Homeopathy and the Daily Mail - for once they are on the button!

Today's centre 2 page spread of the Daily Mail (UK) features an article entitled "Killed by Homeopathy". It relates the sad case of a woman, Julia de Vaatt, who following a breast cancer diagnosis, went down the homeopathy route with the inevitable result. Her husband details all the junk that was foisted on her in her final years of life, including homeopathic "Berlin Wall" - supposedly to reduce inner conflicts.

One product she spent thousands on was "Vita Fons II" water. This retails at £18 for 85ml apparently.
The web site promoting this is quite entertaining. Seems the stuff is "encoded" with "numinous" energy which can be magically converted into vital matter (This must be true - Einstein is even quoted to explain the relationship between matter and energy - a conversion that is apparently so simple that rubbing water on one's chakras is all one needs to do....)

They're not on the button, they're on the bandwagon.

Have you got a link to the Mail article?

This is just a very sad and needless death. If this woman had had access to surgery, chemo and radiotherapy, then she might well be alive today.

These homeopaths are obviously dangerous, as they prevent people seeking proven medical treatments.

What the heck is Berlin Wall anyway? Shouldn't these homeopaths be totally ashamed of themselves?

They're referring to a homeopathic remedy prepared with an actual piece of the Berlin Wall as the "active ingredient".

Seriously...

Here's one of my personal favorite kooky homeopathic provings:

The Spirit of The Falcon
In 1997 I was involved in the proving of Trained Peregrine Falcon. The remedy (Falco) was prepared from a feather and a drop of blood taken from a trained Tiercel (male Falcon) by a vet. Half of a class of student homoeopaths took the remedy and half supervised, though symptoms clearly affected everyone in the group. Though none of the provers knew what the remedy was they experienced all sorts of symptoms clearly connected with the Spirit of the Falcon. When driving, many provers felt the urge for excessive speed (the Falcon is the fastest creature on earth), or found that they could not get off roundabouts and went round several times. There were things connected with the fingernails (talons) and dreams about eating raw meat. The most important spirit of the remedy revolves around feelings of humiliation and entrapment that reflect the position of the wild bird made captive and trained to the will of man. Many animals, especially the dog, have this dual nature, but dogs have been domesticated over hundreds of generations.
The Falcon is one of the wildest of creatures and it is disciplined through starvation and sensory deprivation in just a few months. The feelings of the Falco patient are also extreme and revolve around her true wild spirit and love of the wilderness and of being trapped and humiliated.
There are clearly similarities between the feelings in AIDS and Falco and the patient who has so far had the strongest curative effect from Falco was also enormously helped by the AIDS nosode.

Sure - we all know what problems falcons have with roundabouts.

I honestly thought that was a spoof site from Psiload's quoted passage.

Let's just hope they don't have plans on taking over ours for the purposes of a breeding program. Thankfully, it seems unlikely they'll ever get to interplanetary travel.

Homeopath: "It is broken. We need someone to make it go."
