Monkey Ghost house.../Monkey Ghost House Solved
I wrote this blog article about a house I was interested in buying. I did not buy it because it had a reputation as being haunted, by a monkey. I don't believe in ghosts, but worry that people really aren't interested in buy a "haunted" house.
Our local skeptic groups does haunted house investigations...and we like to do museums or public buildings or sites. Private homes that are investigated can bring up a lot of problems, and devaluing the home is one of them. Some people think a haunting can make a home more valuable. I have heard claims restaurants and hotels love a ghost. However, when I had a chance to buy a haunted home, I declined. Resale value is something I think about, and I think ghosts STORIES are not a plus when it is time to sell. http://yankeeskeptic.com/2012/10/01/monkey-ghost-house/ Anyway, I hope you enjoy... |

Its a cool, creepy story. People enjoy telling them, without applying any logic. Otherwise, it wouldnt be a cool, creepy story. Or something.

So help me out. Is worse to have a person ghost or a monkey ghost? And was it said that the monkey died in the house/cage/garage? Was happy or tortured?
I'm just asking because the vast majority of ghost stories I've heard have some bad thing happen to a person, and that's why they continue to haunt the place. Anyway, I think they need to check the sewer system as well. Might have a backed up septic system, perhaps. |

I''m going to write up my investigation. The renter, finally agreed to let me tell a limited story (as in not using her name).
The monkey in real life was a horror. It was never happy, needed to lock up either in the basement or in the monkey play house. It bit, it threw poop, and only the owner could hold or handle it. Finally, it was put down, as it could not be treated by a veterinarian or even bathed. It was a tragedy, as people should know these animals do not make good pets. This money had an owner that was very busy, so spent much of his time alone and caged up. ![]() Very sad story. However, I'm now writing up PART TWO and it's well, weird. I solve the mystery (well to my satisfaction). But, if you think a monkey ghost is weird, wait until you read about a monkey ghost investigation. |

Ok, will wait for that. I'm still struggling with the fact whomever has lived in the house NEVER moved the monkey toys, just left them where they sat?
But maybe mention the type of monkey if pertinent. Not an ape I assume? |

I think you passed on a golden, can't loose, deal myself. I mean, there really are only two possibilities, ether there's a ghost monkey there, or there isn't. For arguments sake, let's say there is. Within almost no time you should be able to provide documented proof of said monkey ghost. Bingo, One million dollars richer, for starters, followed by more money from book deals and talk show circuit stuff. And, of course, if there isn't a monkey ghost, you got a deal on a nice little home with a minor sewer problem and an interesting back story to regale visitors with for years to come, and maybe a book deal and talk show stuff too, but not as likely.

Monkey Ghost House Solved...
http://yankeeskeptic.com/2012/10/03/...-of-the-story/
so the ghost is solved, kind of. I know, it's nuts. But two of these women weren't all that smart. (The town isn't known for having Harvard here...the school is where your solid B- student goes). This was also condensed from THREE visits, to just one story. I really didn't feel like going into all the dead ends and other details...sort of "cut to the chase" there which is why I call it a "somewhat" true story. |

Oh my! That is awesome!
![]() Good thing you kept notes. And good notes, as well. ![]() Toward the end there, I was on the edge of my seat wondering what you were going to do...with...um...your findings...and wondering whether I wanted to keep reading and find out. Perhaps that is a mystery best left unanswered. ![]() |

Kitty, I eagerly awaited the stunning conclusion to the Monkey Ghost House investigation, after first hearing about it. Great read!

honestly.. I'm thinking yankeeskeptic is going to be sort of a bloggess (well I can't say Bloggess, as she is a genius...there is no one like her) about skepticism.
I seem to run into some weird types being the director of investigations for Granite State Skeptics. When grass roots organizations decide to basically pay Scooby Doo, things get weird. Today I met a man who is writing a book of poetry about Betty Hill. I can NOTmake this stuff up. He's a REAL POET. yes he also looked like a bum in real life. Skepticism is fun. http://www.colum.edu/Academics/Engli...y_Trigilio.php |

I don't have opportunity to change the text at work, but substitute 'Her' for 'Your'.

I'd rather have a book of poetry about Benny Hill.
