Mass Shooting on the Las Vegas strip

My son was at a conference at Mandalay Bay last week. I am glad it didn't happen then. I do hope the casualties are few to none.
 
Unconfirmed reports say

1. Multiple people shot
2. One suspect found dead at the Mandalay
2. Multiple shooters from multiple sites.

We are also seeing a freeway being blocked and traffic being turned back

Police report two dead plus 24 wounded of which 12 are serious.

Current reports say one shooter and he is dead.

The video sounds like a fully automatic weapon firing hundreds of shots into a dense crowd. This will be very very bad. LVPD will talk to press any minute.

Oh, no. I just read two dead and was about to post that hopefully that number wouldn't go up.

Any word yet on the weapon used? I for one am curious if it was in fact fully automatic and if it was legally owned by the shooter. If he acted alone my first reaction is that I'm not interested in anything else about him.
 
There needs to be targeted surveillance of Isis and not necessarily mass surveillance with no investigative or prevention work.
 
Shooter was local. They are looking for his roommate/companion, a 4'11" Asian woman named Marilou. Also looking for their cars (Hyundai Tucson and Chrysler Pacifica).

They did say SWAT used explosives to 'breach the room'. (As far as I know, Mandalay room windows do not open and very few luxury suites would have a balcony. *I planned a wedding there a few years ago)

I listened to the videos. I don't really know guns; but the bursts were very long, the magazine this guy was using must have been massive and he had three or four of them at least - assuming the long pauses between volleys were to change the magazine. It was automatic, but it also sounded like there was something wrong with the gun, because the speed of the shots wasn't constant but kind of warbled, slightly faster and then slightly slower. Maybe that means it was some kind of modified weapon that isn't normally supposed to be automatic.
 
Was the shooter Muslim? We need to know whether this was terrorism or the price of freedom.

Why do you list two organisations with no terrorist attacks in their history while you are leaving out extreme right wing organisations with lots of terrorist attacks in their history?
 
Police aren't releasing a name, description, or background on the perp, other than to say that he is local resident and owns two vehicles registered locally, an SUV and a minivan - which police are looking for.

He also booked the room with a female companion, an middle-aged Asian lady named Marilou Danley. They are looking for her.

Clear case highlighting the weakness of the "good guys with guns" argument as a workable solution to public gun violence. When you let people run around with guns in public, you have to own this tragedy, and all the others, as an acceptable price. Hard to agree Bubba's right to shoot up the traffic signs in his back holler is worth the repeated death of innocents.

Dallas shooter was a blm sympathiser. Maybe I should have said black supremacist.

The target does not indicate a right winged shooter.

I hope your subsequent reactions will be more thoughtful. Lone, possibly insane, people with access to automatic weapons and an inclination to mass murder, ought to be a subject of interest to any responsible citizen.

Not really, but considering him to be part of it would be like considering that guy who stabbed two men to death for stopping him from harrassing a muslim woman to be a part of the peaceful right wing racist marches that we accuse Antifa of messing with. So really the dead guys might as well have been as good as those criminal antifa and the racist should be excused for their deaths.

He is a Democrat and is registered to vote in Washoe County, Nevada."
