Arrival at TAM

Well, I got my flights booked, now for the thread that lets everyone share.

This is mostly for letting folks see if someone is coming in about the same time so they can share cabs/rental cars/limos/semis/bicycles/jetpacks as a means of getting to the Hotel.

It also helps me if I happen to be in a generous mood (it occurs now and then) and decide to pickup some of the newbies (the old pros can fend for themselves).

Anyway, put your Forum name, date of arrival, flight info (airline, flight number) or note you are travelling by car, and time of arrival (at least what the airlines say will be your time of arrival). To start things off, mine is:

Departing on Delta 2840 (to Salt Lake City, thence to DC): Monday, July 12, 11:54 AM PDT (morning)

Plan to take the South Point shuttle from/to the airport unless I get a better offer.

Hidden on the Southpoint website is the fact that they operate a free shuttle service from the airport to the hotel.

You have to make a reservation. They don't start taking reservations until about a month before your arrival date. You just call the casino and tell them you want to make a shuttle reservation.

The shuttle leaves from the airport at the following times:
6:30 AM
7:30 AM
8:30 AM
9:45 AM
11:00 AM
12:30 PM
1:30 PM
2:45 PM
4:15 PM
5:15 PM
6:30 PM
8:00 PM
9:30 PM

I added the free shuttle times for bonus points.

Sort by Date & Time to see them interleaved with peoples' arrival times. It's a little light on people and heavy on shuttle times now, but that should change. What if we bold face the shuttles that people will be taking?

We'll be coming in Wednesday at 9:13 PM (Delta 2517 out of Detroit, MI). Unfortunately, after baggage and running through the terminal, I think that puts us at exactly missing the last shuttle... still looking for taxi group!

I've updated the table with caglvo's, Chris H's and mumchup's times.

You could always email the hotel and ask if they could do a later shuttle. If enough people are coming in late, they might, and if they refuse you're no worse off. If you really need to save money, check out the buses at http://www.rtcsouthernnevada.com/index.cfm. The buses run until after midnight. You'd take the 109 bus from the airport to the South Strip Transfer Terminal, then take the 117 bus to the South Point casino. It looks like the fare is $3 for a 2-hour all access pass.

According to http://www.lasvegas-how-to.com/taxi-fare.php, there is a maximum of 5 passengers in a taxi and the fare is the same regardless of the number. Google maps shows the trip is 7.8 miles so the taxi fare should be about $24 from the airport.

I finally got to use my advantage miles, so my total cost is $5.00!!! (Otherwise I'd be flying Southwest, I'm pretty sure.)

Last year I took the shuttle. (Just about everyone on the shuttle was going to TAM.)

I'm sorry about that. I tried to format it so you can easily scan for people's arrival times (a name in the leftmost column) vs. shuttle times (something in the rightmost column), and I used 24-hour time so it would sort properly, otherwise "7:30 p.m." would be before "8:00 a.m.". Unsorted it shows people's arrival times at the top, and all the shuttles from the airport to Southpoint at the bottom. If you click on "Forum Name" it'll sort by name, so you can easily find a person. If you click on the "Date & Time" column, it'll sort everything by date & time, interleaving arrival times and shuttle times so you can see who's arriving together, and which shuttle they'll probably take.

For instance, after you sort by date & time, you'll see that on 7 July, mumchup arrives at 10:09 a.m., BrianEngler at 10:38, and Hutch at 10:58. There's an 11:00 shuttle, which mumchup could probably catch, but BrianEngler and Hutch will probably take the 12:30 p.m. shuttle.

All the hotel shuttles are outside of baggage claim, on the side opposite the parking garage. I can't remember how the spots for buses are allocated, but all the hotel shuttles have the hotels' logos blazed across them. See http://www.mccarran.com for more information. According to http://www.southpointcasino.com/hote...e-schedule.php you have to make a reservation with Shuttle Reservations at 1-866-796-7111 at least 24 hours in advance. Last year I had no problem changing my reservation at the last minute, when my flight landed early.

This is mostly for letting folks see if someone is coming in about the same time so they can share cabs/rental cars/limos/semis/bicycles/jetpacks as a means of getting to the Hotel. It also helps me if I happen to be in a generous mood (it occurs now and then) and decide to pickup some of the newbies (the old pros can fend for themselves). Anyway, put your Forum name, date of arrival, flight info (airline, flight number) or note you are travelling by car, and time of arrival (at least what the airlines say will be your time of arrival). Departure 11:45 AM Monday LAS to LAX American Flight 774 I finally got to use my advantage miles, so my total cost is $5.00!!! (Otherwise I'd be flying Southwest, I'm pretty sure.) Last year I took the shuttle. (Just about everyone on the shuttle was going to TAM.)

I can't remember how the spots for buses are allocated, but all the hotel shuttles have the hotels' logos blazed across them. See http://www.mccarran.com for more information. According to http://www.southpointcasino.com/hote...e-schedule.php you have to make a reservation with Shuttle Reservations at 1-866-796-7111 at least 24 hours in advance. Last year I had no problem changing my reservation at the last minute, when my flight landed early.
