This is like some sport that wasn't offered at my high school because we didn't have unlimited funding. An odd game that kinda sounds familiar but for which the rules are mysterious and the teams have funny names. Passionate fans know who they are cheering for. I never will.
 
SJWs are useful. They demonstrate the inevitable result of progressivism and I frankly hope they get even crazier and more prominent.

Society doesn't need a slight correction, it needs a reboot.

Crock, sorry.

They had influence on some parts of the nicely-named atheosphere, but you're crediting them with far more impact than they actually had, especially outside of USA, which is not, alas, the world.

Not that they were entirely wrong; they just sucked at delivering the message.

SJWs are to actual progressives as Westboro Baptists are to spiritual people of any faith. A lunatic fringe gathering a disproportionate amount of attention due to the volume at which they screech, who actually damage the causes they purport to champion by giving outsiders and fence sitters a skewed view of activism. (wait, /that's/ feminism? I'm outta here!)

As to society needing a reboot, well, given some of your views I'm hoping you install yours on a different physical partition from mine, as they don't appear to be compatible systems.

Agreed, when I hear terms like gamergate or SJW I tend to leave that thread pretty quickly, because I have no idea what it's all about.
 
No way I'm watching a 17-minute Youtube video to find out what some fringe-weirdo I've never heard of said about feminism. If it's so great, drop a summary.
 
I've always gotten the impression that the ones throwing around "SJW" are more guilty of attacks in the name of "social justice" than their intended targets.

This thread does nothing to dispel that impression...

Somebody isn't familiar with thunderf00t's series about creationists then. He was quite popular in the atheist/skeptic movement before the elevatorgate schism.

Having said that, I've never cared for his videos on feminism.

I am not sure if they were sent packing, but it seems quite a few more what I would consider average folk seem to recognize and see some so called SJW fanatic in a negative way, especially when some key words are used in an attempt to shut down any discourse are recognized for the weak argument they are.

Note that I am not *on average* disagreeing with so called SJW, in fact on gender equality or some trope in gaming I would tend to agree, but a shrill small group part and their methods disgust me, like their ultra generalization of a few to the whole group like with gamersgate.

They (the loud shrill minority) suck at delivering a message, and some of them are a bit too far gone.

Sometimes you get much better result to swallow a bitter pill with a bit of sugar, rather than pour acid and pepper on the pill.

It's an hilarious 18 minutes. Of course the first minute is just like the next and the next, etc and nothing coherent is conveyed as far as I can see.

I see no more substance than any other 18 minutes of SJW ranting on a vlog.

Too angry and ranty for my tastes. The strongest arguments are conveyed somewhat dispassionately, in my opinion. Old thunderf00t seems to feel differently.

He uses a technique I've seen too much of lately. He intersperses bits of the subject he is talking about with other pop-culture references. So we have actors saying out of context lines that might be related to the subject. (e.g. I've seen cases where someone is leaving, and suddenly there's Arnold's voice saying "I'll be back".)

The problem with this video is that I got a few minutes into it, and I couldn't tell which parts were the real subject, and which parts were being parodied.

It was completely incoherent.
 
With their heads up their asses, and all the twisting they do, SJWs are more like mobius strips; no beginning and definitely no end to them.

SJW'ers are the perpetually offended, they talk a lot about what they should be offended about because sometimes they aren't even sure themselves. They are complete traditionalists at heart, they just want no limits placed on women and want women to have special treatment. It's why Anita Sarkessian and Jack Thompson are practically identical in principle, yet Thompson is a conservative and his point was more reasonable than Anita's is. They want us to treat women as if they are children in a dangerous world filled with predators out to get them around every corner. SJW'ers are the new religion.

Yea you need a little backstory for the video to make sense. If you don't know about the split in the atheist communitys starting with Rebecca Watson and Elevator Gate progressing to things like Atheism+, you won't understand what he's talking about. If you do have decent knowledge of those things, I don't know what you are misunderstanding.

Well, some YT videos can be very informative or interesting. Here, Thunderf00t continues his recent trend to skip on the science videos to focus on feminists and SJWs. Sure, some of the stuff he presented over time has been pretty funny, but he's become almost obsessive about it.

This latest video is confusing. I don't know where he's going with it. Also, he's apparently now just insulting people based on how they look or on his guess that they live in the basement. Wow, that's really strong logic, there.

Thing is, a lot of the people he talks about are deal douchebags, but the point is lost in F00t's own rhetoric.

It's a stupid video of a bunch of stupid people saying stupid things. It's hardly a serious end to the SJWs as the thread title claims.
 
The sad thing is that thunderf00t used to be a voice of reason. His videos used to be well-reasoned, logical, informative and informed.

Such a shame.

From what I can tell these people are a group of SJWs who have started turning on themselves for not being SJW-y enough. But yeah, the video doesn't make a lot of sense.

You're right if you're saying he's naive that this shows SJW'ers are going anywhere. They are an infinite number of rationalisations.

Problem with SJW's is that they are just like the Comunist hunters during the McCarthy era: only instead of Communist they see racism or sexism in Everything.
They fit Churchills' definition of a fanatic :Someone who won't change their minds and can't change the subject.
