Eric Hovind, Kent Hovind's son, is trying to continue the lies and business (I say business because it is not a registered church or non-profit) that is Creation Science Evangelism. Since the elder is in the big house, Eric is trying to earn the cash.

Like his dad, Eric attended a unaccredited "college" called Jackson Hole Bible College. Jackson Hole Bible College is hardly impressive. It's a one year unaccredited "college" with creationist professors that don't even live in the same state as the "school." Among those listed on the faculty webpage is "Dr" Ken Ham, see my post on that. And you can read more: http://www.jhbc.edu/

See how Eric Hovind proudly mentions "completing" a college without mentioning the school is much different than your average college:

Creationist Links Origins to Faith, Everyday Life

Says outlook on Genesis account affects every aspect of life

Eric Hovind of Creation Science Evangelism in Pensacola, Florida is in Union Center, South Dakota this weekend explaining why the Genesis account of creation is not only important to Christians, but affects every area of our lives.
..
Eric Hovind is 27 years old and has been doing creation presentations for about eight years. He said he got into this work full time after completing college, and began by presenting at a home for troubled youths. He said that while it would be nice to give a joint presentation with his father Kent, their busy presentation schedule usually has them going in different directions.

http://www.dakotavoice.com/200605/20060507_1.html

Eric recently debated Beren Robinson at the University of Guelph. According to a thread at the The Skeptics' Guide to the Universe Forum:

The audience was almost all creationist aside from maybe ten of my group.

Dr. Beren Robinson argued that there's two ways of knowing, science based and faith basedand tried to argue for the differences between them. Each side was given 20 minutes fora presentation, and only ten minutes was used up for evidences for evolution...

...I had listened to a bunch of Kent Hovind debates and Eric said word for word all of Kent Hovind's arguments (so I won't go over them).

Question period was next, and Hovind used any question to launch into this mostly unrelated 10+ minute rant about some topic...

Dr. Beren Robinson actually tended to answer the questions quickly, and would just leave it at that, and by and large didn't counter Hovind's claims. Hilariously, at one point Hovind claimed that Robinson was interpreting the evidence to fit his preconcieved religious views.

I think Hovind really did very good during q & a period, and Dr. Robinson floundered at that point. But I think that the format was pretty rigged actually, since there wasn't any opportunity for him to counter anything that Hovind was claiming, and because Hovind used q + a as a continuation of his presentation instead of answering the questions.

...I had known that Hovind and Royal City Baptist Church were nutty, but wow. They were all young earthers, all defended Hovind on his tax charges (some claimed that he's going to be acquitted any day now... eventhough he's been convicted), all believed that a "New World Order" satanic world government is right around the corner (the pastor claimed that Trudeau was part of a secret society that is running the world and that the UN is the first step towards World Government, and that George H.W. Bush said that the NWO is going to happen).

Afterwards I met up with Eric Hovind himself. I flat out asked him about his nuttier claims. "Was T-Rex a herbavore?" He said that you can't know that they weren't because we never saw them, and because they have found cellulose on their teeth. I asked him about the New World Order, and he said the same thing as the Pastor (he also asked me to prove that it ISN"T the first step towards World Government). I asked him about Kent's views on the 9/11 attacks, and he slyly stated that he thought that it's possible that the government was involved...

So the question is will the Hovinds finally go out of business and end up getting a real job or will enough people continue overlook the BS to support these liars?

Hovind goes dinosaur hunting:

Christian dinosaur hunters dig for signs of Biblical dragons

THE DAILY TELEGRAPH (LONDON)
June 19, 2004, Saturday
By Marcus Warren in Keldron, South Dakota

COUNTLESS dinosaur bones lie buried in the rocks of South Dakota but the Christians excavating one remote cliff-face were digging not just for reptilian vertebrae but for the hand of God.

With screwdrivers, hammers and shaving brushes for tools, the group was seeking and, as far as it was concerned, unearthing proof that the animals perished not millions of years ago but in Noah's Flood circa 2300 BC.

To these believers in the Bible's literal truth, they are not dinosaurs but "missionary lizards", which are powerful weapons in the battle for young American hearts and minds.

