Our subject today is one Dwayne Wynn, a black homeowner in Miami-Dade. On Tuesday, Wynn was standing and talking with his across-the-street neighbor in the neighbor's yard, when he observed a vehicle drive up, pausing to leave something in Wynn's mailbox. After the vehicle moved on, Wynn crossed the street to see what had been left in his mailbox, finding a business card advertising one of those house-flipping scams. Junk mail, no big deal.

That's when the vehicle that had left the card came roaring back, the driver getting out and screaming "That's not your property, ************! I was down the street watching you!" In an extended, profanity-laced tirade, the driver demanded back the card that he had left in the mailbox, reiterating that it was "my property", and accusing Wynn of being a nosy neighbor stealing someone else's mail. Then the driver pulled a gun on him.

After arguing for a little while with the man pointing a gun at him, it was cameraphone time. Wynn's video caught the man claiming to be an ex-Navy Seal and the former "head of the SWAT team in Hillsborough County". Wynn remains perfectly calm throughout and doesn't say much, but the angry man's expletive-rich screed goes on and on, with the man repeatedly declaring that Wynn is lying about owning the home. As he gets back into his car and prepares to leave, the man - who is white - says that it's "no wonder why you have people like you getting shot", and then belts out an n-word for good measure as he pulls away.

The angry driver has been arrested and currently stands charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, as well as possession of a firearm by a convicted felon (ooooops!).

Who the hell would lie about owning a home in this context? How long could you maintain such a ploy?

What did Racists McRacy think the black guy was so cunning he would actually try to claim he lived in a house he was robbing the mailbox of?

I suppose this part might not be true?

Yep. It's a federal crime for anyone other than a mail carrier or delivery company to put ads, flyers, or other items in a mailbox. Basically unless it has postage on it, you can't put things in other people's mailboxes.

But I'm sure the black guy is still the thug in this case according to our usual suspects.

It might be a little vague from the context but I'm not sure Angry Man was claiming to be the homeowner himself, just that he was adamant the home was definitely not owned by the Black Man. It was the card that he'd placed in the mailbox that he was referring to as "that's my property".

Yeah that flows a little better and probably what he was thinking.

What the **** did you just ******* say about me, you little *****? I'll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I've been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I'm the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the **** out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my ******* words. You think you can get away with saying that **** to me over the Internet? Think again, ******. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You're ******* dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that's just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little ****. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little "clever" comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your ******* tongue. But you couldn't, you didn't, and now you're paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will **** fury all over you and you will drown in it. You're ******* dead, kiddo.

ETA: In case anyone even begun to take that seriously or doesn't get the joke:

Fascinating. Despite living in the US a fair bit I did not know this. It doesn't apply to a door slot however.

He's been charged with possessing a firearm as a felon, so if it IS true I have some questions.

Sounds pretty unlikely that he was the former "head of the SWAT team in Hillsborough County". He also claimed to be 35 years old and a former Navy Seal. He must have really gone to pot after his service, because he looks a lot more like a 60 year old with a beer belly.

I take it your post is a joke?

Is that what he said? I thought he was claiming to have been in the Navy for 35 years.

Maybe he's related to the ex-police guy who killed the dude in the theater for using his cell phone? Florida ... smh ...

I looked at the link. After the video was over, it started another video of a man berating a coffee shop employee for having a little "Black Lives Matter" sign in the window. The coffee shop employee (a young woman) and at least two bystanders are filming the guy as he just unloads on the poor woman.

The thing is, in both instances, it should be obvious to the person that he is being filmed, and that this will not reflect well upon him. Somehow, they just power on despite that.

I think (and I hope) that if I were ever somehow worked up enough to berate a person in public, and I noticed that the person I was berating and the bystanders watching me were all filming me, then I would, at least for a second or two, have a moment of self reflection. "Am I the baddie", kind of a thing, you know?

I guess I just don't have enough self confidence to just roll all over someone like that, in public, while obviously being filmed, as if it is all private and can never see the light of day or be seen by anyone not right there watching. People are odd.

Well, because he ran to his mailbox, clearly a sign of being nefarious. Maybe it looked like a hammer. Who knows.

Yep. There's one or two weird little one off exceptions as with any Federal Law (Sunday papers but only Sunday papers are except) but in general usage of a mailbox is restricted to authorized people picking up or dropping off items which have US Postage on them.

https://about.usps.com/news/state-r... Postal Service has,is illegal by federal law.

It's an inconsistently-enforced law; people going through neighborhoods and putting fliers in mailboxes isn't that uncommon.

I mean come on, the guy crossed the street to look in the mailbox, it's perfectly reasonable to assume he's just some nosy neighbor! And, you know, pull on gun on him.

No, they are empowered by Trump. Racism is back in style.

Has anyone been checking out the homeowner's background for criminal activity yet? Searched his social media to see if he has any pictures of himself doing something that could look like a gang sign?

I mean, we can't decide who is the good guy and who is the bad guy before that.

That's the nutty thing. Not only does the lunatic confront the homeowner, which would be bad enough, but he points a gun at him. That's so nuts.

This is why I it's such a really awful idea to let someone carry a gun around just because he feels like it.

And yes, I understand that he was carrying the gun illegally anyway, but I want guns to stand out, to be unusual, to draw the attention of the police every single time so that a lunatic like this one can't blend into the gun-loving crowd.

Is that right? I did not know that.

I've been living in Japan for many years now and over here it is not uncommon at all for people (other than postal workers) to put flyers, notices, advertisements and the like directly into mailboxes. My own son was (briefly) hired by his juku (that's a Japanese cram school) to go around the neighborhood and put fliers in mailboxes.
