HEADLINE: A bad year for crystal-ball gazers
BYLINE: BRUCE BASKETT
NEW YORK, Tuesday - Prince Charles was not trampled by a herd of elephants Lee Majors did not go into space no cure was found for migraine headaches and Richard Burton's ghost did not return.
These were some of the predictions, made for 1985, which just didn't come about.
Out of hundreds of published predictions, many were so vague that it was impossible to tell whether they came true. Others were fogged with "might" or "may" to lessen the danger of being wrong.
"Psychic" Sylvia Brown, who is seen on TV, predicted a major scandal involving the Academy Awards with allegations they were rigged.
She also foresaw health problems for Vice-President George Bush as well as earthquakes in Canada and Alaska. She predicted a new injection treatment for breast cancer as well as a breakthrough in the treatment of arthritis.
...
Not a great year for crystal-ball gazers.
Hardly impressive "predictions".
