Recent massive ammo purchases by US domestic agencies, Obama's Executive Order to prepare for martial law and recent anti-protests laws all point to one thing.

The US Department of Homeland Security and the Immigrations and Customs Enforcement Office have placed a massive order for ammunition. The two departments are asking for 450 million rounds of bullets to be delivered in a time-frame of five years. The contractor, Alliant Techsystems, was awarded the contract and will produce .40 caliber high-performance bullets to the agencies. The order has many wondering why would DHS and ICE need so many bullets. David Seaman, journalist and host of the DL Show, helps us answer why the order was placed.

Anyone know why Homeland Security and the ICEO ordered all this ammo?

So that they have plenty of firepower when they come to confiscate your guns, microchip you, and put you in a FEMA concentration camp where you'll be forced to drink fluoridated water while sitting next to a Smart Meter.

Or whether?

Sorry if the YouTube link provided a citation. I very rarely bother to follow YouTube cites. They take too damn much time to watch, when I could skim a wall of text and find what I want to know.

Well obviously they only need 300 million rounds, but they overordered by 50% in case some victims need a second shot into the back of their heads.

Very practical people. They think of everything.

Mandatory training and qualification burns through ammo, and it's cheaper in larger quantities.

You can run through 1K rounds per trainee in a two day course, and DHS has several thousand officers.

Like most other RT stories, they seem to have gotten hold of this one from a fearmongering chain email, one that that went around in March last year. They even kept the same "it's enough bullets to kill us all!" doomsaying.

From the chain email:
The Department of Homeland security has just executed an order for enough rounds of 40 caliber ammunition to kill every man, woman and child in the United States.
From an RT article:
...during which they plan to blow through enough ammunition to execute more people than there are in the entire United States.

Anyway, PolitiFact does a sound job on the claim, returning a verdict of: "Mostly False."

It's hard to find exact numbers, but various sites have listed the number of employees of DHS at anywhere from 180,000-240,00.

http://www.uiowa.edu/~c030001/execu...and Security/DeparmentOfHomeLandSecurity .htm

Now, this 450 million is actually the limit over 5 years, so 90 million per year.

Let's assume there are 200,000 DHS employees (mid-range for the available estimates). Not all of them will be armed, so let's say 25% are. That's 50,000 people.

90 million rounds divided by 50,000 agents is 1800 rounds per person. If they go to the range to practice once a month, that's 150 per person, per month.

The last time I went to the range, I fired at least 100 rounds, and that was just some regular everyday Canadians having fun. It's no problem at all imagining professionals running through 150 rounds at the range.

The Glock pistols in .40 caliber seem to have 15 round magazines, so that's only 10 magazines per month.

End of math lesson.

From that link:

Chandler said earlier that Homeland Security oversees more than 135,000 weapons-carrying officers.

Our calculation: If those officers go through all the possible 450 million rounds at the same rate each over five years -- admittedly, an unlikely balance -- each officer will have used about 667 bullets a year.

So my estimates above are very conservative.

I don't know about DHS officers, but even though I'm retired (or retarded depending on who is describing me) I go through 1,000 to 1,200 centerfire pistol rounds every month (weekly practice)

Not so much fun now that I'm paying for it.

So that's about 250-300 rounds per session. So, this seems perfectly reasonable once you do the math, and think about what their job entails.

So of course it's not at all surprising that none of the CTists have done even this minimum amount of reality-checking. :D

One of the basics of CTism is that Big Number = SCARY! (context is irrelevant)

And inject you full of vaccines.

Oh, and of course the purchase date being at the end of a fiscal year when gov't agencies are required to either expend their budgets or face having them trimmed had nothing to do with filling a large order....

Hell, this would probably be a medium size purchase compared to what the Army and the Marines buy....
US Military has been buying small arms ammo in much larger orders for years. You save money on big orders. It is that simple.

And aside from the numbers working out to be just what you'd expect from training and re-certifications and what not, this is for .40 caliber ammunition. That's a pistol round.

What kind of idiot thinks that the Evil US Government would be fighting this "Civil War" with pistols? :boggled:

I think that question has already been answered.

OMG!!
You're right! Everyone knows that the USA is chock full of people with semi and full auto assault rifles, making govt action by pistolpacking Immigration officers untenable!
However everyone also knows that only a small number of Canadians have anything more powerful than a .410 shotgun or .22 calliber single shot bolt action rabbit rifle and no pistols (making us all panicy at the mere sight of a pistol.).
They are not preparing for Civil War, they are preparing for invasion of Canada. Scary Glock .40s, Immigration officers already strategicaly located ON the border, with 10-12 bullets for every Canadian!!!

Dang it, you've figured out our plan! Now, nice and easy, put the bunny guns down, step away from the oil sands, and nobody will get hurt. :D

DHS would need a lot more than ammo to win a civil war in the U.S. so I am going with "no" in regards to the thread title.

Sure, we'll put the bunny guns down.

Ladies and gentlemen, we've tried to be nice - get the moose guns, hockey sticks and a case of beer. They'll be back over the border in a week.

I thought we were just going to make them take Bieber back, but now that you mention it we should probably get some oil to pay for our troubles. Like we did in Iraq. Right?

Strange if the DHS was preparing for a civil war you'd see top DHS officials getting their relatives and wealth outside the country - are they doing so?

Of course they are. Just look at the evidence: the mainstream media is covering it up, there is not a single mention of a top DHS official moving their relatives and wealth out of the US.
