"I never pushed the Republicans in the House to vote for the Immigration Bill, either GOODLATTE 1 or 2, because it could never have gotten enough Democrats as long as there is the 60 vote threshold. I released many prior to the vote knowing we need more Republicans to win in Nov."

"Either we need to elect more Republicans in November or Republicans must end the ridiculous 60 vote, or Filibuster, rule - or better yet, do both. Cryin’ Chuck would do it on day one, but we’ll never give him the chance. Some great legislation awaits - be smart!"

"When people come into our Country illegally, we must IMMEDIATELY escort them back out without going through years of legal maneuvering. Our laws are the dumbest anywhere in the world. Republicans want Strong Borders and no Crime. Dems want Open Borders and are weak on Crime!"

O RLY!?

Quote:
HOUSE REPUBLICANS SHOULD PASS THE STRONG BUT FAIR IMMIGRATION BILL, KNOWN AS GOODLATTE II, IN THEIR AFTERNOON VOTE TODAY, EVEN THOUGH THE DEMS WONíT LET IT PASS IN THE SENATE. PASSAGE WILL SHOW THAT WE WANT STRONG BORDERS & SECURITY WHILE THE DEMS WANT OPEN BORDERS = CRIME. WIN!

After all the constant daily lies, crazy conspiracy theories and general insane nonsense he's spouted from (before) his presidential campaign to his presidency do you really think they'd bat an eye at this?

Remember they aren't just "brainwashed crazies" without any blameworthiness, they are actually accomplices aiding and abetting him.

Animator and satirist Bill Plymptom has a kickstarter going for an animation project lampooning Trump:

[blockquote] Every day, Donald Trump unleashes a torrent of exaggerations, insults, threats, and self-pity. What's going on inside that fevered brain? We asked the ingenious animator Bill Plympton to help us investigate.

We've been mining Internet, TV, and radio archives for juicy Trump sound bites to inspire Plympton's surreal, hand-drawn animations.

Trump Bites is the illegitimate offspring of Plympton's witty animations and Trump's witless pronouncements. [/blockquote]

There are enough people buying into Qanon that they're purchasing billboard adspace. Between the conspiracy theorists and white supremacists, the remaining supporters either don't believe it or don't care.

This is what we were doing before Trump said we had to arrest and charge everyone. We were doing Voluntary Returns (VRs) on almost everyone that got caught at the border. You throw them on a bus and Bob's your uncle, you're done. We could have had that if Trump had just done nothing.

Talk about borders, harrumph. Mere car-key jingling over there towards Mexico -- everybody hates non-whites; safe choice -- while dropping guard before Putin and waving the soggy pink hanky , leading to the staunch leaving their heretofore well-guarded posts:

Quote:
WaPo: The U.S. ambassador to Estonia — a NATO ally bordering Russia — abruptly resigned Friday, telling friends that he cannot abide President Trump's apparent hostility toward institutions that have stabilized Europe since the end of the Cold War.

James D. Melville Jr.'s resignation comes at a crucial moment for independent countries along Russia's western border — amid the possibility of military conflicts and as Trump suggests he is rethinking the United States' traditional support for its allies in Moscow's shadow.

“The honorable course is to resign,” Melville wrote on Facebook. “Having served under six presidents and 11 secretaries of state, I never really thought it would reach that point for me.”

He added: “For the President to say the [European Union] was 'set up to take advantage of the United States, to attack our piggy bank,' or that 'NATO is as bad as NAFTA' is not only factually wrong, but proves to me that it's time to go.”

Trump threatens UK over defence spending.

A leaked letter from Mattis to the UK Minister of Defence, a copy obtained by the Sun newspaper (Yes I know...)

In the two page letter, General Mattis argues that Britain’s position as a leading world power

Quote:
has been the credibility of the UK’s armed forces.

He says the US expects the UK to spend more than it's NATO commitment

Quote:
A global nation like the UK, with interests and commitments around the world, will require a level of defense spending beyond what we would expect from allies with only regional interests”
It hints that France could become the new number one ally and an end to the 'Special relationship'

Quote:
As global actors, France and the US have concluded that now is the time to significantly increase our investment in defense.
It is in the best interest of both our nations for the UK to remain the US partner of choice.

Then comes the threat

Quote:
It’s not for me to tell you how to prioritize your domestic spending priorities, but I hope the UK will soon be able to share with us a clear, and fully funded, forward defense blueprint that will allow me to plan our own future engagement with you

Trumps is expecting an answer when he visits for the NATO summit

Quote:
In advance of that, the President and I look forward to hearing details of the progress you have made with your Modernizing Defence Programme at the upcoming NATO Summit
https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/667165...-relationship/

"Everybody who ever bought a Harley-Davidson voted for Trump"

True enough. Global warming's getting worse all the time.

