Other than the fact that Stillson has some political experience, I keep being struck by the similarities of Donald Trump and Greg Stillson.

Greg Stillson was a big bloke, and Trump is 6' 2" and fairly solid with it.

I seem to recall Stillson having corn-coloured hair.

Stillson was appealing the the anti-government breeds in society, exactly as Trump does. Despite campaigning for a house in Washington, Trump and his supporters are anti-Washington.

While Trump is a Republican, he is more or less creating a de facto third party, with Republican establishment turning their backs on him, including tentative plans to dissociate the senate from him if he gets elected.

Trump wants to nuke the Middle East, while Stillson's attraction to nukes is apparent.

Stillson's security detail was over-zealous, as Trump's has been.

Stillson was a friend to bikies and scum. David Duke openly endorses Trump and if bikie gangs vote in 2016, I'm going to guess where they're voting.

Trump only avoids construction helmets because he gets hat hair.

Stillson was the sort of guy who kicks dogs to death for fun. Trump is the sort of guy who pokes fun at disabled people.

We will know for sure if Trump ever uses a baby as a human shield. :)

It's funny I was re-reading the Dead Zone recently and was struck by how "Trump Like" Stillson's, well not 'politics' per se but 'political antics' were. I can certainly see Trump doing the hot-dog cart skit.

Im sure the Trump supporters could point to Ron Brown and Vince Foster and claim HRC is the real Stillson ;)
Give em both babies, fire away and lets see what they do!

Hillary used a baby shield while landing under sniper fire that one time!

pew-pew-pew!

Definitely!

I suggested the other day that Billary & Trump should be forced to have public sex on the steps of the Capitol Building if they want to contest the presidency.

Whichever one turns up wins.

Eat the babies before the bullets reached them.:jaw-dropp

This thread needs more cowbell.

Actually, Trump's very popular in rural New Zealand, where cowbells are frequently rung, so you might be onto something there as wel.

Someone tell me if I had Stillson's hair colour right!

God, I was thinking the same thing. Trump does have a style that resemebles Stillson.
If so,then we really need Jonny Smith to come along.....

I don't remember all the details, does the book explain why Stillson launched the nukes?

No. The only clue is "an international incident that escalated" [paraphrased] which is in keeping with the movie.

Martin Sheen was very good as Stillton, a complete contrast to his most famous role...President Jed Bartlett in "The West Wing".

As can I, and Trump is not uncomfortable wearing a hard hat. However, I get more of a "kick a dog to death" vibe from Ted Cruz. That dude creeps me out.

Andy Griffith as Lonesome Rhodes in "A Face In The Crowd" also comes to mind vis a vis Trump.

Trump's "build a fence across the southern border and Mexico will pay for it" is as likely as Stillson's "put garbage on rockets and blast it to outer space."

That reminds me to order my Chtuluhu for President 2016 T-Shirt. This year the Stars Are Right....

No thank you - I'll stick with the Sweet Meteor o' Death (SMOD) party, even though I do think their candidate is a little soft on the biosphere issue (he promises to leave the deep ocean thermal vent bacteria alone.:))

I wanted to go with the Miracle Planet Dwarf Planet of Doom party. They released a rather impressive almost ten miniute video of it's campaign platform (which would have left only deep sub-surface rock bacteria alive,) but they dropped out of running early - like 4.0 billion years ago...:D

In a hilarious :jaw-dropp "twist," however, one can actually search for "cthulhu vs sweet meteor of death" on Google and find a couple of links for this choice from hell...

I think you mean the stars are wrong... cosmically wrong.

But I'm going with SMOD. I find its platform of near-instant annihilation to be more fiscally prudent than insanity, terror, and consumption by an elder god.

Would it even hurt him if he did? We'd just have his fans explaining what a shrewd move it was, absolutely the right thing to do. He doesn't play by the rules.

The terrible thing is that the bullet would go through the child and hit him - picking up the child does not stop any decent rifle bullet. Depending on where the bullet struck he or the child or both could survive or die. No way justifies picking up the child.

I think the Righties are hoping he is Judson Hammond "Clean up DC. Make America Grate again. Make Mexico pay for it"

The baby is not intended to stop the bullet, it stops or makes the shooter hesitate, like any other human shield. You watched the Dead Zone? Johnny (Walken) shoots and misses at very close range, then Stillson (Sheen) grabs the baby to use as a shield. Johnny is shot by the bodyguard while trying to line up another shot after hesitating.