...
Lecturing to a rapt audience of 20 like-minded Christians after a hard day in the field, Russ McGlenn, a self-styled amateur archaeologist and palaeontologist and head of Adventure Safaris, said: "Heavenly Father, we thank You for the evidence of a catastrophic flood event. We thank You for the time to study Your creation. Heavenly Father, we thank You for the evidence of a catastrophic flood event."

Mr McGlenn was admittedly preaching to the converted but his success at strengthening their beliefs and faith was undeniable.
...

South Dakota is one big open-air dinosaur cemetery. "Sue", the world's best preserved tyrannosaurus rex skeleton was discovered in the area and, in some locations, bones are easily spotted, poking through the soil. Just as evident, depending on who is looking, is "proof" that the creatures died in a flood. Evidence is seen in geological strata and the animals' sudden deaths.

The afternoon's work yielded a rich crop of bones, from a group of Edmontosauruses known to be buried in the hillside. The remains join similar exhibits, including a triceratops skull, at a museum opened by the land's owner to spread the word that Darwin was wrong.

"Dinosaur fossils are not proof of evolution but rather extinction," a poster tells visitors to the museum. The war between Darwinian science and Christian fundamentalists has raged for decades but the battleground has lately shifted from courtrooms and lecture halls to small-scale museums, churches and even a Creationist theme park called "Dinosaur Adventure Land".
...
Evolution is "the dumbest and most dangerous idea in the history of humanity", said Kent Hovind, a vocal enthusiast for the cause who also runs the theme park in Florida. Explaining his Creationist creed, he said: "We think dinosaurs were part of the normal Creation and were just big lizards. Noah took some of them on the Ark, probably babies, when the floods came.

... In other recordings played Hovind was trying to hide assets from the government. One conversation with Eric Hovind, Kent Hovind's son, showed the two conspire to put assets in other peoples names and "loan" a motorhome with intent to have it returned. This was in violation of a court order, which allows property to be seized in restitution of owed money...

You can find the audio of this all over the internet of Eric and Kent deceiving the government to keep property that the government is seeking for restitution. Are the Hovinds using the ten commandments that include forbidding stealing and lying? Or a Bible that says "render unto cesar"?

For my first foray into prophesy:

Enough people will continue overlook the BS to support these liars.

The stupidity continues:

At Kent "the fraud" Hovind's blog, at the top, it clearly states "CSE Blogs: Following the Creation vs. Evolution Controversy."

So you'd think there would be mention of a debate?

Well, not ever and today's post on the blog states, "This blog site was not intended to fill the role of a place for a difficult creation-evolution debate." In fact, if you want to "answers" (their words, not mine) creation/evolution they will point "to the answers already addressed in the creation series," which then has a link for you to buy Hovind's $100.00 DVD package. Hovind's "expertise" is worth as much as a water from a garden hose; just look at where his knowledge of tax law got him.

The shameless promotion of their junk is clear with "... the CSE Team continues the distribution of creation materials through the www.drdino.com web-site." So at least, the purpose of the blog was admitted to: selling Kent's junk.

Source: http://www.cseblogs.com/?p=67

I presume Kent's son, Eric Hovind wrote the message.

BTW: It seems like Eric's "lectures" aren't too popular as he has two dates booked for the whole year.

If I might offer a few words of advice to the heir to the Hovind empire:

Don't claim you don't have to pay taxes because your money belongs to God.

"He said that while it would be nice to give a joint presentation with his father Kent, their busy presentation schedule usually has them going in different directions."

2 dates per year isn't busy. And that has to be the most amusing euphemism for being in jail in a long time!

Evolution is "the dumbest and most dangerous idea in the history of humanity"

Now there speaks someone with a seriously limited imagination.

"We think dinosaurs were part of the normal Creation and were just big lizards. Noah took some of them on the Ark, probably babies, when the floods came.

Has he never seen Jurassic Park? Surely everyone knows that no matter how hard you try to control dinosaurs they always end up escaping and wreaking havoc in downtown Manhattan. A bit like xenomorphs in that respect, but with less spaceships and more clothes.

It's well known that Eric inherited a large dose of "teh stupid" from his dad. Won't be surprised when he lands in gaol too.

Cheers,
TGHO
