Multiple Violent Events in Paris - Events of the day

I am watching this on Sky News, and have no on-line links, but apparently three separate events are unfolding in Paris as I type.

1. A Restaurant shooting with possibly up to 30 dead.

2. An explosion near the main stadium where the French President was attending an international soccer "friendly"

3. A fairly vague story of a "hostage" situation near a theatre which has not been clearly stated yet.

What can be said? Surely Islamists who are hell bent on destroying infidels. I doubt I'm wrong.

Damn. Paris has really been raked over the coals. I sure hope the reports on the number of dead are not accurate.
 
100 hostages reported. Taken from a theatre near the hotel we stayed in Paris in 2013.
 
The hostage situation is at the Bataclan, where the Eagles of Death Metal were performing.

In case of a connection to IS, is it time to break out the napalm stockpiles?
 
Reports people are being killed in the Place de la Republique right now. That's exactly where our hotel is located.
 
report as many as 40 of the hostages killed :(

I lived in paris for 4 months some years back. This is .... speechless ....

60 dead now. Who knows how many will come out of the theater alive.
 
Now an early report of shootings in a shopping mall.

Assuming it is IS, what do you do? It is as much a franchise as a single entity. So there does not seem to be a way to wage war on a franchise.

reports of 3 gunmen shooting in the concert hall - a heavy metal concert - for as long as 15 minutes, with time to reload 3 times.
 
Reports are that the French Premier (President?) was at the football match hit by a suicide bomber. He is safe.
 
On the BBC they just asked an eye witness to describe the bodies he could see. Disgusting behaviour.
 
Poor Paris. Why does it get hit so hard? Speechless.

well, to be fair the eyewitness was I think a BBC affiliated journalist, but yes, was a bit much.
 
I initially had the same thought but surely such a coordinated attack would take a fair bit of planning and time. Probably just coincidence.

Agreed,Though no doubt that Jihadi John getting his just desserts will be one of the reasons given in the inevitable video claiming responsiblity.

Meanwhile Julien Pierce, a Europe 1 journalist who was inside the Bataclan, has described what he saw:

"Several armed men came into the concert. Two or three men, not wearing masks, came in with what looked like Kalashnikovs and fired blindly on the crowd.

"It lasted between 10 and 15 minutes. It was extremely violent and there was panic. The attackers had enough time to reload at least three times. They were very young."

Earlier on social media people were saying that a BBC reporter had asked what role or influence the "migrant situation" may have had in the attacks. What the hell, BBC?
 
There is #porteouverte for people seeking refuge from the attacks. My best friend's son and his gf are there, but have checked in as safe in their hotel. I have several friends in Paris and only one is outstanding, so to speak. I hope she is safe, I won't go to bed until I know.

It is thought that between 60 and 100 people are being held hostage at the Eagles of Death Metal gig at the Bataclan arts centre.
 
It's being reported that tweets from inside the theatre are begging the police to come in.
