Warren Buffett wades into presidential campaign in annual letter

OMAHA, Neb. -- The United States' economy is in better shape than the presidential candidates make it seem, investor Warren Buffett said Saturday, even though businesses like his still face challenges.

In his annual letter to Berkshire Hathaway shareholders, Buffett didn't name specific candidates or issues, but noted that the negative drumbeat about the economy, health care reform and income inequality may get voters down about the future.

"It's an election year, and candidates can't stop speaking about our country's problems (which, of course, only they can solve)," he said, adding later, "that view is dead wrong: The babies being born in America today are the luckiest crop in history."

Buffett noted that there will still be economic troubles as business evolves, but that the country needs to make sure it has a solid safety net to help people who lose jobs.

"The answer in such disruptions is not the restraining or outlawing of actions that increase productivity. Americans would not be living nearly as well as we do if we had mandated that 11 million people should forever be employed in farming," he wrote.

Of course business will adapt; nobody makes buggy whips anymore. The question is, can workers adapt fast enough not to lose everything. Job training and small business loan programs are what's needed, not candidates lying about bring jobs back to the U.S. Those jobs are gone! Period! When The DonaldTM says he will bring jobs back to the U.S., he is full bore ****** lying! Of course, when isn't he?

Buffett is right that today's babies are the luckiest crop so far. There's a lot of opportunity around, you just have to find it and adapt to it. Today's babies have a chance to live far longer and more prosperously than any generation before, perhaps even one day become virtually immortal. Life for them will be what they make it.
 
Well, things have certainly never been better for Warren Buffett and people like him I'll agree
 
All the Republicans are liars. Not that they won't actually do what they claim they will if they get a chance. They are lying about their motives.

They will give massive tax cuts to the rich if they get the chance. I don't think that they really believe that it will cause huge economic growth that will trickle down and lift all boats. That's just what they say to sell it. They can't really tell people that they want it for purely ideological reasons and/or because they are doing the bidding of their mega rich donors. And they certainly know that their plans will cause massive increases in deficit spending, though to them that is a feature and not a bug. The deficits strengthen their arguments for screwing over poor people, I mean cutting spending.

They will try to repeal Obamacare. Not because they are worried that it will be bad for America but rather the opposite. A successful government program enacted entirety by Democrats is bad for their disgusting ideology and their evil party and they would gladly **** over millions of Americans for the cause.

I also think that there is an excellent chance that they would rip up the Iran deal. Not because they are worried about it failing. But rather because they don't want Barack Obama to get credit for a successful deal. And because if Iran is following the deal, they have no argument for war. I suppose it is slightly possible that they are stupid and/or crazy enough that they actually believe that the US could reneg on an agreement that then rest of the world has no problem with, force the rest of the world to put even harsher sanctions on Iran, and then force Iran to capitulate. But I really doubt it. In fact, I think it is more charitable to assume they are lying than to belive that they are really that mentally defective.
