Enterprising conservative values warriors have now set up a website that helps people report planned drag shows and other deviance and degeneracy.

Defend Our Kids TX

They want to you know, protect kids from such abhorrent practices.

The important part is that we all take this verrry seriously and don't use the website to falsely report planned drag shows. Especially not at Law Enforcement facilities. Or Republican Party offices. Or Conservative churches that are overtly political but somehow still don't pay taxes.

I think this website is really wise. Nobody would ever think to spam the site with all sorts of false reports.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

From the little I've seen of churches, they really are drag shows, aren't they?

Lots of old blokes wearing really fancy dresses.

Similarly the choirs, in their dresses.

Seems legit to me, definitely needs investigating.

Here is how I filled out my form:

Name: You're Lame
Email: go****yourself@yahoo.com
Location of show: Up your ass.
Any other info you'd like to report: You look like a drag queen Sara, I'm reporting you.

Submitting now. That was fun.

OMG the Captcha' image was titled "Find The F**s"!!!!!!

Which reminds me of a joke I heard long ago. A devout Catholic has a gay friend he hopes to cure of his sin. So, hoping for the persuasiveness of pomp, he takes him to mass on a day the bishop is attending. Down the aisle comes the bishop in his robes and mitre, swinging the censer, whereupon the concerned guest, unable to contain himself, calls out, "love your hat, love your dress, but your purse is on fire!"

Armed drag show protesters drowned out in downtown San Antonio
The colors of the rainbow don't run either.

Voices of right wing militia members and their supporters were drowned out Tuesday night, December 13, in downtown San Antonio. A few dozen protesters faced a much larger crowd of counter-protesters numbering well above 100 who turned out to show support for an embattled drag community.

At the heart of the Tuesday's protest, an all-ages drag show at the nearby Aztec Theatre.

Drag as an art form has increasingly been put in the crosshairs of far right extremists and has begun to draw increased ire from mainstream conservatives over the past year. In November, a 22-year-old entered Colorado Springs' Club Q and opened fire into a drag show audience with an assault rifle-style firearm, killing five people before being tackled and beaten into submission by an army veteran and other attendees, including a performer.

Among the counter-protesters was District 2 City Councilmember Jalen McKee-Rodriguez, who came to show support for the drag community.

"This is another example of our LGBTQ+ community, specifically our drag community, is under attack, and so they need to know they are well supported here in San Antonio. Stuff like that is from outsiders, it's not from the heart of San Antonio," McKee-Rodriguez says, gesturing to the This Is Texas Freedom Force protesters.

Tuesday's Christmas-themed show became a target for protesters after This Is Texas Freedom Force, a group that's been described as a militia extremist group by the FBI, sent out multiple calls to its members and followers on social media.

ERMIGERD! I'm gay moral panicking!

My kids have been around gay people and Pride parades all their lives, but I bet drag shows will durn them super trans gay!

In what should be a surprise to no one, Texas (and a couple of other states) have proposed legislation that would heavily regulate drag, and could be read to ban trans gender people in public for doing 'drag'.

Since when does drag = trans anyway? Drag is gay men dressing up like women, not people thinking they are women (whether validly or not is, apparently, a matter of contention).

Pretty sick that Texas, awash in guns and school shootings, thinks that the real danger is dudes in dresses. How many kids were killed this year because of drag?

These bigots are so sexually repressed. It must be horrible living like that.

I've said it multiple times, there are more than a few very public anti-gay gay guys.

Pope Ratzinger
The wide stance guy
There was a church leader in FL and a guy in Colorado who was in the military.

I'd have to look them up because I can't recall their names at the moment.

And as far as I know there hasn't been any obvious anti-lesbian lesbians. Perhaps they are not as obvious.

I can't imagine such a law would pass First Amendment muster.

Is drag even all gay men? I thought a few were straight but just wanted to look fabulous.

From what I understand, Andriy Danylko/Verka Serduchka seems to be straight - although he keeps his private life very private.

Danylko/Serduchka, for those who don't know him, is a Ukrainian performer famous for his/her 2008 Eurovision performance. Serduchka is the stage name of the female persona, but when not performing Danylko presents male.

So that's one, at least. Add in the list of straight performers who have done drag in movies and the list gets long. Very long.

Ima just leave this here.

Because not wanting your young children exposed to cross-dressing freaks means that someone is "sexually-repressed". The best part is that while many liberals suggest that there is no sexual aspect to a drag show, many also clearly associate it with sexuality.

