Now this is getting ridiculous

http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2010/04/1...slamic-web-site-takes-on-south-park/?hpt=Sbin

He was in a freaking bear suit for ****'s sake. Actually, he wasn't in a bear suit, because it's a freaking drawing.

On Sunday, Revolutionmuslim.com posted an entry that included a warning to South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone that they risk violent retribution after the 200th episode last week included a satirical discussion about whether an image of the prophet could be shown. In the end, he is portrayed disguised in a bear suit.
Islamists need a sense of humor, and fast.

Anyone who thinks extremist idiots would have a sense of humour shouldn't start threads.

I think there's a difference between thinking they "would" have a sense of humor and thinking they need to get one..

Don't you appreciate the irony of this?

Mohammed isn't in the bear suit, it's a drawing of a bear suit. They just say Mohammed is in it, there are so much levels these Jihadists didn't get. Maybe that's their problem, when you're an extremist you can't appreciate the subtleties of a good and clever joke.

I think it's actually a very intelligent idea by the South Park creators.

I would love it if Trey and Matt just rattled the radical islamist cage a little more..

Yeah, maybe they should make the next episode about the adventures of Mohammed as the invisible man.

Let's see if Jihadists still get rattled about that.

Mohammad could do battle with FSM in some kind of WWE style noodly/invisible smack down!

The thing is, they actually had Mohammed on their show before the whole Danish cartoon thing. He was one of the Super Best Friends.

Bears are godless killing machines

From what I've caught here and there, the show isn't watchable anymore, but I gotta say, putting Muhammad in a bear suit is a great idea.

Some of the topical shows are a little weak but even the "You Have 0 Friends" Facebook satire was decent. South Park remains one of the few entertainment shows where a bad episode is actually newsworthy.

It's pretty good. I liked the well-scripted return of barbara streisand.

I can see a mockery of Supreme Commander from here.

I'm afraid you're the one missing the point here...

This is not the issue. This is:

On Sunday, Revolutionmuslim.com posted an entry that included a warning to South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone that they risk violent retribution – after the 200th episode last week included a satirical discussion about whether an image of the prophet could be shown. In the end, he is portrayed disguised in a bear suit.

The bolded part is the issue. Basically what they are saying is that Southpark was mocking the whole discussion of the image of muhmad can or cannot be shown. Not the fact that they actually shown him.

It was the whole "Is X okay" or "Is Y okay".

Now of course we don't really care about that stuff and we support that nifty little thing called free speech, but I can fully understand why anyone would be insulted at a direct mockery of their faith.

Doesn't excuse any form of violence which may or may not occur of course.

Anyone who posts an outraged thread about this issue on any forum is contributing to making this should-be-nonissue a tempest in a thimble.

I love to doodle. Check out some of my artwork.

Matt and Trey have shown more guts then most of Hollywood, which even after 9/11 seem to be scared to death of offending the Jihadists.

It's not ridiculous at all. It's a planned strategy. If they express outrage over absurd things, then they force the "reasonable" folks to think twice before making *real* criticism of Islam that actually addresses the issues Islam needs improvement on.

Who is they?

If you want to see the video they released it is here:

[insert the youtube.com because I don't have 15 posts]

Sickening. Instead of outright calling for their deaths, they hint at it by showing images of Theo van gogh at his murder scene after Trey and Matt's names and pictures. The audio to the montage is of some imam speaking about a hadith which supposes that a poet who mocked mohammed was ordered to be put to the sword. They are not upset about his (non-)image being displayed but because he was mocked.

Death threats is a non-issue?

From some anonymous person on an unknown website? Hmmmm...

...yes. This is the internet. People threaten to kill each other over stupid things all the time. If I filed a police report everytime some emo-raging dweeb on EVE threatened my life they'd have a special squad just for me.