Alternately, Real Men aren't such cowards as to be afraid of the jihading Mexicans that are coming to get them. They've got plenty of guns and the will to defend their land!

Indeed! You're giving a fine example there! That's why so many American businesses are likely to be going out of business soon, after all.

Not their usual fare, I agree.

This will have come from the Minister of Defence Gavin Williamson, who's currently at war (so to speak) with the PM and Chancellor over money. He's trying to use Trump as a lever, but I don't think it'll work.

Cabinet discipline has completely evaporated. It's an absolute bloody shambles.

A leaked Trump bill to blow up the WTO

Quote:
Axios has obtained a leaked draft of a Trump administration bill — ordered by the president himself — that would declare America’s abandonment of fundamental World Trade Organization rules.

The bill, titled the "United States Fair and Reciprocal Tariff Act," would give Trump unilateral power to ignore the two most basic principles of the WTO and negotiate one-on-one with any country
FART Act? that can't be real?

Can't you just picture a Monty Python skit where Trump says this to the group at the G7, they sit silent for a couple seconds then look at each other and everyone breaks out laughing.

They are that stupid but someone will catch the name before it gets out.

OTOH, Trump can't pass a bill. It would have to be an EO unless he's got flunkies in the Congress doing his bidding now.

I must be the “Black Swan” that falsifies that statement: I have, in the past, bought a Harley-Davidson. I did not vote for Trump.

I eagerly await a correction or clarification on his assertion by the president.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say ... no.

I predict that at some point soon there is going to be some pushback from the people who really run the world - people way higher up the food chain than Trump. Crashing the world economy isn't in anyone's best interest IMO.

I'm not into conspiracy theories but at this point I hope there is some power higher than "the leader of the free world" - who will decide the U.S. has been trolled enough; Trump can stand down. This is getting too disruptive.

I hope you are right but think you are wrong. All Republicans are now terrified of being primaried if they defy Trump. Even if the higher economic powers want something else, they won't risk their seats.

I was thinking higher than Congress as well. Or lateral. Something like the U.S. getting its credit cut off if it tries to do something drastic. People not buying our bonds. Or even China and Putin. Do they want the U.S. to crash and burn? I don't know, I really don't know. I read The Economist, but I don't always understand the nuts and bolts.

As far as congress members - why are they more worried about the consequences of defying Trump than they are about the consequences of not defying Trump?

Do they fear attacks from the right because they will be so much nastier?

Do they ever think they might be punished by moderate Republicans?

If these guys are so afraid of being primaried, you'd think Democrats would be recruiting Republican ringers to split the vote.

Trumpublicans aren't going to care. He's made the entire party into his slaves. Even those who pretend to be a little independent vote with him when the chips are down. They KNOW he is harming the USofA but their own power is more important.

Then I'm serious about finding moderate Republicans who are willing to run, split the primary vote and then throw in with the Democrat. They don't even have to be sneaky about it. I'm a registered Republican, I'd do it but I'm pretty sure it's a safe Democratic seat.

Dolt 45's legacy to date appears to be emboldening Nazi fetishists and aggravating allies, with a likely helping of a future economic crisis. Having his "legacy" destroyed is likely the best he can hope for at this point.

Unless, you know, he learns to think, read, and so forth. Which he won't.

The factories are now free from regulation, safely placed in lawless havens. The taxes, when not evaded, easily avoided. "Government by the people" is now a deadly enemy in the minds of the mindless. I'd say the Davos crowd are doing splendidly, and see no need at all to change.

I don't know about that. As the Alpine snow cover melts they might miss their skiing.

America elected the guy, America can get rid of him, or at least cut his nuts off in November.

Yeah, but Europe has leverage. The US doesn't produce enough cheese to go with Trump's whine.

I should think the tariffs, Russia and North Korea are doing a fine job of that without anyone's help.

Nope, post AMF ďdark daysĒ...

In 1986 (I think) Harley had a promotion: buy a bare-bone Sportster for $3,995 and you could trade it in for a full-sized Harley any time in the next year and get the full value applied. I gave it a shot, but decided the whole HD thing was not for me.

But I still have a toe in that water - in 2003 I bought and still own a Buell Firebolt that uses a Sportster engine in an Italian-sourced frame with lots of multinational bits and pieces. It strikes a perfect cord for me in the twisties around my N GA home.

Sorry for the hijack/derail - but I canít just stand by and watch my HD cred assaulted!