I love how some seem to think they are doing some sort of public-service by filing a false report, over matters such as this. I guess they figure that silencing parental concern is something to celebrate?

yes it is. It is clearly a sign of a desperate need to exert control SOMEWHERE in your life, and on the one group of persons you have the most power over: your kids.

Parents who trust in their parenting and the sense of their children don't panic at the idea that a kid might see drag - what else is a costume party or Halloween?

Why are they freaks? They are no more "cross-dressed" than any well-dressed 17th century gentleman, powdered wigs and all.

Bingo!

Controlling what your kids see? Maybe I wouldn't want a very young child seeing something like a decapitated body in real life. But crossdressers or LGBTQ+ persons? How silly to want to control what real life your child sees.

I love that there are people out there so gullible that they think J Edgar Hoover was a tranny, but sorry to see it at a skeptic site.

My kids have been around gay people and Pride parades all their lives, but I bet drag shows will durn them super trans gay!

I know, right?

My daughter, who's now 23, was around all kinds of queer alphabet people during her childhood - drags, trans, gays and lezzers, you name it, she met them.

And she turned out STRAIGHT! she got ******* engaged to a bloke earlier this year.

Even worse, her 20 year old brother isn't just straight, he respects women and doesn't screw them in their dozens like his dad used to.

I screwed up, I know.

Adding another data point anecdote

John Cleese dragged up all through the Monty Python years and he's turned out to be a skirt-chasing right-wing reactionary ******** ;)

Which of course would be how it is used in Texas, where parents of trans kids get investigated for child abuse for doing the opposite of child abuse.

Does that mean Some Like it Hot is banned in Texas?

I don't think there's much doubt that J Edgar liked to cross-dress, i.e. drag up. Also that he was almost certainly homosexual, and others knew it and exploited it. But was he a tranny? Don't know, and frankly, don't care.

Please lets try to keep discussion about trans matters in the thread where it has been discussed for sometime, http://www.internationalskeptics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=361690 if you wish to make a point about trans people, research on trans matters and so that is the thread in which to do it. The subject of this thread is what is in the opening post.

It's Panto season here in the UK and young children will be dragged along to shows by their parents. In every show a man will get dressed up as a woman (a Panto dame). In my lifetime the principal boy used to be played by a woman in tights. Funnily enough none of this turned most of us "queer". It is almost as if it is something in the nature of a person and not conditioning that may make people be gay, trans, straight or whatever they become.

Is drag even all gay men? I thought a few were straight but just wanted to look fabulous.

Hasn't always been so doubt it is these days.

Certainly in the UK "drag" has always been part of the comedy of general and yes family entertainment.

There are many well know and as far as I know straight male comedians who have "dragged up" to perform a female comedy character. Probably the best known current comedian over here would be Steve Coogan, well known for his Pauline Calf character (as well as "her" brother Paul Calf) amongst other characters such as Alan Partridge.

Tangentially related, but for all the talk of “parental choice”, they seem determined to remove choices from parents who don’t suffer from retro gay panic.

Ho ho very funny, I see what you did there. Steve Coogan!!! very good!! Mention someone who ages ago had a female character rather rather than the universally loved and by far the funniest drag star, by far the funniest comedy star the UK, Brendan O'Carroll who plays the hilarious Mrs Brown.

Do you know it didn't occur to me to use him as an example? I was thinking who is a current straight male comedian....

(Actually I'm not one of those comedy snobs - I loved the first couple of series.)

No, but calling them freaks might.

I would strongly disagree with that assessment. Refusing to endorse every fetish that comes along does not make someone "sexually repressed". Especially when it comes to what young children are exposed to.

It just makes you wonder what kind of man gets up in the morning and decides, "I'm going to dress like a woman, to flamboyant excess, and hopefully find some young kids to hang out with". Libs will often say, "the kids are too young to understand it". Well, if so, why are these weirdos doing it? For what benefit?

We all know to what "benefit". To normalize such abnormal behaviors at a very early age. I mean, that is the best case scenario, I suppose.

But aside from that, what is worse, is that some feel they are doing something heroic by silencing the voices of concerned parents, by doing things like spamming the website in the OP. Drag Queens might be fine for you and your young kids, but don't attempt to take away the voice of disagreeing parents, and then celebrate doing so.

Imaginary ones.

you are projecting - big time.

It’s fun to see our resident righties try and fire their little homophobic cannons and fail so badly.

The definition of flamboyant

(of a person or their behavior) tending to attract attention because of their exuberance, confidence, and stylishness.

To answer your questions...cool ones

I don't care if they don't take their kid. They are trying to prevent me from taking my kid. They are the ones who are trying to stop the other parent.
