Hopefully yes to all of them.

Schools may require certain vaccinations, but there are plenty of loopholes to get around that. Claiming a religious or even philosophical reason can get an exemption in several states:

Quote:

There are 44 states and Washington D.C. that grant religious exemptions for people who have religious objections to immunizations. Currently, 15 states allow philosophical exemptions for children whose parents object to immunizations because of personal, moral or other beliefs.
https://www.ncsl.org/research/health...tate-laws.aspx

http://www.internationalskeptics.com...5f7558386d.jpg

Yes, employers can require it to work:

Quote:

June 1, 2021 -- Employers can legally require COVID-19 vaccination for employees to re-enter the workplace and can provide incentives to encourage employees to get a shot, according to new guidance issued Friday by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Companies are still required to provide reasonable accommodations for employees who are exempt from mandatory immunization based on the Americans with Disabilities Act, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and other federal laws.
https://www.webmd.com/vaccines/covid...19-vaccination

Although airlines, so far, have not required proof of vaccination to travel, they have required masks. However, many countries do require proof of vaccination or a recent negative C19 test in order to enter. As vaccines become more widely available, I can see vaccination passports becoming the required norm.

Quote:

Countries that have recently opened or plan to open their borders to foreign tourists like Iceland and Greece say travelers must show proof that they are vaccinated against Covid-19 or proof of a recent negative Covid-19 test.
https://www.cnbc.com/2021/05/22/covi...ow-so-far.html

Some cruise lines already require proof of immunization. I don't see how that would be any different from an airline requiring it:

Quote:

Cruise lines that have announced a COVID-19 vaccine requirement for all or at least some upcoming cruises include American Cruise Lines, Celebrity Cruises, Crystal Cruises, Cunard Line, Disney Cruise Line, Holland America, Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises, Princess Cruises, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Silversea, Virgin Voyages and Windstar Cruises.
https://thepointsguy.com/guide/cruis...accine-policy/

As for businesses requiring proof of vaccination from customers:

Quote:

CLAIM: The Fourth Amendment of the United States Constitution and Title III of the U.S. Civil Rights Act prohibit businesses from asking people for proof of vaccination.

AP’S ASSESSMENT: False. It does not violate the Fourth Amendment or the 1964 Civil Rights Act for a business to ask customers or employees for proof of vaccination, according to legal experts. States may prohibit businesses from requiring proof of vaccination for service, as Florida has done.

THE FACTS: Legal experts say federal laws don’t block businesses from asking customers or employees about their vaccine status, despite social media posts claiming the opposite.

Also you have dumbasses like my governor literally making it illegal to show proof of vaccination, so anything we do is functionally useless since its on the honor system and one side has none so....

DeSantis is, indeed, a dumbass. But I can see a lawsuits being filed against such state laws in more Democratic controlled states. Florida is a lost cause.

Yeah, I used to argue against the stereotype southern hick.

Four decades later I understand that they are spot-on.

Yes, and it's getting worse.

Stacyhs 7th July 2021 04:39 PM

Everything about the GOP has steadily gotten worse. I honestly cannot think of an example that's a positive development in many years. They may talk 'equal rights' for homosexuals, people of color, etc. but they don't really believe it.

If QNuts like MTG and Boebert don't want to get vaccinated, let them. The planet could do with having less people like them.

The biggest problem I can think of is that the more unconstrained Covid virus there is, the more likely it is that new and more dangerous variants will evolve.

The vaccines we have will not always be effective.

Yup.

It has been, at the very least, since they took up using issues like legal abortion as causes to attract single issue voters to their party.

And has been getting worse at an exponential rate.

Norman Alexander 7th July 2021 08:58 PM

Clearly the GOP don't give a rats about the actual policies they espouse. If that means an unholy alliance of swivel-eyed raving one-issue idjits then so be it. Consistency and constancy mean zero.

All they are interested in is taking back the power of government they think is rightfully theirs forever. They are now plainly open about how they are going to do this. T**** has given them license to no longer try to hide their intentions but be completely open with their insurrections. Take a look at the likes of Mitch McConnell and this thread's topic, MTG. They share absolutely zero in common except one thing: Ongoing disruption of government and due process, not to mention established codes of convention and civility, until they get what they want - power.

The GOP is now the party of tantrum-throwers and feces-smearers, being in thrall to the chief tantrum-thrower and feces-smearer of them all.

It's whatever the verbal equivalent of a cargo cult is. "Unmasked" is a magic word associated with intelligence agencies in the past. If you chant the word, it will produce the effect previously associated with the word, regardless of what's actually happening now.

//Slight hijack//

There was a rather funny story shared on social media a few months back of a woman with the absolute worst timing in the history of humanity, having made the decision to get a tattoo that read "Courageously and radically refuse to wear a mask." She meant it in the context of being yourself and not putting on a false front to appease other people... but she got it two weeks before the first COVID case in the US.

There really should be a term for that verbal equivalent. So many on the right practice it wrt "racism/racist", "woke", "critical race theory", etc, that it would be nice to have a shorthand way of referring to that.

I remember the idea of invoking legal and government terms as magic words that will do something else being frequently referenced in various Sovereign Citizen threads here, so I figured there was already a term for it.

I don't know if Carlson was unmasked as she claims but the term means to reveal an American Citizen's name in the transcribed text of a wiretap, or similar, when that Citizen wasn't the target of the wiretap. They normally remove irrelevant names when sending those texts to the White House (and others, I think). WH officials can ask to have them unmasked at times.

Is that what you were asking?

The term Shibboleth seems related.

I just hope she has the courage of her assertions and doesn't take the vaccine.

Unfortunately - I suspect she has taken it. And is still spreading misinformation.

I hope she hasn't gotten the vaccine, gets Covid, get put on a ventilator and almost dies. But I'm not sure that would even get through her thick skill.

The serious risk is actually that she gets COVID and spreads it among her family and community and work-place while she is infectious but before being diagnosed. She is actually wanting to be a super-spreader. Which is insane.

She works in Congress so the chances are great that those she would spread it to are also unvaccinated by choice. If she's back home, that's a super red county and I can almost guarantee that there is a large component of those in that category.

Scratch out the "almost" and it will. I'll say it.....I hope she gets Covid and it kills her. Others like her as well.

Some people are too dangerous to be out and about stirring up crap. There is too much at stake for too many people. She's not worth it.

I believe people have died due to her rhetoric and others like her. I do wish harm on people like her and Trump. I think enough people are suffering and have suffered to justify that.

All 219 House Democrats (and 100% of their staff) are fully vaccinated.

Only 95 of the 212 House Repugnicans (45%) are vaccinated.

I say just let her be a super-spreader.

At least as of mid-May Greene had not been vaccinated. At the time, her spokesperson said Greene is "perfectly healthy" and sees "no reason" to be vaccinated. Below is a quote from a Forbes news article published on May 19, 2021.
Quote:

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) on Wednesday [May 19th] expressed skepticism of coronavirus vaccines and resistance to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s demand that all House members become vaccinated before lifting a rule requiring masks in the House chamber – setting up a stalemate between Pelosi and lawmakers protesting the rule....According to a CNN survey, all Democrats in both chambers have publicly disclosed they are vaccinated while less than half of House Republicans have done the same. Forbes news link
The day before, May 18th, Greene was one of a dozen Republican members of Congress who refused to wear a mask in the Congressional chambers as per the mandate.
