The Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights predictably expressed outrage and called on Comedy Central to ban further showings of the episode. (The president of this alleged civil rights organization recently claimed, "Hollywood is controlled by secular Jews who hate Christianity in general and Catholicism in particular.") South Park offends some group or other nearly every episode, and the network has consistently backed the show's creators against complainants.
The episode was pulled from the reruns.
Was on the frontpage of one of Norway's largest online papers, actually.
SHAME!
Comedy Central pulls 'South Park' rerun
Dec. 29, 2005 at 7:18PM
Comedy Central pulled a scheduled rerun of the season finale of "South Park" that incensed the Catholic League the first time around.
The Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights angrily denounced the Dec. 7 "Bloody Mary" episode, saying Comedy Central parent Viacom owed an apology to Roman Catholics for "South Park's" portrayal of the Virgin Mary.
Viacom board member Joseph A. Califano Jr., a Catholic, released a statement calling the episode an "appalling and disgusting portrayal of the Virgin Mary."
"It is particularly troubling to me as a Roman Catholic that the segment has run on the eve and day of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, a holy day for Roman Catholics," Califano said.
Califano at the time promised to have Viacom chief Tom Freston watch the episode, E! said.
The episode was pulled from Wednesday's night schedule without comment.
If you haven't seen the episode, you can find it here:“Several news stories today are reporting on the decision by Comedy Central to pull a scheduled rerun of the ‘Bloody Mary’ episode that was shown on ‘South Park’ on December 7-10. The decision reflects what I asked for in our news release of December 8. Therefore, I commend Comedy Central for finally making the right decision. That it aired in the first place, however, does not speak well for the bigots responsible for creating it.
“Already, we are being deluged with hate mail that is as obscene as it is viciously anti-Catholic. All because we exercised our First Amendment right to request that Comedy Central not offend Catholics again! But we’re used to such things and will not be deterred.”

No, you moron. It was an appalling and disgusting portrayal of A STATUE of the Virgin Mary.
I'm surprised they didn't complain as vehemently about the episode where the Catholic priests refuse to give up their granted priviledge of molesting altar boys, and the good father has to bypass the traps and the giant Vatican spider to change things.
What, we're not allowed to say vagina?!
EDit : Oh, RandFan used a much more exciting word. You dirty dirty man!
Either that, or he believed vagina to be a dirty word...
Thanks for the tip, downloading it now![]()
I thought there was a context issue. Using vagina in that context could be impolite. Like, you can say "prick your finger" but you can't say "finger your..." well, you get the idea.
I put on some soft music and light some candles and climb into a warm tub with lots of bubbles. I might be easy but I'm not without class.I never took you for a prude, RandFan
How do you finger your prick, anyway?
