Delightful:

Short version: Anti-gay bigot Mike Pence has a family pet rabbit named Marlon Bundo. A children's book about Marlon Bundo has been released by the Pence family. Comedian John Oliver also commissioned a children's book about Marlon Bundo... in which he falls in love with another boy rabbit. Oliver's book is currently outselling Pence's.

A master class on how to combat hate and bigotry.

John is way cool!!!! Wonder if Mike has a hidden thing for pet rabbits - if you know what I mean and I think you do!!!

Mike Pence's ability to duck, dodge and dance around the truth is very impressive. When he tells bold faced lies like that without thinking twice, it gives him the illusion of strength. That's his one deadly skill.

And when he dodges questions and hesitates to answer them clearly, it gives the demonstration of weakness.

Like so many of the "religious" he has no problem lying to pretend he is god-fearing. Yeah, like Chester the Molester!!!

Isn't Pence unwilling to be alone with any woman but his wife or something ridiculous like that? Wouldn't be surprised to hear that, after Trump has been re-elected in the future, Barron Trump will be 17 or something and seduce him only to blackmail him into starting WW3.

Sounds highly likely in my opinion.

I love that some people gave the book 1-star ratings just so that haters would read their glowing comments about the book. That's some grade-A trolling right there.

Today it's 4.715 >< 206!
I guess the Pence fans have lived up to their promises to buy several copies for friends and relatives ...

His ability to work on his knees to help trumpf doubtless helps too!!!

I am curious. Not having read the Pence book, what is so offensive about it?

The book itself is unlikely to have anything offensive in it.
John Oliver's book isn't a response to the content of the Pence book, it's a response to Mike Pence's bigotry against homosexuals.

It should also be noted that Charlotte Pence has just demonstrated more class than the entire Trump administration.

Attacking a book that is written for charity by his wife and daughter is helpful how?

As I understand it, all of the proceeds from the Oliver book go to charity.
That doesn't seem to be the case with the Pence book, but I haven't heard any percentages mentioned.
The Oliver book doesn't attack the Pence book, but it does 'attack' Pence! (The Stink Bug!):

If I remember well, Pence's literary Marlon Bundo is in the book visiting Focus on the Family, sort of political "alma mater" for Pence, an institution who promotes that homosexuality is treatable and sexual orientation can be changed, hence the content of Oliver's version.

I think that is the Marlon Bundo book tour not with in the content of the book.

Good on her and odd note about the picture of her and her dad.

And, thus practicing psychiatry without a license! But, then Mikey doesn't give a **** about the real world as long as he can play at being an xtian.

Absolutely! Classy act and nicely done!

Has anyone attacked the book?

No - unless some of the "reviewers" did (a good portion of Amazon reviews are worthless for knowing anything useful about the book: "It took over two weeks to get to me!!! I hate that!!" ," The cover is really terrible - the lady has just underwear on!!! I hate it.", " There are goddams all through it, I want my money back!!!". I ordered a Love Craft book, and this has some kind of squid thing on it????? Not at all what I was looking for!!!") I have made lots of fun comments on reviews like those!!! Of course, the classic (no longer available) is The Greek Seaman by Jacqueline Howett. She got a bad review on a blog (not on Amazon), bitched about it all over the internet, made loads of enemies who put reviews in Amazon that were true delights and way overwhelmed the 5 star reviews of her few friends and family. (My fave was a guy who wrote " I just love Greek Seamen!!!") Unfortunately, Amazon removed the book and the reviews. - but it was fun for about three weeks!!!!!

I edited an anthology of texts in English, A Lift, Too. It was reviewed by the magazine for Danish high-school teachers, Gymnasieskolen. One of the texts was J.G. Ballard’s (weird!) story Answers to a Questionnaire. Another one was The Index (just as weird and placed at the back of the book), also by Ballard.

This made the reviewer claim that ”At the end of the book there is an alphabetical list of the names that are mentioned in the texts, e.g. Lee Harvey Oswald, George V. This helps the reader very much.”

Bag i bogen er en alfabetisk ordliste over egennavne, der optræder i teksterne, bl.a. Lee Harvey Oswald, George V. Det er en god hjælp for læseren.
A Lift, Too

Even some professional reviewers are pretty sloppy. She didn’t even notice that the names mentioned in 'The Index' had nothing whatsoever to do with texts in the anthology. Nor did it occur to her that Ballard’s imaginary book contained at least 761 pages, A Lift, Too only 224! :)

I believe the saga of the book "Empress Theresa" is the pinnacle of that kind of thing.

The book, yes, the reviews, no! They're still there.

ETA: 4,742 >< 218
(And the reviews and comments are still hilarious!)

A different address with 2 more pages: https://www.amazon.com/Greek-Seaman...=all_reviews&pageNumber=10#reviews-filter-bar

However, neither of these is remotely complete, I personally wrote in (and they were on the list) 2 pages of review/comments as it got bigger and family members of hers were ferreted out. - but none of mine are in either list. I also tried checking other ways without finding more of the originals.
