World Order, and oh yes, the JOOOOOOS

And there’s Alex, the practicing paranoid
Who sees Zionists under his bed
And he’s clutching a bullhorn and shouting his own porn
Whatever pops into his head

Tell us the truth, you’re the “truthseekers”
Tell us the truth today
Well, we’re all in the mood for some evidence
Why don’t you have something to say?

It's a pretty good crowd for a Saturday
And the deniers rant, rave and shout
They come to Ground Zero, to disparage the heroes,
They forget what this place is about

The deniers, they think it’s a carnival
They think evidence is not required
To accuse heroes of crimes, as long as it rhymes
And to mock all the people who died

Tell us the truth, you’re the “truthseekers”
Tell us the truth today
Well, we’re all in the mood for some evidence
Why don’t you have something to say?

The public who might have been swayed before
Had the troofers’ lies not been exposed
Now get the true picture, without ranting lecture
From Mark, Abby, Ray, Kate and those
Who give up their free time so selflessly
To counter the ranting deniers
They tell the real truth, and show folks the proof
That the “truth” movement is full of liars.

(Reprise)
...
Now it’s four o’clock on a Saturday
Another week’s work has been done
I’m happy to say, at the end of the day
Another week’s war has been won

Hell I'm gonna bump that ancient thread!

Take a gander at the thread, I bumped it.
There are some gems in it.

ETA:
Looking over the old thread takes me back, to when we had the front line twoofers to play with. Twoofers left are like those Japanese soldiers left on islands in the jungle for decades, still fighting a war that's long over. That they lost big time.

I'd say the song has broader relevance than just kooky theories... anyone who takes on a cause can fall into this... even if they're right.

"I believe I've passed the age
Of consciousness and righteous rage
I found that just surviving was a noble fight
I once believed in causes too
I had my pointless point of view
and life went on no matter who was wrong or right."

I don't take this as recommending apathy, but a suggestion that there's more to living than throwing yourself entirely into an ideological cause. And yet, the song is partly sung in admiration, and partly in irony. Nicely subtle in my opinion.

exactly. Crap, when I was in University, early on, I was all behind any cause that took my attention. Why? (A) it was the "hip" thing to protest, to be seen fighting the powers, and (B) I was still full of young man's "rage against the machine".

I totally see how a lot of young male truthers get caught up in the "inside job" and "NWO" stuff. Damn, I mean it has not only "fight the power" but international implications, terrorism, and a small network of people just like them who "know the real truth". Plus they have all been exposed to the matrix movies, which definitely had an influence on the entire thing. In some regards it is actually amazing that the TM and what not did not attract more of them.

Another fitting Joel lyric, from Capt. Jack:

Your sister's gone out, she's on a date
You just sit at home and masturbate
