Anyone heard about this dude? (pavelprorok on youtube)

This dude who calls himself paveprorok over at youtube left a comment on one of my AC360 Browne Smackdown clips and I was wondering if anyone have any knowledge about him?

Looks like he's applying with a variation of the Zener Cards.

His claim, apparently, is that he will guess five right out of ten Zener cards. Would that qualify?

Never heard of him. He doesn't seem to be aware of Rule 12, does he?

Yes but would need to be repeated 3 times to odd of over 1000 to 1 for the prelim.

He does claim on his page that he has had articles written about him, but I couldn't get the page he (tried to) reference loaded. He should really use his psychic powers to put spaces between all of the words he uses when typing.

They completely stopped posting the challenge applications here, didn't they? I loved reading those...

Eh, it seems that he wants to use eighty unique cards. The obvious way to do this would be with a deck of commercial playing cards. There are decks with more than 52 cards. Or better yet, use picture flash cards. Buy two decks and have him put the matched picture on top of the envelopes.

I'll calculate the odds of getting 5 of 10 from 80 unique cards in a bit. I doubt if they are 1 in 20,000,000.

Am I reading this correctly? He only wants to do one run-thru?
This isn't a test of psychic ability-it's a pull on a slot machine.

So, does he think that putting a couple of videos up on YouTube constitutes a "media profile"?

Looks like all he needs now is a couple of affidavits!

Has he actually filed an application yet, does anyone know?

Came by this thread a few minutes or hours ago and felt like asking him directly via YouTube. Why not? I thought.

And he answered already. I'm sure he wouldn't mind me telling you what he said.

According to what he said, his claim was accepted, but it will take time to set up date and protocol.

I have a question for him..

Have you already tried this and got 5 out of 10?

If not why not...?

He could use a normal 52 card deck anyways why 80?

I am sure he will come up with some crap like 'I do it all the time', but he will provide no evidence. Please note the video is just one talking head done like an amateur. He even has flowers growing out his shoulder. Tip - Always ensure the background is plain.
If he was real he would post a video of a demonstration. Doubt if JREF will even accept his application.

Please ask him:

1) If he wouldn't mind dropping by this forum for a chat about his proposed protocol, etc.

2) If he minds if we just check that his application is REALLY in and accepted.

Yes? Thanks.

Lets make no assumptions. It's not hard to ask him. And maybe if someone links this forum, he may join us here.

After all, he doesn't need to provide any evidence for us. He does so for the JREF and that is sufficient. Although you may have a point regarding a demonstration on youtube. He is posting videos there anyway and videos showing great tricks are pretty successful. Maybe if we ask him to make one, he'll comply.

Edit: OK Zep, can do. Just thought you guys are registered at youtube anyway too. But seems not. But that's not a problem. Will do today.

We would all be registered at YouTube because...?

...we want to watch videos of drunken idiots riding shopping carts down hills and into bushes at high speed in an effort to kill themselves?

...we want to watch Paris Hilton copulating?

...we want to see some twerp spout on for ages in an ill-lit room with some crazy monologue that is both inanely bizarre and boring at the same time?

Perhaps you overestimate us...

Such videos aren't flagged.

That's not on youtube. But you can have a link via PM if you want to. And you don't need to be registered at the other site.

Well, usually those are not flagged too.

But maybe you want to see two girls kissing each other passionately. Or watching a serious video with practical examples about how to massage a woman's breast to reduce the probability of lymphatic glands.

No one has applied with a claim about Zener cards in the time I've been working on the Challenge apps. Jeff hasn't heard of him either. Is Pavel his real name? Did he apply recently?

So there is a probability factor you have to meet to pass the prelim? What is this probability factor and why was that factor chosen?

You must beat one in one thousand odds in order to pass the preliminary challenge, to ensure that success is not a fluke.

Well He answered me already and I think there is no need to. He was very reasonable in his response. I brief all important parts:

1. He is not where he lives right now and his photocamera with video-options is not with him.
2. For now he concentrates on making readings for people who leave a comment for him.
3. He thinks about posting a video showing his abilities with zener cards. But at the same time he knows that people will remain suspicious anyway, because it is possible to cheat and not to see it on the video. So he is unsrue what to do best about this. However he might find a way to find a suitable camera and show his "set up".
4. His best results are->"with zenner its 18 out of 25, and 3 out of 10 out of 80"
5. During tests he even covers his eyes and plugs his ears so he can concentrate better and those two senses make less noise for him so to say. Additionally, he can't hear any possible hints and can't read anything from the assistants face... (So we should tell him that the test will be double-blind)
6. He followed my invitation to this forum and found it great fun. He will ask his sister to scan the reply from JREF and he will try to answer all our questions here, probably making a video because that would be easier for him than typing.

There you go. Sounds really good.

@RemieV:

I don't know about his real name, because I didn't ask such private questions. But I hope the scan of the JREF reply will carify the situation.

@Zep:

Well, I don't mind. However, you can still have a link to a private sex video from Paris if you want to. I still think of that remark as a hidden wish, a Freudian remark so to say.

OXEL, thanks for your effort.
But to avoid an all-too-common chinese whispers I suggest you invite him to join the JREF Forum. If he is able to post on YouTube, he certainly should be able to post here as well.

If he's sincere, we'll have a test designed in a jif.

No problem. Somehow it's my impression that there aren't many actual challengers here for now so it would be nice to have another challenger here with us to talk about his claim.

Well, there is a difference. The problem is that English is not his mother tongue, so his remark that it would be easier for him to answer our questions on youtube had a reason. Of course, now that he knows this forum, it's not reasonable anymore to have people like me communicating between him and us as in chinese whispers. Additionally, if he writes a response for me, he could write it on the forum as well without additional difficulties. I think I'll simply suggest to make a video response to answer most of our questions cumulatively for now. But I don't think he'll stick to video responses for every little question that comes up here. I guess he'll join us, link the relevant videos and answer further questions directly.

I just invited pavelprorok to join the JREF Forum. He has posted a comment nine hours ago saying he already has registered. Let's wait for him to join the discussion.

The cynic in me sneers that there will be lots of talk.
As in: Lots of talk.

As in: "hi everybody, what i would like to say is..that i am going to participate in JREF challenge and proof everybody that there is something paranormal and it is exist.. as i think that its also important for people to know that there is such things and they real..cause it will automatically will be one More link to the Proof that soul exist and that there is no death etc... I cant fly but what i can Do its dream and predict about things and usually its come true![...]" (From the link in the OP)

Nevertheless, I am ready to be surprised.

It's not really a disappointment when you do not expect it any different. Ah, the blessings of common sense.

I did so a bit. But unfortunately it's a bit tiring (partly because English is not my mother tongue) and somehow the excitement is not there because while reading an old thread you know that there won't be success.

You may find this strange but you simply have other expectations.

Thanks, but no thanks.

And a "hidden wish", eh? Well, yes, I do have a not-too-hidden wish about Paris Hilton. I wish she would get permanent boils and impetigo all over. Hopefully that would put an end to her pushing her way, crotch-first, into the media spotlight. So when I say she's a boring twat, that's what I really mean.

But enough of my fantasies! Tell me about yours...

Back to topic: Well, I'm not sure whether it's a good idea to ask him persistently about joining us. He already said he signed up and wants to answer our questions. However, as I said earlier, he is not at home. He is in another country! We don't want to get on peoples nerves, do we?
